Silsbee 84 Houston Booker T. Washington 83/FINAL
SportsJunkie32 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Yes Washington is a bad team, I have watched Washington play this season and they do not rebound well, has no height and their press is a joke -
A shot clock is needed. it could be a good opportunity for high schoolers to get ready for college basketball. It will speed up the game, good teams will score within the time frame, bad teams will have to adjust. A shot clock may expose some coaches offensive & defensive plays but it will also challenge coaches to improve their philosophies and how they manage the clock.

Preparing for the No. 1 team in Class 4A can be challenging. “Probably have to go recruit some players,” said Clay Davis on preparing for Yates. “Unfortunately, the system is a little broken right now. There is holes in the system and they choose to take advantage of them. It is what it is, and it’s hard to prepare for. We will take the kids we have in our system that come up in our system. I wouldn’t trade any of our kids for anyone else.” The Lions scored 100 points in their 20th straight game. Yates senior guard Rubin Jones knocked down the 3-pointer with 2:58 left in the fourth quarter that lifted the team over the 100-point mark as the crowd from Yates cheered on the Lions. As the season comes to an end for the Hawks, its five seniors made a name for themselves within the program. “The legacy that they will leave is that they represented Hardin-Jefferson basketball the way it should be represented. I’m so proud,” Clay Davis said. “Those are our kids, Hardin-Jefferson kids from Day 1. We don’t go out and recruit our players. The kids that we put on the floor are Hardin-Jefferson kids from our program.” -

The legal guardian indicated that the two players, one is a junior and the other is a senior were home schooled and lived in the Yates School Zone for 2 Years. The legal guardian have legal guardianship of those young men. The guardian stated that the young men were taken in because they came from a trouble environment. The two players did not play local summer ball in Houston. The guardian stated that Coach Wise was not aware that the young men plans of enrolling at Yates until they enrolled at Yates. HCYA is the home school the young men was enrolled in last year. AGAIN the young men had been living in the Yates School Zone for 2 Years. It's no one's business regarding where the young men came from before arriving to Houston. The legal guardian had the necessary paperwork required by UIL. Coach Wise reputation is on the line with the comments made by the head coach at HJ. -

Yates was 0-4 against those Premier/ Elite Academy Programs this year. Several of the transfers did not play in those games, they were waiting on UIL ruling to play. Coach Wise had an opportunity to cancel those games knowing he would not have his full squad BUT he decided to play against The Elite with several D1 Players And Yes Yates Got The Brakes Bet Off Them. Coach Wise will continue to challenge his players against the Elite Teams. Yates is fully aware of what a beat down feels like 0-4 Beat Downs. -

You are wasting your time on this thread, No one was complaining about the Yates Players or the transfer portal when Silsbee beat Yates 2 years in a row. This is my personal opinion. -
LaMarque has been waiting for this particular game for over a year, when they were upset by B.T. Washington last year. Can Jordan Ivy-Curry handle the pressure and multiple defenders and have enough energy to carry his team to a victory. Yates gets the win, and extends their 100 point streak to 21 games.

This is good conversation after a good beat down, when HJ can only score 11points Q1, 11points Q2 for 22 points at the half compared to Yates 24 points Q1. I will be reminded that it was the turnovers and not Yates defense for the low scoring qtr -

I don’t know the HJ Coach nor have I ever met me, but I can state that Coach Wise would have been in that players ass if he received a tech regardless if it was his 1st or 5th foul. This is my personal opinion. -

Without sounding like a racist, the population growth around the school are of Caucasian Race and they are not sending their kids to an All African American High School that’s the reason for the low enrollment. Those kids are being bus to Lamar and Bellaire High School.
