Not gonna argue over if Lufkin is better than BU. I have too much respect for what that program has done over the years. I will say Lufkin is no slouch and is deserving of being ranked in the top 10. Lufkin has played about as hard of a schedule as anyone else.  Lufkin has wins over 6A #10 North Shore 6A #11 Kein Oak 6A #20 Grand Oaks. Lufkin also beat 6A #1 Katy Seven Lakes during summer league. With losses to Nationally ranked Utah Timpview, Utah Corner Canyon, Owasso(OK) and Little Elm. So the team has been tested. The biggest hurdle will be playoff experience beyond the 2nd round.

Cant wait to see their regional matchup with Frisco Heritage

I don’t think Moton playing the last two meetings was the X factor! I mean of course his first game back he had a an excellent game but a lot of shots were wide open I don’t think BU players ans coaching staff were familiar with his game ! Last night they were and we didn’t see him perform like he did the 2nd meeting ! But I think the last two meetings after bout the first halves just simply came down to who wanted it more !

You are missing one key fact. His defensive presence. Just like him swatting EJs layup attempt easily.

I’ll say this.  This WB team plays superb defense.  They are a step faster on defense than anyone on BU.  They score in transition.  They score off of missed baskets.  And most important, they grab rebounds well and always seem to win the 50/50 balls.  This team has it.  Congrats on the district sweep and outright district title.

BU needs some serious work.  The same gripe that I’ve had in that last meeting with WB, I have it now.  You jump out to a huge lead and let it slip away, AGAIN.  We’re stagnant in offense.  We have too many unforced turnovers.  Offense don’t flow and we have big men who we cannot get involved in these kind of games.  I guess at this point, that’s just who we are.  We go as far as Coleman and Jones take us.  And we’ll just exclude the 6’8” and 6’7” bigs that we have.

Get back in the lab and get better for this playoff run.

Moore needs more touches. That should be a focal point for the playoffs. No team in the Region within division 2 has the size to contest him consistently. WB has two 6'8'' and one 6'9'' to at least bother & help double team him

Would love to see a BC/OF match up! OF played the BC JV team with a couple Varsity players early in the season when football was in the playoffs. Fully staffed would be a great game!

Wow I made a blind assumption and didn’t see the bobcats as #6 in the state. Yes correct, Battle of Orange County with BC and Orangefield. Does Orangefield participate in some type of foreign student exchange program? There was a 6’9” kid that was clearly of African descent on the team a short time ago. Not from the US

UIL rules have changed that doesn't allow some teams to play warm up games these days. Teams now have game limits and once they have reached those limits, you are not allowed to play any extra unless it's for district seeding or play in games.

Most teams these days play tournaments that are pool play which allows teams to play more tourney games. That adds up over the season. Also several play in multiple holiday jamborees which adds to their totals.

Really the only teams that can play warm up games these days are teams that have to wait till football is over to start their basketball season. Sometimes that's two to three weeks after everyone else has started. Usually that is only in the 3A and down classifications.

We still have some teams that will play warm up games this year. I have already received info on some of the games.

I will be posting a Seed/Play In/Warm Up Game Info thread on Wednesday morning.

Did the UIL modify the number of playable games since the 90s? I know we played a total of 35 games before the playoffs even started. Typically back then the 1 seed got a first round bye. Which was NS my years.

  6. There used to be a day when playoff warm up games were hyped up and a thing. Can anyone remember some good ones from the 80s and 90s? I’m sure this doesn’t happen anymore with 4 teams and two separate divisions per district. But could you imagine this:

All games played at Montagne Center:

Game 1 - Bridge City v East Chambers

    Game 2 - WB v Atascocita

Game 3 - BU v Katy Seven Lakes
