Congratulations Mike. A great choice. He has been there a long time and as been a big part of their past success. Glad he got the job. He will do well.

My concern is that she has ZERO ties or connections to the state of Texas. All her contacts are in Florida. Tidwell was ----As he said----a high school coach that was coaching in college. He had great rapport with the states high school coaches. He was also a great promoter.
I am hoping that Lamar AD Jason Henderson made the right call of this job. I am certainly going to pull for her and hope that she can build on what Tidwell and staff did. She won a lot of games at her previous stop with not many resources. Here is to Coach Harmony The best of luck -
I have heard that the AD has been out actively pursuing candidates for this job. He is working pretty hard to go get a quality coach. I know that he has contacted a few coaches that have state tournament experience. I think they will end up with a good fit for the job.

She was a great player who played for a very good coach. I am sure that she picked up alot when she played and probably more since she quit playing. She was a student of the game while in high school and am sure that is still the case. Being from Orangefield she has a real vested interest in the program. And because she is local maybe she will get the benefit of the doubt on some decisions that may not be popular. Age is a matter of mind. If I remember correctly...Bobby Knight got his first head coaching job at age 24....and that was at Division I Army. I think that she will do well!!!

Navasota won 69-27

If Hamshire Fannett doesn't get competitive with its coaching stipiends then it will have a hard time convincing any "good" coach to take this job. This is a job that could be taken from "good" to "great" in a short amount of time. They need a coach with some vision and some enthusiasm. Just not sure just how committed the powers to be about making this happen.
-
I heard that the Hamshire Fannett program had some good young kids and was a program on the rise. We played them a couple of years ago and was impressed with how hard their kids played. They NEVER quit and just kept coming at you. Of course...seems like every team we play from the golden triangle plays hard.
Silsbee might be running out of talent and their coach feels like he can win more at HF. Haven't talked with him but i know that he works very hard and his teams are always prepared. -
Agreed on the post about Hardin Jefferson coach Janet Davis. A very classy lady who ALWAYS has her team ready to play.
District 21-AAA has quite a few solid programs with outstanding traditions. Great fan support is a staple in these programs.
With all these juniors coming back looks like another fun season in 2011-12. -
In Navasota
Giddings won 57-47
In Giddings
Giddings won 70-63
In Huntsville
Navasota won 53-52 -
This is going to be a great game. Two teams that play very similar styles. Both very well coached. Both have outstanding traditions of winning and both have great fan support. This should be a tremendous game to watch!!!! Godd luck to both programs.

Remember that Coach Tidwell took a pretty big pay cut three years ago to come to Lamar from his associate head coaching job at TCU. His wife has a very good job as a reading specialist in a big school district in the metroplex. As you get toward the end of your money making career ...one must think about $$$$$

24-AAA can't be released until Madisonville's season is over. Will tell you that Madisonville and Rudder dominates the team

Oh...I am VERY sure that Coach Sanders is glad to be out of Caldwell. But more importantly....I know how excited he is to be at a place where he has athletes who want to get better. Kids who have a passion for basketball and take it seriously. Plus...I'm sure he is thrilled to be at a place that has a strong administration.

I gotta be the first to congratulate Coach Jost and the entire Orangefield team on a great season. I know they don't feel it now...but they will all look back at all they accomplished this season and be proud. Playing Madisonville as tight as they did shows their true character.
The future is very bright for the BOBCATS next year,
Congratulations to Aimee Scales on a tremendous game tonight. The Madisonville coach spoke VERY HIGH on you, your ability but mosrt importantly...YOUR HEART!!! A great way to finish your career. Best of luck to you in the future, -

It was another tremendous field this year. Waller is as strong as they have ever been. LaPorte, who just three years ago, went 0-6 in this tournament, went 5-1 this season. Lumberton is really good. Kids play extremely hard and are well coached. Sealy, Bastrop’s Cedar Creek and Cleveland are all rebuilding but were very well coached. Teams like coming to Navasota because they get 6 games in 3 days. A true round robin tournament. They know when they play all 6 games. Easy to schedule other events while they are in town. A couple of the coaches took their teams to Santa’s Wonderland in College Station. Another couple of teams went to watch Texas A and M practice.
