We are 38 days away from the start of the Texas High School Football Season and today is.....
NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY
On July 24 grab a lime and the salt.  It’s National Tequila Day!
Made from the blue agave plant, tequila has a deep and storied history. Named after the small town of Tequila in a valley west of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, the spirit was known as mezcal wine about the time the conquistadors came to the continent.
Many names we recognize on the labels today were the very first commercial producers of tequila. In fact, Jose’Antonio Cuervo held the first license for manufacturing the favored beverage, courtesy of the King of Spain. He kept well-known company. Don Cenobio Sauza and Félix López, also producers of tequila, whose businesses continue in some form today.
Agave grows in a variety of ways.  Blue agave, grown in the highlands region, is larger in size and sweeter in aroma and taste.  Agave grown in the lowland regions have a more herbaceous fragrance and flavor. Like similar legislation for bourbon and cognac, Mexican law states tequila is only tequila if it is produced within Jalisco and limited regions in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas.  If the same ingredients are distilled anywhere else, it’s not tequila.

Will not bother me a bit if PNG ditches the gray uniforms. We are not Gray & Purple.  We are Royal Purple & White!!! 
Wish we could return to the old zig-zag line pattern on the sleeves & pants, from the 70s.

School coaches may conduct strength and conditioning programs for students in grades 7-12 from their attendance zone for a total of six weeks under the following conditions:
Limitations. Sessions may be conducted from the first day of summer vacation until the second Monday in August.  A session shall be no more than two consecutive hours per day.  Monday through Thursday only, and a student shall attend no more than one session of supervised instruction per day for a total of six weeks.
Activities Allowed. The sessions shall include only strength and conditioning instruction and exercises.  No specific sports skills shall be taught and no specific sports equipment such as balls, dummies, sleds, equipment shall be used.  School shorts, shirts and shoes may be provided by the school (local school option).
Attendance. Attendance in a maximum of one session per day shall be voluntary and not required in order to try out or participate in any UIL activity. Attendance records shall be kept, however, students shall not be required or allowed to make up missed days or workouts.
 

31 days until our first scrimmage. Broncos looking good in practice, everything clicking along nicely. Players getting stronger everyday, putting the time in the weight room and conditioning, is one of the things that's gonna help us this year get back to "that" team. As always, Go Broncos!!!!!!

NATIONAL TAPE MEASURE DAY
On July 14 measuring twice has extra meaning.  It’s National Tape Measure Day.  
Alvin J. Fellows of New Haven, Connecticut made the lives of carpenters, electricians, seamstresses and countless other tradesmen and craftsmen easier when his patent for “Improvements in Tape Measures” was granted.  His patent was dated July 14, 1868.  Enter the generation of retractable tape measures.  
The first recorded use of the tape measure goes back to the Romans, utilizing marked strips of leather.  Before Fellows’ patent, Englishman James Chesterman designed a steel measuring tape, but it was expensive for it’s time.  At $17 in 1853, it was equivalent to $300 in today’s U.S. dollars. It was also big and bulky and not likely to fit in a pocket or toolbox. Fellows’ patent was an improvement on Chesterman’s design.

Bronco94, you are definitely at the top of my list for 2017 fan of the year. I respect your support of your team. 
Crosby will lose to Dayton or BH again at some point. I don't see it being this year. But then again, I thought Crosby should have blown Dayton out the last 3 years and didn't. So you never know.

What, that I had a 10 day vacation to New Braunfels, well I'll have you know that it's s lot of fun. And I thoroughly enjoyed it.

And a much improved D it'll be.

Just wanted to give a shout out for my Broncos, We got some doubters out there, you notice I didn't quiet say haters, but we got some doubters out there, and with you or without you, this team will do great things, this group of young men are dedicated and are working as hard as any to improve, and will play Bronco Style football this year, that's where we run it down the opponents throats, kill'm with the passing game, and bust'm In the mouth on D. As always Go 2017 Dayton Broncos!!!!!

My comment was meant to go a little deeper than that. Back when I played, we never went into a game defeated. We may have lost the game in the end but never at the beginning. And I've carried that mentality thru life. Our D will be improved this year. We needed that. Our Offense will be looking sharp, I like our chances against every team in our district. Sometimes you have fans fall by the wayside and that's what has happened with some of ours from last years season.

I think The Broncos will be one of the top two teams in our district, and that has many re-thinking our district top four. That's just me thinking, we lost some good players but we also gained some good ones, and I think the gains outweigh the losses. Come on August, scrimmages or not, I'm ready for some football. Go Broncos!!!!!!!
