  1. 6'4" 240 Kenneth Mann of Burleson HS is claiming to have a lot of interest in Texas State despite several offers from other big time programs such as Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, California, Connecticut, New Mexico, Tulsa, Memphis, Houston, and many more.   "I like Texas State. I like Coach Bedell, he's pretty cool. I was thinking about taking that visit. It's probably only a 3-4 hour drive."   On what he's looking for in a program....."That they offer my major. I want to go to a big school, but a small campus feel. Really family oriented."
  2. [Hidden Content]   13. Bo Antunovic, OT, Southern Methodist Mustangs 12. Chucky Hunter, DT, TCU Horned Frogs   6. Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor Bears   4. Mike Orakpo, LB, Texas State Bobcats       "Brian Orakpo was the No. 1 guy on the 2008 Freaks list for, among other things, benching 514 pounds and vertical jumping 42 inches. His kid brother Mike's athleticism -- in a slightly smaller frame -- is equally eye-popping.   The younger Orakpo, at 6-2 and 233 pounds, benches just about 100 pounds more than twice his body weight (560) and incline benches 500 along with a 375-pound power clean, according to TXST coaches. He also has vertical jumped 41.5 inches and been timed at 4.53 in the 40.   New TXST defensive coordinator John Thompson, who has spent three decades in college football including stints at many of the biggest SEC programs, said Orakpo's rare combination of strength and agility reminded him some of Alabama great Derrick Thomas (Thompson was a linebackers coach at Bama when the Hall of Famer played for the Tide.) "This is a guy who can play in pass coverage and also you could play at 5-Technique versus a 300-pounder and he can get his hands inside him," said Thompson. "Derrick Thomas was one of the few guys who I'd ever been around who could do that, but Mike can too. He's so sudden and so strong and just has phenomenal leverage."   In 2013, Orakpo had 10 TFLs and 4.5 sacks, but this fall Thompson plans on playing him at inside linebacker, which he feels is more of a natural role for him."
  3. 6' 185lb WR Riley Smith has received an offer.  He currently is one of the top JUCO WR in the nation and per Rivals has offers from Georgia State, South Alabama, and now Texas State. [Hidden Content]   [Hidden Content]
  4.   Here is a rendering of the final master-plan.  Can't tell you when completion will happen on this or what the capacity will be at.  Plus I'm sure there could be changes before it takes shape, but this is the plan for now.  Right now the latest Capital funding plan is claiming approval for South End Zone expansion of $24,000,000.  I've seen 2015, as well as, TBD dates thrown around; 8-10 years seems more likely.
  5.   Here's a picture of Texas State's Stadium after what I believe is 2 phase completed.  It brings it to around 30,000 but don't hold me to that.  This games attendance was well over 30,000 because temporary bleachers were brought in to accommodate the demand.
  6. Baylor 10-2 (7-2) TAMU 7-5 (3-5) Houston 9-3 (6-2) Texas 8-4 (6-3) Rice 9-3 (7-1) TCU 8-4 (5-4) Tech 7-5 (4-5) UTSA 7-5 (6-2) UNT 7-5 (6-2) TXST 6-6 (5-3) SMU 5-7 (4-4) Utep 4-8 (2-6)
  7. Will do but it will probably be at least 2 years (barring injuries to depth) before he sees the field.   Texas State is very deep and talented at the RB Position.  The current starter 5'10" 200lb Robert Lowe ran for 945 yards on 164 carries as a Sophomore.  That was splitting carries with 5'8" 185lb Chris Nutall who ran for 477 yards on 83 carries as a Sophomore also.  We also have CJ Best who is down right shifty just like his brother Javhid Best who plays for the Lions.  Texas State plans on using him in their new up-tempo offense this year as a slot wr/rb.    Here are some Highlights of all 3: [Hidden Content]; [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  8. Commitment #5 is in the books Nick Bingham commits to the Bobcats.   "I knew from the start that I really wanted to come to Texas State. I just needed to talk to my parents and make sure they were okay with it." - Bingham   I love the way this kid plays with a mean streak.  He can make the cuts , but as you will notice in the video, if there's one defender between him and the goal post, he's going to taking the running over approach.   [Hidden Content]
  9. 6'2" 195lb James Bailey received an offer at the DB position. He hails from powerhouse Lake Travis and currently has Texas State in his top 5 amongst Iowa State, New Mexico, Nevada, and Fresno State.  Last season as a junior he finished with 2 INT's, 4 sacks, and 80 total tackles, for the State Semifinalist Cavaliers   [Hidden Content]
  10. Xzaviar Campbell of Bellaire HS picked up his offer at the Katy Camp recently. He stands out at 6'0" 213lbs who rushed for 1083 yards and 12 TDs last year plans on visting TXST in the next 2 weeks.   "I think July 8th is when I'm supposed to visit up there. If everything goes like I expect and planned and this is where I want to be and I'm comfortable with it, then I'll make a decision." - Campbell   [Hidden Content]
