Completely different runs. WOS had three dominant pitchers and were able to outlast people in a series. If you ask most people that follow HS baseball closely (coaches, and fans) most would tell you that one gamers and series are completely different animals. It is much easier to knock off a dominant team once than it is twice. The only similarities I see between the two teams are they are both finding a way to get the job done.

Perhaps both sides are parsing their comments somewhat.  I tend to more believe the Jasper version of using Beck field.  That is all that seems to make sense to me from a fans standpoint.  The fans, all fans, not just Jasper and LCM fans are the big losers in this.  After LCM and Jasper sell their alottment of tickets to the game, there probably will be none at all for people that would like to see a good game, and some just might like to see McMillan pitch.  Who knows what the future holds, but someday he might be one of those stories you could tell your grandkids about seeing pitch.  Then again, maybe not.  Beck field would have still been a "home" game for LCM.  If Jasper had not cared about the fans, they could have insisted on a Houston or Huntsville venue to get the game away from the screaming GT fans.
But it is what it is.  Carthage brought plenty of screaming fans to Lufkin.  It still did not win the game for them.  Let's play ball.

For the year .. That's pretty

I expect to see some good pitching duels in this one.
Game 1 - McDowell  VS.  J. Dallas
Game 2 - Doiron VS. Robertson
Game 3 - Bergeron  Vs. C. Dallas

KJ deserves it! Going through the injury, and coming back like he has making a difference in the team. WOS looked flat without him! My boy told me he thought KJ has the bat pop in 4A baseball and it showed in this game.

WOW.  there are some local teams who need to look into this rule.
(a)  NOT AN AMATEUR. For purposes of competing in an athletic contest, a student in grades 9-12 is not an amateur if that individual, within the preceding 12 months received money or other valuable consideration for teaching or participating in a League sponsored school sport or received valuable consideration for allowing his or her name to be used in promoting a product, plan or service related to a League contest or accepted money or other valuable consideration from school booster club funds for any non-school purpose. It is a violation of the athletic amateur rule for parents of student athletes to accept tickets to athletic contests where their children are participating. It is also a violation for parents of student athletes to accept free pass gate admission to athletic contests where their children are participating unless they are at the contest in another capacity, i.e., if the parent is an employee of the school or a board member, or working at a concession booth, etc. (See Official Interpretations #11 and 12, Appendix I.)

Get used to the score keeping giving errors instead of hits in BC. That's why I listen to kogt and watch the games. Stelly gives you the correct stats

I don't see WOS having the season they had last year because of loosing their two best pitchers! JD has a good arm but cant throw every game!

I been all over this thread and multiple threads where is Buddy Garrity with the info, I am surprised he didn't start this thread.  I honestly think Tims/Gaines and Thomas have this wrapped up, but hey be proud of all of them. I know there are many left off who names could have been here, and I am proud of them as well. If I could vote I would have voted Buddy Garrity offensive/defensive stats winner of Willie Ray Smith  Award.

Congrats to all finalist. Thomas is sure to be winner. But just wanna say special congrats to my nephew King. Leading a team from 4th place spot previous yr to 2nd place & a playoff win in 19yrs of school history. And achieving 34 rushing TDs with every team keying directly on him, 41 all purpose tds , with his time being limited some gms. Again congrats to all & good luck.

If mine was offered Kilgore, Blinn, or 21st Street College I would be just as proud. There are athletes of all school in the NFL, Cam Newton should I say more came from Blinn.

both are good kids  one thing sticks out in this dallas has led the mustangs to state big dance two years in a row. as the qb for the stings his team has lost only three game and one was to the state champs gilmer..dallas  has put up  some good numbers in his two years as starter ,HE IS A TEAM LEDER ON THE FILED AND OFF IN CLOSEING LET ME SAY THIS  I WSH GOOD THING FOR DONTRE.

REALLY! Then it sounds like to me maybe the Sims kid from WOS should win the award! DEFENSE wins CHAMPIONSHIPS correct!!

My thoughts are both young men (JD and Dontre)deserve the award due to their outstanding skills and leadership of their teams.  I think it should be determined strictly on stats but that's just my opinion. There is no doubt that JD has an awesome selection of players he could go to but he still had to get it done. Dontre didn't have the weapons JD had but still found a way to go several rounds deep in the playoffs. Tough pick! I would be glad to see either one win the award! Congrats to all that were selected.
