BH probably won't compete on a consistent basis again until their enrollment gets up around 1700-1800 kids. Which is probably coming sooner than later. I would say on average right now they're probably between 4th-7th talent wise in the district. When you have solid coaches in your district that's hard to overcome. You can get around that sometime with sheer numbers though.
BH had solid players like Denny, O'Neal and Dolan. The only problem was they they were all on the same team. Thats the cyclical talent thing some people like to talk about on here. People too about BH running the spread? Can you imagine them trying to shoot it out with some of the teams in this dstrict?
As BH grows like the rest of the area I think their teams will also improve like many around them are doing.
I for one don't want us to go straight spread. I would like to see some type of hybrid between Spread and straight up run down your throat football. Heck, give me 60/40 pass to rush and I'm happy. LOL It's all about imagination and what a coach can come up with to deal with what you got. If it takes putting your 4 to 5 best players playing both ways, then make them gladiators and do it. Do what you got to do to compete, notice, I didn't say win, but compete and keep the kids interested in your program.

I fault the UIL for decisions they've made lately. The expanded playoff system ( 4 teams) puts incredible pressure on coaches nowadays. Parents and school boards expectations have increased because in most districts if your team finishes in the top half, you make playoffs. If you can't finish in atleast top half, eventually your done. I don't remember as many coaches chopping block when only two teams made the playoffs. Of course it could argued the other way as well.

This is definitely a pickem game, pretty sure I'll be changing my pick alot on this one before Friday afternoon.
The last several years, BH has had their way with Porter. I know every year is a new year and BH is struggling right now, but I think BH pulls out a win in this one.

I honestly predicted 3-7 after Silsbee game. I figured wins over LCM, Porter, and Galena Park with toss up games being Kingwood Park and Humble. After last week, I feel slot more confident in my prediction unfortunately. Lol

When will schedules be posted?

I know the group at Humble has some talent. I've watched them since freshman year. The question is what the staff can do with the talent? I'm picking NC in a close game. NC QB is pretty good and the RB isn't bad himself.

I would say that BH is about the same and I know what PNG has. I do think from top to bottom 21-5A is a little tougher, but not by much. I've lived in both places and so I feel like I can gauge through a fans and parents eyes that they are pretty close to the same talent wise. Honestly, BH doesn't have a gunslinger like Morse and we don't have depth at WR position, but that's kind of hard to gauge since we hardly ever throw unless it's a 3rd and long and everyone in the stadium knows that we will probably have to pass or play the field position game. I think BH has several backs that are like Cropper and could probably do more damage if defense wasn't putting 9 or 10 in the box. Thisn't a shot at the PNG as I know them, just saying we have some kids that can play. Of course I'm not a coach nor do I think I'm an expert by any means, but I do believe we have the athletes to be a Nederland or PNG. I don't think we will ever be a deep playoff team considering what is coming up in the Houston area, but I do think we should year in and year out be able to compete for a playoff spot whether that's 3rd or 4th place. I will say Red Dawn is right and teams like New Caney and even Humble are getting stronger. You throw in Crosby, Dayton, and the recent success of CEK and it's getting tougher. Even with all of those teams, BH shouldn't be getting slapped around to the tune of a 3-5 touchdown difference every game. Just my .02 and I'm sure there is 1,000 different opinions on the subject.

IMO, making the playoffs is a bonus. If you happen to win a game or two, then that's icing on the cake. I don't think anyone in BHISD thinks they will win a football state championship anytime soon. I do think people want a coach that is able to adapt to strengths of any given group of boys. The same game plan every game, every year is a issue with some. I personally hate to see a coach lose their job. It's easy to be upset if you have a kid or kids in the system though. Hopefully the boys fight till the end of the season and then let the chips fall where they may.
