3rd and long Busted play fumble QB smoked punt
-
Pass 20 yards over the left side hits the intended receiver in the chest and bounces out then hits another in the hands but falls harmlessly to the turf.
-
Presnap Flag -5 Vidor short run 2nd and 14
-
5 yards run up the middle gets a 1st to the 40
-
Vidor with their first pass, underneath complete for 5
-
I got you buddy. Stangs... dang autocorrect better learn my patterns.
-
I will say, I don’t think this is the full Vidor squad out here but I could be wrong. There are a few that should definitely be starters but I don’t see them out there or on the sideline, so that means... probably not a lot WOS looks way better than us this year.
-
Deep pass jump ball end zone into double coverage, neither DB tracks the ball well WOS receiver goes up and gets it TD 3-0
-
Stangs from the Vidor 25 inc pass oob
-
Vidor runs twice and fumbles Mustang ball deep in Pirate territory.
-
Shouldn’t have dropped that pick the play before... then you give up a 50 yard TD.
-
Looks like 3rd and 10 from midfield. Screen... no tackling... no one allowed to touch him... Touchdown... 2-0 WOS
-
Vidor LB just dropped an easy interception, gifted them that one...

Man those nachos were good, really hit the spot. I can never resist the nachos at a football game, there’s just something about it. WOS converted a 4th and 1 at midfield, moving into Vidor territory.

Looked like WOS got down the field fairly easily for an opening drive TD but what would I know I was stuck in the concession line. Had to start the year off right with a chili, cheese nachos with jalapeños and a Dr Pepper. I did watch the Pirates go nowhere with a quick 3 and out punt. The QB is very small this year, he’s a lil fella.

That would be great to see, too much tinkering around with things last year and not enough smash mouth bully ball. Should have played him and few others both ways last year would have made a difference. But on to this season, excited to see how they scheme and what they can do with this group.

They couldn’t block him but we lost that game somehow... so many games our D played great and still took the L. Hopefully they have the offense figured out this season. I’m hearing there’s no more tinkering around with pistol or shotgun snaps, just straight up old school under center slot-t with a more capable passing game mixed in. 3 years in a row the offense has been off just enough to cost us games, we’ll see if they have returned to form. Changing quarterbacks each season probably didn’t help, they need to find a kid who can run it for a few years. I’ll be watching the special teams too as that was a huge problem that directly cost us a couple wins last year. I hope to see a tradition punt formation, no more scramble and squib 20 yard punts or pooch kicks that put your defense in terrible field position every time. Also hope to see a capable punt returner and kicking game.

Do you know what time they are kicking that scrimmage off? I don't want to be late for that one.

I have noticed that too, last season was stressful with all the quarantine and evacuation going on at the start of the season. I have heard nothing but good things about this group of kids though, excellent turnout during all of the offseason workouts. Who really knows if they will be better than last years team but they might have a better end result if they catch a few of the breaks we couldn't capitalize on last year. RBs and LBs should be strengths this year, got the nose guard covered we'll have to see who wins out at both DE positions and most of the secondary. O-line will be young but should be solid and the new QB will be exciting to watch.

Oh man is it football season again already... got my season tickets ready. Got to catch all the home games and have to make it to this scrimmage every year. Turns out I was a year early with my Vidor 4A district champs prediction last season, this is definitely the team that gets it done.

Good call.

I hope Vidor picks it up and figures it out the second half of the season, they only beat BC and WOS the first time around.

Found this nice little 3 run dinger, Pirates were able to do some damage but not enough to make up for their mistakes and I agree with the post above. [Hidden Content]

No sorry I had to leave early.

Cleanup hitter leads off the bottom half of the 4th inning for the Pirates. Hard groundout to second, 1 down. Slow grounder to third, he’s safe beat it out by a step. 1 on 1 out, foul tip strikeout. 2 outs runner on 1st, pop out to short. 6-1 OF end of 4, hopefully the Pirates can battle back and complete the comeback. Going to be tough, this pitcher will make them earn it. I don’t think he’s allowed a free base runner and only at 51 pitches.
