Proud to see #12 get first team recognition in football and basketball for his Senior season. Do you guys think they will have any all-district or all-whatever games this year to mix the kids up and watch them play in a showcase game? I’d love to see him play with some studs, he’s really a great role player, defender and facilitator that was trying to carry the load. Hopefully COVID didn’t cancel all that, either way it was a fun season. Even though our team didn’t perform as well as they could have and took too long to get it together, I enjoyed it. So much so that you’ll probably see me lurking around the Vidor games next season and providing some commentary for the SETX people who like to keep up with the Pirates.

Yes, I was around but I didn’t not know that. Didn’t follow Silsbee posts at all because we never played them until this year. Wish I had though, I might have to go dig those up in the archives, sounds like an interesting read.

12 year starter... must have had trouble with the high school curriculum. Had an older build and look but never grew to a respectable height as a 30 year old.

Although I generally agree with the sentiment of this statement. We should be able to criticize and critique individual player’s performances on this forum. I don’t think the OP said anything too egregious or controversial. Just stated the stats, which are facts. This has to be a parent or coach posting an objection. The kid in question will be just fine, he is the future for Silsbee. They will go as far as he takes them and this is what you saw vs HH. He finally had a bad game and they lost, no shame, it happens. He has been holding his own and caring more than his fair share of the load during the playoffs. He’s a baller and he will bounce back, if you think this will break him then you are crazy.

I've been high on HH all year and boy have they delivered, only 1 loss all season... Amazing but I still take the Tigers by 5 here, Silsbee has played a brutal regular season schedule compared to HH and even had the tougher path through the playoffs. They are battle tested and hitting their stride at the right time. Sell out to stop #10 and lets see what the rest of their guys can do vs that Silsbee defense.

Wow, ok. Things are moving quickly for Silsbee and the young Tigers are hitting their stride just at the right time.

Just seeing all this, lost my phone last week in an unfortunate boating accident. Silsbee pulled it off, hot damn Tigers way to go. I had them picked to pull the upset by 5 and they bested that by 10, great job boys.

Good points but I’m interested in if JY can handle the pressure that Silsbee will bring. I’m sure they have played a tough schedule, have they faced aggressive defensive teams like Silsbee? Does Yates have elite guard play to deal with it? I’m not saying they can’t handle it, maybe they can maybe they won’t. I know nothing about them so I’m depending on you for info. I have only have seen Silsbee and I know they can bring it.

I’m sure the game will be broadcast in some form correct? I hope so, I want to watch this one or at least listen to it.

It’s a shame what has become of the Texans and the Rockets... at least the Stros still have a glimmer of hope. Although that cheating thing didn’t go over too well and Verlander is already done for the year. I’ll add something here to stay on topic, I figured Silsbee would win but they went on out and dominated the game. I think they are just starting to hit their stride this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if they go far. I know nothing about Yates but people say they use a heavy pressure defense. I don’t see how you can have a more aggressive press defense than what Silsbee can apply without fouling everybody out. Should be a very interesting game, I think the Tigers keep it close if not pull the upset. One think is for sure, it will be a battle of endurance and Silsbee seems pretty deep to me. Maybe not Yates deep, I heard they have like 30 dudes on the bench... But Silsbee doesn’t lose much when they substitute, at least not on the defensive end.

What have they lost one game all year, people underestimate them and even their best player. They don’t look like the biggest or most athletic team but they know how to play team basketball.

Wow, sounds like HJ just gave this one away... but congrats to BC for taking advantage. I can’t believe I missed this game, right there in Vidor’s gym. I thought they were playing on Friday night which I wouldn’t have been able to attend. Damn the luck they played on the weekend, I could have made it and missed a good one.

Yea that’s what I figured, they weren’t necessarily worried about killing Vidor or showing out but more concerned with setting a standard of consistency and getting primed for the playoff run. I know I like what I saw from them, hands down the best team we’ve seen and we played some really good ones early on.

Such a young team, I don’t think a Sr started, 2 FR, 2 Soph, 1 Jr. You know they are going to make some noise in the near future. If they play the way they did tonight and show no mercy, I wouldn’t be surprised if they make noise this year. I don’t see how teams deal with all that pressure unless you have a couple of guards who can handle it or if the refs take over the game.

Ballgame is about over and there’s a dunk for Silsbee, they were looking for that one. Up 45, the Tigers continue to press, snow bird and look for leak outs. I’d say they wanted to show Vidor something tonight, mission accomplished. Good luck in the playoffs, if you play this way and get favorable crews there is no stopping you. #14 and #1 look like really good players for the Tigers.
