  1. No way would I put a 22'er in Kieth Lake but thats just me, the ramp at Esters is open BUT we went in to check it out early in the spring and hit a pipeline at the entrance of the ditch in a 24'er. For me I could be fishn by the time I drove around to Esters but it all hinges on where your starting from I guess. If you go to Kieth lake have a paddle a long pole and try and launch and take out on HIGH tide, oh yea better have a stainless prop but most all boats now have them....

  2. Oldref, all the above is good poop, a few things that have been working for us> shrimp are good BUT all fish love m, we have been getting away from the non-target fish by using croaker or finger (size) mullet at the jetties, BTW we have been getting most of our nicer fish on Gulf side of the La jetties, this IS in La waters. Most of the times we're finding the nicer specks along with some slot reds using very little weight, almost 'freelining' the bait, thro to the rocks and let your bait 'skirt the rocks' just keep it up off the bottom all the way to the boat and repeat. There are fish to be caught under a popn cork BUT we have been getting the better sized fish deeper, last w/e we was 3 fish shy of a 3 man limit with only 1 fish under 18". Areas around the causeway bridge have been good for specks, reds with some flounder lately also but will have to deal with smaller fish at times. The La side of the lake has been hot early in the morn, also with a outgoing tide fish the drains BUT BEWARE don't go past the entrance as you'll be in La. If I were to target only flounder this is where I would spend my day. Hoping you have 'Tite lines and screaming drags'....

  3. Although still somewaht new to HS coaching Coach Landry has done exceptionally well in getting his kids to the next level.

Shows how much you pay attention, Coach Landry has been a head coach in this area for atleast the last 8-10 years or so.

Yea I do pay attention, as a matter of fact I'm a friend of the family, along with he and my son were roommates in OK in '98' and neither pd out of state tution. I also know when he started coaching.....so carry on...

  4. sure this makes sense.....It will save the $2000 a semester in out of state tuition...   not many scholarships you can give in baseball.... so they split money... some will get tuition, some books, some housing, etc.  rarely do you get a full ride.....

They just need to change the amount of scholarships for all sports to a team roster at least.  only football has the full amount....some on scholarships sitting the bench.....

Why don't they you say?????.......you have to have just as many female scholarships as male....so most have to cut back to equal the amount.

NO need to explain this to me as mine played out of state 4 yrs with 2 diff schools/2 diff states and pd NO out of state tutition. What IF he moved to La and then other out of state schools tried to recruit him, with the reasonings you gave he would turn all down because of the out of state tutition, again this makes no sense as the college coaches are well schooled in 'working things out'. Could be in his 'best intrest' to wait ULL out and not sign in the early signing period if offered UNLESS he's set on going to ULL. Although still somewaht new to HS coaching Coach Landry has done exceptionally well in getting his kids to the next level. BTW isn't the Sundevils coach, a HS coach in La.

  5. Probabally 'mushy' from silt due to the hurricane, havn't fished there in several yrs BUT have caught many Flounders on the 'bayside' on both E and W sides not to mention 100s of trout under the lites. I absolutley wore my 2 boys out on trout or maybe I should say they 'wore the trout out' yrs back. IMO it will be a sad day for sportsman if they close the pass.....

  6. After a little checking around--I found that Caleb will be moving back to play in Louisiana.  It seems that he has a scholarship to play for University of Louisiana Lafayette and it was suggested he finish HS in LA.

Congrats to Caleb Kellogg and best wishes on a good college career!

With the way he has played this makes NO SENSE at all, after all ULL is not the only school recruiting, and with his talent there will be others, BTW is he a senior this yr??
  7. Fished Fri eve caught a few Specks n Flounders on La side of lake. We got checked by La wardens and got into a BS session with them, I asked about the requirements of lisc when fishing jetties, made a point about the 'point of land' was told as long as your clearly inside the channel no La lisc required. I do realize another warden mite interpret it different. Both La and the TPW were busy yesterday.

  8. i know a lot of players that are very good players that arent gladiators and never will be & dont want to be.for every person that thinks walker & his so called pro trainers are great there are 3 people that think they are terrible.for $35 FOR 30 MIN. $15OO A WEEK $5000-$6000 A MONTH.how do you justify that kind of money?by winning & if you can play a division lower(sanbagging) all the time you got it made.we can argue all day but any one that knows baseball & is honest knows the gladiators should have been moved up months ago.just goes to show u that nations is no better then usssa, the only diff. is usssa is cheaper.

This is the hidden content, please
If you check insted of bashing you will see the academy has instructors that has BEEN where most want to go and without a dought KNOW what it takes to get there. Your "so called pro trainers" are actually instructors with 3 being EX professional players but I guess you know baseball better than them too. Its been a few yrs since I've had anything to do with BB other than a specktator BUT in the yrs n yrs I was, I have ran into lots of people as you and their son ended up sacking groceries at Market Basket. Have you ever thought of taking up Badminton, Croquet or perhaps crochet...
  9. bottom line is nations baseball bends the rules for certain teams with connections & screws teams trying to play by the rules. the rules were made for everybody to follow.the travel issue is bull, other teams get laughed at by mathis if that reason is used.SANDBAGGER WALKER isnt worried about finding comp. hes more worried about his rep., JUSTIFing the money he needs to keep his job  & getting more kids to join the gladiators org. to get more money. thats the plan.u cant argue the facts any team with their record at the first of the year would have been moved up no questions asked, and a good competitive coach would have not argued.

You really are ignorant aren't you?  You have no earthly idea what you are talking about.  Most every trainer in this area makes his/her money from training individuals, not coaching a team.  Do the math - $35 for 30 minutes translates into roughly $300 per night/$1500 per week or $5000-6000 per month.  Compare that to $1000 per team per month coaching a team.  Do you really think Morgan needs to justify coaching a team when his bread and butter is training?  Believe me, Morgan does not need to justify his job, nor does he need to get more kids to join the Gladiator organization.  There are kids lining up to be a part of that organization (Not just because of Morgan's coaching ability or his wins and losses).  Again, Morgan realizes his future success depends on the success of each player, not his win/loss record.  If any of you knew him or even better- if any of you have ever been to one of his practices, you would realize that people aren't lining up to be a Gladiator because of a win/loss record.  They are lining up to be Gladiators because of the success of the kids who play for him.  All of the "marquis" players in the area high schools were once Gladiators - Statum, Felts, Hicks, etc.....  Up until this year, the Gladiators had no teams past age 14, so these players were forced to go elsewhere.  The success of the Gladiator organization is not based on an age group's record.  It is based upon the development of the player - on and off the field.  That, Bullett, is the difference between Gladiator Baseball and other organizations.  It is also the reason people are wanting to be Gladiators - not because of the win/loss record of a particular team.

and THAT should be the rest of the story>>well said ;D
  10. My fishn partner tore m up Sat morn early at the jetties, dad n I went today(mon) and scratched 8 keepers, saved back a few swimps for a spot that has been producing flounder in the channel. First cast I put a 17"er in the boat, second cast got another but 1/2 shy, croakers and rats killed us from then till we ran of swimps. This was the first time my dads been to Sabine in 20+yrs, he had a ball!!!

  11. I also have  a military I.D.card showing my disability and can go to any state/national park free of charge or go onto any military base and commissary. What again is the Louisiana  hunting and fishing law concerning disabled veterans. In most southern states a 100% disabled vet pays no school /property taxes now Texas has sighned into law HB 3613 sect. 11.131 effective 2009 tax year for All 100% disabled service-connected vets and  those w/rating of 70% w/30% unemployability added for 100% total rating are "EXEMPT" from These taxes.

Call the ph# in my previous post....
  12. Concerning the fishing lisc requirements on the La side of the jetties, I dropped by the TPW office yesterday to see if they knew the requirements for a 83 y/o to fish in La waters. I was hoping to catch the boss who has been a friend of the family for yrs, I was thinking as long as he's been a warden he would know what was required, he was out but 1 of the ladies there gave me a ph# for any game or fish laws in La. I was told "from jetty to jetty the 2 states share a common boundry" along with "all a Tx senior needs is a Texas Seniors lisc to fish ANYWHERE in La". I question the 'point of land' and once again he stated from jetty to jetty, he even asked someone else in the office who had the same response. We will go again today and see if we can catch the boss in the office and get his interpretation along with a Seniors lisc for my dad. BTW heres the ph# 337-491-2588. PNG Proud, I'm wondering what IF you didnt have La lisc as all you were doing IS possessing fish >>NOT fishing, now IF you told them where you caught them its a whole new game. IMO this is no different than comming in from offshore and cutting thru the La cut on the jetty OR getting stopped by ether states warden anywhere in the lake while JUST riding around. I could see a problem if comming in from 'offshore' with a 'Tex state waters' limit of 4 snapper and stopped in La with their 'La waters limit' of 2.Will post up the answers I recieve today IF I get to talk with Rod Ousley....
