  1. One of Sterling's offensive linemen dad is in my fantasy football league. From what I understand Sterling should have the biggest offensive line in the district by a good margin. This particular kid is 6'1" 310lbs and he said he's the second smallest o-linemen besides the center. He said they had absolutely nothing on defense though? Will be interesting to see how well the Rangers can use that offensive line to shorten the game this week?
  2. I work with about 10 parents who have children in various BH athletic programs. The source of the information from my post is sitting in the stadium with my sons and watching BH play Montgomery.
  3. I wish I was exaggerating because I think BU has a lot of potential and some of those kids just need some wins in life in general but they're tough to watch right now. I used the HISD example because I watched Madison play and while they're not great they actually look like a varsity football team. BISD needs to really give the new coach some time to change the culture, as in two or three years with no expectations of positive results as long as they're showing improvement. Watching them play it's a lot more of a rebuilding job than I thought. That's why I'm really not sure how much PNG can take from that game?
  4. You can analyze it a bunch of different ways but at the end of the day I don't think the Dogs have the dogs they used to, especially at the line of scrimmage. Ned used to be violent in the trenches. You could make the argument that they were the best 5A team in the trenches in the coverage area from 2011-2015. I've noticed lately that they've been short on those guys and for whatever reason their overall skill players have fallen off from the days of Seay, Hopkins and Kimler. I want to say in 2012 when Crosby and Ned played Ned was the bigger school? It's possible Ned is just in a spot where they're fighting through some stagnation in their enrollment.
  5. All of those are good statistics. YPC is a pretty much a personal stat though, I would replace it with "yards per play" and add a statistic for penalty yardage. Third down conversion statistics are also usually huge when determining the outcome of games.
  6. For the first time ever I agree with @Separation Scientist. Last year Crosby and PAM kind of cancelled each other out at the skill positions and Crosby won the game at the line of scrimmage with guys like Cooper and Casey. I think when we get healthy we’re better at the skill positions this year than PAM and we’re still better than y’all at the LOS. Neither one of us are as good yet as we were last year at the LOS but I think the gap between Crosby and PAM is wider at this point this season. Wilson is a beast but he’s a different kind of good than Sanders. Both of PAM’s backs are nice but you need downhill runners against Crosby and neither one of those kids are. PAM receivers can go as usual but they’ve taken a step back from those dudes y’all had last year. Defense looks good but nobody put any personnel on y’all yet. That’s a month away though, we’ll see what we look like when we get there.
  7. We’ll see what PNG looks like this week against another team who can execute plays at the varsity level? Lots of mistakes on offense and lots of guys out of position on defense during the PAM game. It was very impressive what PNG was able to do to BU’s personnel but I think PNG needs to get through this week before you can really start to estimate a trajectory for them. BU is a 5A level HISD football team and that may be doing a disservice to Houston Madison. PNG dispatched them exactly how they should’ve if they’re going to be a good team this year. During the summer I said I would be interested to see if PNG offense looked more like Katy’s or SLC’s? I said one place I thought PNG had been well above average recently was the offensive line and that a Katy style offense might highlight that. Well not only does it look like Katy, they’re running the patented zone play from under center that they’ll eventually throw the play-action off of. It’s also a staple play for Carthage. I eventually expect them to start running the crack-toss and the toss counter which are the other staple plays of Katy and Paetow. One thing I saw in both games is that PNG still needs to get better at tackling in space and sticking with guys in the secondary. They probably have the personnel to make a real run at a district championship though. #19 for PNG is a baller but Prosperie is still PNG’s best offensive weapon. For whatever reason he kind of seems like an afterthought in PNG’s new offense. That being said, that’s a hard point to argue when you put up 49. Again though, you want to see them do it against a competent team.
  8. Yet again, you take time out of your day to come over to a Crosby thread and provide non-football posts. All three of your posts in this thread have nothing to do with football. See how this starts every time?
  9. Crosby is the subject of BH’s highlight videos, tweets from the head coach and general conversation. There must have been at least five BH fans that walked up to me and my sons to say something about the Crosby game they either attended or watched on TV. People talk about Crosby in other threads also. We just haven’t been bottom feeders in recent years so we understand it comes with the territory.
  10. Sitting out here at practice it looks like one of the defensive linemen and one of the receivers will be a full go this week. Other running back and receiver are suited up too but don’t look ready to fully contribute. Starting to look kind of promising if we can stay on the same path.
  11. Trust me, y’all will be an after thought in two weeks. From what I saw at the game Friday y’all will be playing Kingwood Park for 4th place and then will go lose by 30+ in bi-district. It would be futile to spend a lot of time breaking down Baytown Lee.
  12. One thing you would like to see improvement on this game from Crosby is special teams. We muffed a kick for the second straight week, had a punt and crucial extra point blocked. Coverage teams played relatively well but you would like to see those mistakes cleaned up before they cost us like they did in all three of our non-district games last year.
  13. Just watched the film of Lee vs Clear Brook. It’s going to very easy this week for the kids to look past Lee to BH, but if they don’t and focus on the opponent in front of them it’s tough to see how this game isn’t something like 42-0 at the half.
  14. I agree. We should be close to a full go by then and they may be down another receiving option. I think Brandt Wright is going to be a star in the secondary for Crosby over the next two seasons. I believe it was Ja’koby Banks he broke off of for the pick last week? During the FBM game Crosby looked like they may starting to come together in the trenches on both sides of the ball. BH is ok on the offensive line but has some pretty good defensive linemen. I hate that we’re not going to get any practice for that this week.
  15. I don’t think La Porte is a real factor. They haven’t scored scored 47 points on anybody in 5 years though. I’m just highlighting that they look like they’re moving in the right direction in only their second game under a new coach. La Porte’s personnel is probably right there on that second tier of the district this year with BH and KP.
  16. Very good version of Lee to play prior to playing this year’s version of BH. BH is going to have to throw the ball to move it on Crosby in our matchup in a couple of weeks and fortunately Baytown Lee is going to try to do the same thing as well so we’ll get some good reps in the passing game. Lee has some legit personnel at receiver that can give Crosby trouble if we have coverage lapses in the secondary. Their QB is a converted receiver that throws it pretty well and can make a bunch of plays outside of the pocket. One thing about guys being hurt is the opportunity for other kids to step up and I think we’ve found some additional defensive linemen. Crosby played pretty well on the offensive line last week, especially considering FBM’s front 7 had three power 5 kids and with an additional linebacker committed to Arkansas State. I think Crosby will have a lot of success running the football this week. I think this game is about being vanilla as possible while trying to potentially work a couple of the injured kids back in.
  17. I was wondering the same thing but didn’t see any stats on the game yet? I didn’t expect for Texas City to be explosive on offense but thought they should be just as good or better than last year with those underclassmen you mentioned. The 5A-D2 district is a complete toss up.
  18. SMH, yet you don’t remember what triggers that response? How about I never again comment in a Vidor thread and you never again comment in a Crosby thread?
  19. You know how hard they’re going to play against us though, plus there’s going to be the referee thing. They have a solid young QB a couple fast young receivers that may be able to keep them in it for a while.
  20. BH’s QB looked pretty good last night. Very accurate passer and a plus decision maker. Nice willingness to stand in there to make throws even though he’s not the biggest guy. This one should be nothing more than a warmup for the following week.
  21. This result is almost as surprising at the La Porte over Elsik result. Same issue for Texas City as last year, no consistent offense.
  22. It’s cool to take shots at other teams, that’s one of the things the board is for. It’s different to badger a situation though, especially with non-football commentary. Y’all are 0-2 with two real bad losses, I know how disturbed you are. We’ve been there. The last thing you need me doing while y’all are in here talking football is making a bunch of unnecessary comments.
  23. I think there’s a better chance of NS not winning the district than CE King finishing second in it.
  24. And Larkin would go out there and ball on BH. With what I saw at the game tonight I’ll be surprised if BH can stay within 24 points of a healthy Crosby.
  25. Nobody down here really thinks that. The guy that said that usually goes full hyperbole any time someone beats Crosby, especially soundly.
