  1. Stephen McDonough-Lumberton Cody Hussey-Lumberton Bryce DeJohn-Lumberton Those kids are some pretty good ball players
  2. If LCM's freshmen is heads above anyone elses, where does that put Lumberton's class. The game was 15-0 (Lumberton) in the 3rd inning, before the coach put in the reserves. Also my info tells me that one freshmen is on varsity and there are 3 more on the J.V. who also beat LCM 13-3. I think the future looks good for the Raiders.
  3. Well rough night for the Raiders..I was kinda confused tonight at the lineup but I guess Coach Buffamonte wanted to see who can play where...8 errors on the night cost the Raiders the game...They play Shepherd tomorrow at 4:00 P.M. Hopefully they will be ready to play.
  4. Another great pitching outing for Josh Harwell. Complete game 5 hitter Shutout of a pretty good hitting Memorial team. Darby Chilek had a 2 run homer for the Raiders. If there was any doubts about the Freshmen (LeMaire) kid at 2B I think he silenced them. He went 1-1 with 2 BB's and made some great plays at 2B. Good Win for the Raiders.
  5. I just talked to the Coach. You are right the pitching line reads something like this Keko McGalin 6-IP 5-Hits 4-R 1-ER 3-K's 2-BB He told me even t hough it was a mental error (the play at 3B) it counts as a hit. Sorry for that. I just wanted to give some props to Lumberton because they have been down for so long, and I do see a future.
  6. Corey LeMaire is a Freshmen that starts at 2B for Lumberton. My book has it that he is hitting .320 and he is an outstanding defensive player. Other Soph's that are making an impact are Cody Hussey .333 BA Stephen McDonough .319 BA
  7. They are very young (I believe Coach Buffamonte starts 5 soph's and a freshmen) so they make some silly mistakes. However, they keep getting better every game. I don't know how good they are going to be this year, however the next few years should be a lot better. The J.V. team is 7-2 and their Freshmen team is 9-0.
  8. Keko McGalin although taking the loss, pitched a brillant 2 hitter complete game against WO-S. Great Pitching duel. Unfortunately 3 errors cost the Raiders 4 runs. Great Game.
  9. Keko McGalin (#11) from Lumberton is a very good player. He doesn't get much hype because Lumberton hasn't done as well in the past. This year though he is hovering around .390 and already has around 8-9 stolen bases. Not to mention the fact that he is 1-0 on the mound. I see him cracking the top ten toward the end of the year.
  10. I know I am going to get a lot of snickers for this but Lumberton is going to surprise some people
  11. Wow what two great games. Neither pitcher pitched their ace and they both played two outstanding games. The first game Lumberton won 6-5 and had around 11-13 hits. Made a few double plays to help (I believe his last name was Wells) get the victory for the raiders. The 2nd game was a brillant game by #10 from H-J (complete game 5 hit 1 ER) and # 23 Harwell (Complete game 4 hits 2 ER 7 K's) If Lumberton keeps playing good defense they might be able to help their pitching. Two great games from two quality teams. Final Scores 6-5 Lumberton 2-1 Hardin Jefferson
  12. It is that way throughout Lumberton in every sport. I believe the district didn't want kids missing too many days of school. I know I heard a lot of coaches upset at being able to only play 2 tournaments a year. This might change for next year. Basketball Volleyball and baseball could only play in 2 tournaments.
  13. The Lumberton Baseball team could only be in 2 tournaments this year. They decided to not play in the Nederland tournament in the fall. They have plenty of arms, although not all of them are quality. I talk to Coach Buff regularly and trust me, he wouldn't cancel any tournaments because he doesn't have any pitching. They play Hardin-Jefferson tomorrow, it is a DH. Next year hopefully they can play in 3 tournaments.
