  1. The Spindletop Sox 13U Baseball Team has begun actively filling roster spots for the upcoming PreSeason and Regular Season     The Myers Baseball Club Offseason Training is just about finished (Nov 22) and we will transition into the PreSeason (Dec - Jan)   We are very interested in having 12 y/o athletes 'Play Up' for our 13U Team as well     This Team will be coached by Logan Champagne, as he is beginning his coaching career under MBC - I (BJ Myers) will be active in the instruction and training for the Team, and will oversee it's process - but will remain as the 'Bench Coach/Dugout Coach' for the 13U Team during the season.  Every other member of the Staff will be apart of the Coaching/Training/Instruction particular to their specialty to each Player.   We will set the Schedule when the tournaments become available (many places post their tournaments for the Spring around the end of Dec/Jan time of year)   We are expecting to have:   1 Tournament in Mid-December 1 Tournament in January    **These 2 tournaments will count towards the PreSeason Training   2 Tournaments in Feb 2 Tournaments in Mar 2 Tournaments in Apr 3 Tournaments in May 2 Tournaments in Jun   **These 11 tournaments will count towards the Regular Season Training   1+ Tournaments in Jul/Aug   *Additional tournaments after the State Tournament will count toward Post Season Training - The season will go on as long as the Team can take it/wins           Please feel free to contact if you may have any questions - we do have key positions available    [email protected]   409.720.8951
  2. Hard to believe that we are just about finished with 3 months of great Offseason workouts.  We are nearing the completion of a couple of our Training and Development Classes, in which we will outline season charts/goals for the player based on their skill development.  We are getting closer and closer to starting our Throwing Strength and Development (not until after Halloween) and we have spent a lot of time on band work + core/back development to handle the rigors of the 'over-hand throwing motion.'   Big Thanks to Coach Jaden Dillon for sharing his time and information with us on the training/development practices of the Atlanta Braves Minor League System - *you have to be blind to not notice the potential he has in becoming a great coach from this area.  With his added information, we have beefed up the diversity and intensity of our workouts for our Offseason.   Our focus on Endurance has shifted to Agility now that we are nearing the PreSeason.  As a group we have completed: 10 Miles Ran *only 1 mile has been ran over 10 minutes - Avg group mile time of: 7:51 (with athletes from 12-16 y/o) 22 Hours of Physical Training aside from specific baseball motions (*main focus has been on Lower Body and Back strengthening) Barefoot training in the Sand Pit (focuses on Agility and Balance training) Running with teammates handling a 10lb medicine ball in coordination with each other (learning how to work in small spaces with your teammates) Parachute Sprints Bungee Jumps Barefoot in the Sand Introduction to basic Yoga to increase flexibility, balance, and breathing 40 min. combined One-legged Balance/Iso Training and...well, I can't tell you every single thing we've done on our Saturday Workouts because well...we are in competition with each other - I do have to let my competitors find out on the field what we've done.   Along with our Saturday Offseason Workouts - we have put in a lot of position specific training, such as: 27 1/2 HOURS - not a typo, Hours - of Catcher specific training.  Covering all 3 Phases of the position, in great detail, and maximizing reps to develop competency in the athlete's skill. 15 Hours on Offense specific training (i.e. Hitting) - Over the past month, we've added technology to our training with filming the athlete during the drills, then reviewing the film during the workout so the athlete can actually see what he is doing.  I have had the fortune of talking with many other 'Hitting Specific Trainers' in the country (CJ Stewart & John Peabody) to breakdown many 'theories' and 'practices' of Hitting Technique...working hard to codify what you need to train on as a baseball hitter going forward in your career --> The Process 7 1/2 Hours on Infield specific training - covering everything from: Fielding mechanics to advanced footwork on all 4 IF positions.   We have our Outfield T&D Classes starting Nov 2, along with our Pitcher T&D Classes starting Nov 16.   Our Offseason Workouts (starting Nov 1) will begin our 'Throwing Program' to get the arms ready for the upcoming season after 3 + full months with no throwing to allow the body time to rest. (plenty of good ol' fashion Long Tossing - after spending the past months on rubber bands, I'm very excited to see what the athletes are able to do)   Less than 1 complete month left (Nov 22) until the Offseason is over and the PreSeason begins.  With that said:   Starting Nov. 1st - MBC will be actively recruiting athletes to fill the Jr High Spindletop Sox Roster - 13U.   We are urging those who have the Passion - we WANT eligible 11 and 12 y/o baseball players to consider "Playing Up" Get some Quality Training on a bigger field - we are asking you to sacrifice the 'in the moment, short-term success' for 'long-term development and success.'  We are going to field the vast majority of the roster with 13 y/o players - but in order to offer a true teaching platform for Leadership Development, we need younger players.  Think of this a a ticket of not having any "pressure to succeed" while playing baseball - we are wanting you to gain Experience so you can, in return, become a future leader and enter the Leadership Development Training for the Jr. High Team when you become 13.   Only Requirement (aside from the physical skill to "hold their own" on the diamond) - The Player must WANT to Play Up - can't be scared...fully knowing the challenges he will face.  You give us the drive and work ethic, we'll give you a uniform and a season unlike anything you've ever been apart of.   Yes - you can participate in your local Little League during the season, however you have to understand - every athlete involved with MBC is expected to work hard, and we push you to your limits.  We are here to expose you to the demands of College Baseball as early as we can.   Our theory?  The younger the athlete comes to understand The Process (the REAL Process, not "sugar coated" because they are ____ years old - we push you with the demands The Staff encountered during their time in baseball beyond high school - the ugly, gritty, super tough, real-world of baseball...the sooner you grasp it - the better off you will be, and you will have the tools you need to thrive in this Game when it become 'cut-throat')   Roster Specs for Jr High Spindletop Sox:   Catcher - Catch 1st Game, Full Catcher - Catch 2nd Game, Full Infielder Infielder Infielder Outfielder Outfielder Utility Utility Utility Pitcher Only - Sat. Game 1 Starter Pitcher Only - Sun. Game 1 Starter   We are a DEFENSE FIRST Team   We do not live on the "long ball" - Home Runs will be accidental.  We do not care about the size of the athlete because...it really doesn't mean anything.  We want guys who want to be challenged and learn things they never knew of in baseball - especially the guys who have spent their baseball life taking "private lessons"...haha...if you only knew how much of the Game you are missing by training in a cage...       Phone Number to contact - 409.720.8951   email - [email protected]   website - ([Hidden Content])             Thank you for your time, consideration, and most importantly (to the vast majority *oh! threw in a rhyme there, haha) the motivation   Yours __________,   Coach BJ Myers
  3. ***A Sample from the MBC Aug-Sept Training Review*** Tremendous work thus far - we took Sunday's Catcher Training and Development Class 6 pretty light just to ensure we don't "over-work the body" (man...it was HOOOOT yesterday at the park) Right now were routinely putting alot of effort in the physical training, and the results are coming in better than anticipated. With a mixture of 8 active athletes ranging from 7th grade to 10th grade we've completed: 6 Miles Ran with no 1/2 mile over 5 min With charting times to compete against at the beginning of each month - there was an Entry Time Avg (first mile ran) of 7:58. After the first test from training we saw the avg time drop to:7:21 (37 second improvement on average with 7/8 athletes besting their Entry Time. 60 Yd Dash  The mark to hit will always be 6.9 - so that is what we aim to best. With the Entry Time Avg (first 60 ran, *keep in mind this was after first mile ran, body was hurting more due to not being in shape) of: 8.75. After the first test from training we saw the avg time drop to: 7.69 (literally over a 1 second improvement on AVERAGE. 3 athletes saw an improvement by >1 1/2 seconds) *main answer to this really should go towards "Athletes bodies are more in shape and better prepared to perform. Can't necessarily say 'speed was increased' more than you can say 'body wasn't as tired after 1 month of training to test the 60 after testing the Mile'"...either way, on the big picture - the RIGHT improvements are being made. 3 Cone and 5 Point  These are tests that are only taken for the purposes of improving balance, change of direction, agility, quickness while moving in small spaces, and a couple other MBC qualities we are trying to improve that often get overlooked in an athlete's Baseball Training. With the Entry Time Avg (*after testing the first mile and 60 **we run 2 60's and take the average of both to establish their time, not their best, but their average**) of the 3 Cone saw:5.2 seconds. After first test avg: 4.97 seconds. The Entry Times of 5 Point: 6.7 seconds. After first test avg: 5.57 seconds. *MBC's explaination, "The most obvious improvement that happened wasn't necessarily the time, but the overall balance the athlete has gained while moving/changing directions. The simple reason the times increased was mostly due to the athlete 'understanding what to do' for the drill and having better control of their body while moving. Once the athlete shows a true understanding of the purpose behind the drill/test, their is an increase in overall effort to the drill - and following with the Culture of the Club, a competitiveness and competition is created within the drill. These are simply a couple Running Times that are being published. It is important to note that no MBC athlete is cleared to throw a baseball over 30 ft until late October/early Nov. At the current moment we have accumulated over an avg of 150 reps on: lower body strength and flexibility, shoulder/scapula strengthening and flexibility, core strengthening and flexibility; plus routine running with medicine balls w/ teammates, and various other drills MBC is aiming to achieve "Team building", "Hunger for Competition" , "Work Ethic", and understanding of the overall true "Process" you have to make yourself apart of to play Baseball at the highest levels. Everything is being documented - and I am honestly working my ass off to not only get the most out of the athletes, but to publish the results. I know this will work because this isn't anything "new" yet is is "extremely hard" (like it is suppose to be) - it's simply just what I've learned to be "true" with a few touches of my own creation and coordination/organization. It's come to be our main phrase at MBC that, "The trick is - there is no trick, there are no shortcuts. There are those that Do, and those that Don't. The choice is yours, and yours alone to be whichever you want to be in Baseball." The Culture is really infectious, and I've noticed parents of athletes starting to participate in their own 'workout' while the athletes are training. (Equipment is simple to use, and is available for all Members, plus walking a mile is better than sitting in an air conditioned facility while the sun is out - don't forget your Vitamin D people! haha)  An understanding of 'breaking down the Game' into smaller fragments to create "Games within the Game" are starting to become clearer for the athlete to visualize. Evidence is simple with 3 athlete's already creating, on their own under no direction to do so, unique and challenging drills to test certain skills - and quickly thereafter establishing some form of criteria around the newly created drill to make it a competition among each other. (Most popular now? The Pole Balance - what is it? Simply 3 inches of a pole sticking out of the concrete with a diameter of  inches and a support beam about 3 inches away from the pole in the North direction. The competition? Balancing on one foot, then hopping onto the other foot and balancing without the other foot touching the ground. How many hops can you complete?)...and from personal experience I've done 3, and that was after 50+ reps...INCREDIBLY hard Starting next weekend, and lasting until November 22, we will begin our "Bootcamp" - During this we aim to yield an increase in overall muscle strength in combination with the cardio/endurance training. Once throwing is cleared for MBC athletes we believe that after 3 months of shoulder/scapula and core strengthening and development that when we test MPH from Entry (most likely weekend after Halloween) to first test, and to beginning of season there will be an increase. And it is anticipated that the increase in MPH wont necessarily be "a stronger arm" but more importantly a "more fit body" better prepared and developed to endure 'throwing hard.' The results of this won't become available until the End of the Season. We are judging our work on "Arm Strength" not by MPH, but by Durability. We are looking for ZERO Athletes to endure an arm injury related to throwing through the entire duration of the Season. Like I said...it's nothing "new" just very very hard to stay disciplined to and it is exciting seeing these young athletes putting in this kind of work towards their Game. These are only from our Saturday MBC Training Classes - the real exciting development and improvements are coming from our Catcher and Offensive(Hitting) Training and Development Classes. Already over 17 hours ONLY on Catching and 4 hr 45 min on ONLY Hitting (oh yes, the blisters on your hands from hitting have already become 'normal' - we are working to create calluses ready in time for the Season. *often overlooked, but very important part of training for a Baseball Player to perform at high levels*               Personal Opinion from Observation     Last night I was in attendance at Marauder Park to watch the first games of the SETX Fall Baseball League, and I enjoyed seeing and talking to the familiar faces I've come to meet during my time as a Youth Coach in this area.  On a few personal notes that I think should be addressed (and I wouldn't know of any other to say this, than myself...because I know we were all thinking it) The league is FANTASTIC for the 13U teams - great idea, and a range of 'balance' among the teams to compete very well against each other through the Fall.  Getting more experience on the bigger field is exactly what is needed for athletes at that age - Yes, yes, yes, yes - Kudos.  For Jr. High athletes, this is a league that can really take off and do well The Orioles should go ahead and be given the league championship trophy, or whatever they give to the champ.  Look...that team is too big, too old, and far too talented to be playing in this league against these teams.  I worry about the bad habits that will be formed from athletes that can play the Game at an impressive level against competition that isn't in "their league"...they do not need to be playing in this League unless you evenly divide the players on the teams throughout the league.  Out of all honesty - the SETX Fall Baseball League should designate the Orioles to be their 'Flagship Team' and send them to Houston to compete.  Take the money they paid as 'entry' (or whatever) and put it toward Travel and Tourn. Entry Fee's for them to compete.  This League has a Golden Opportunity to gain notoriety on their success against tougher competition, and create a drive for the 13U players to WANT to make the Orioles when they are older so they can play in Houston...which, in return, creates "returning players" to the League each other with the possibility of gaining new players each year... that Team looked pretty crisp for September - and I know they would hold their own very well in Houston. and lastly...1hr 20 min doesn't do the Game, Players, or Parents of Players it's due justice - I saw a pitcher only get 3 warm up pitches in a bases loaded situation in the 3rd inning...come on...3 warm up pitches?!?! 2 Pitchers left the mound hinting at pain in their elbow, and players taking their positions from the dugout only had 1 (if they were lucky) rep to warm up before "Balls In" was called.  I understand the concept - but please understand the practice of this concept won't be as beneficial as you imagine.  I know the current culture and economics of Baseball has driven it to become "Get as many Games in as Quick as Possible" but at what Cost?  This Fall Baseball League looks better than I imagined and really believe there is something special that can happen with this League.  While it is still early, I think it will be easier to manage a few pieces to make it Grander - the people, resources, and players are all there for it to happen.               Come out and see what we do -  Saturdays 2-4pm at Doornbos Park are open for the public and people to 'Try Out'  ...now the private training and individual position training development classes are only for MBC Members to participate in any, and all they choose to.   Starting Next Sunday from 4:30 - 7pm MBC will start:  Middle Infield Training and Development Classes.   Selection for the Spindletop Sox Baseball Team (Jr. High Regular Season) to play from Dec. - Jun/Jul will be: Dec. 6 & 7 *Only MBC Athletes are eligible for selection Walk On selection will be: Jan 4     Selection for the Spindletop Sox Baseball Team (High School Summer Team) to play from Apr/May-Aug/Sept will be: Dec. 6 Jan 4 Jan 11 Feb 1 Walk On selection will be: Feb 15     Yours Truly :),    Coach BJ Myers   MyersBaseball.com   409-720-8951   P.S. - I've received the voicemails, and all I ask is (whomever you are) to not call me under a "Restricted Number" if you are trying to get a hold of me.  I have no problems discussing anything I do if you want to talk about it (you obviously have a very strong opinion against me) but calling from a Restricted Number...I do apologize, I will never answer any call that comes up "Restricted" haha - would you?
  4. MBC will offer a subscription (to its Members) to use the Game Changer App during the season.   [Hidden Content]   *Find which Team your child plays for - then click 'Live Scoring' - !App will activate in December - start of PreSeason!     This means that if your child plays for the Sox, or is affiliated with any MBC Showcase Event, and you are unable to attend - you will be able to follow all progress of the Games, and Tryouts LIVE - and for FREE on your phone/computer.   Just another way we are working to provide the most complete Baseball Training Experience - Coming Very Soon (as I am still writing many HTML scripts to enhance the website and its features) MBC will offer ONLINE PRACTICES along with ONLINE TRAINING, accessed as either a Web Conference or series of Power Points and Videos with Transcripts.   "It's not what you know - it's how you Apply what you know"     The Game is very much changing, and the manner in which Training is conducted is evolving - Principles of Play that once were 'absolute' are now 'abstract' and being challenged.   You disagree?  (For Example: and this is 1 or many) Look at the style in which the Game is being played at the highest levels - does your child even know the Principles of Defensive Shifts...? or do they know to just "move over there"...or are they even aware that the manner in which Defense in Baseball has evolved? (Does your child's Coach acknowledge, or dispute the Change in the Game?)         I'll be in attendance throughout the year - feel free to chat if you may have any questions, concerns, complaints - or even if you just want to talk Baseball, I never stop talking about the Game.   Good luck to all - and have a safe start of the Fall Season!   The Spindletop Sox will select its Roster starting:   December 6 and 7   Walk-On Player Selection:   January 4     - Coach BJ Myers   MyersBaseball.com   409.720.8951
  5. There's my email ([email protected]) - and my phone number has been listed (409) 720-8951 (and is posted on my website) - I have yet to receive ANY form of contact from any of you.  If your anger/frustration is towards me, then why not speak to me about it?  Hit me up on twitter @Myers_Baseball or even on facebook - BJ Myers   Rounder17 - please do call so we may discuss your frustration with me.  I do have questions about your "money back guarantee" you made before last season and your "2 year varsity project" that you freely copy/pasted from me while mocking my work. Feel free to sign your name at the end of your posts so I may continue the conversation - or do you prefer to blast me with anonymity?     Have a wonderful day, and I look forward to meeting you in the days/months to come!   - BJ Myers
  6. Regardless of which establishment you choose to participate with - understand you do have a choice.   Along with that choice, YOU are the one in charge of the situation - and with that power, you should hold those that are instructing your children accountable.   Just a few Questions you need to ask:   1. What colleges are you contacting, or talking to, in regards to my son?    - If the answer is "none" ...you should demand more from them.  If your child's instructor stops working on improving your child after you leave their sight - then you are only getting 'partial coaching.'  There are countless hours of work that your child's coach should provide for you outside of any building, or field.  Emails, phone calls, and meetings are just a portion of what your coach should provide - ask to view your child's Training and Performance Chart and Outline of Future Training...if one doesn't exist for your child, then you should demand more from your child's instructor.  How can your child fully develop if there is not a plan set in place *on paper*, goals charted, and information from your child's training to track the progress of their development?   2. Are you improving the vitality of my child?    - If the answer is "we train baseball skills, not health"...you should demand more physical training and health education from them.  Working on your swing is only about 10% of the Baseball Training your child really needs to advance.  There are '5 Tools' that your child will be judged on from the eyes of a scout (Arm Strength, Fielding Ability, Speed, Hitting for Power, and Hitting for High Average). Outside of the 5 Tools are the 'Intangibles of the Game' that are also graded (Field/Position Awareness, Communication, Leadership, Game Situation Awareness, High Pressure Decision Making,Performance Etiquette, Endurance, etc...)...what exactly is your child being taught? and is the health of your child sustaining, improving...or are your child's instructors even monitoring/training the health of your child...?   3. Can my child receive instruction from coaches that are employed with other organizations in this area?    - If this answer is anything other than "yes, you are free to gain knowledge/training from any other coaches/trainers you choose" then you are being misled and treated as a commodity. First off, you are a person - nobody "owns the rights" of you or your child.  The path your child is on (should it be one of 'advancing to baseball beyond high school') will be filled with a diversity of knowledge from many different experiences, and perspectives of the Game.  There is not one single person that holds all the answers in Baseball - the goal should be to accumulate as much information/training from as many different people you can and piece together the bits of information that work best to your application of skill to create "your own style of play."  Discovering 'what works best for you' is the key - much like the old adage of "skinning a cat" - there are 1,000's of ways to play this Game.         MBC Coaches will be in attendance at all Marauder Fall Baseball League Games, plus a variety of other tournaments throughout the area during the Fall.   Feel free to ask any question, or voice complaints you may have - We will be there in person so all matters may be dealt with face-to-face.   Should you decide to join MBC while you are a member of any other organization - We will accommodate the transition.  Plus - you are free to participate with any other organization while a member of MBC (now...if the other organization you are apart of declines...maybe you should ask "Why am I not allowed to participate in what I wish to participate in?)     MyersBaseball.com is undergoing a transition from a Personal Site to a Business Site to better accommodate its Members - yet information is available on the site, along with contact information.     We look forward to meeting with the many faces of Southeast Texas Youth Baseball in the months to come,    - BJ Myers [email protected]
  7. Well...major swing and miss on my part.  I appreciate Allen getting a hold of me over the phone, and after he reassured me he is not Coach85 (and I see you open with that very statement) - which is relieving because I hadn't known of a personal issue between us that wasn't resolved already - so things make much more sense now.   I was in the wrong on this one to throw him under the bus, I am sorry - not trying to act all "PC" on the apology, but I will own up for being 100% wrong with my response.  Since he is not Coach85, Allen literally did nothing to provoke a response with me 'throwing some jabs' at him - so the egg is on my face.  I'll own.   I wish you the best of luck as well Allen, and I reported my response to the Admins - My bad man.    - For a "blanket statement" to the post - I "promote myself" because if I don't, nobody will.  I don't have the support that "proven coaches" have because I am building my Coaching Career to become "proven" and with the "feathers I've ruffled" already, if anybody speaks about me - it's often ignorant to the situation and negative.   It's 2014 - and I simply look at it as "marketing."  Call it what you will - but if playing the "heel" in Southeast Texas Baseball is what keeps me in people's minds, then I would be dumb to ignore the potential interest I could generate.  How many Coaches are active in 5+ years of coaching, and how many teams do you see created just within setx...? ...and yet I can't think of many of their names  - so by being the target of these 'already established organizations' only proves to me that I am making good progress.  (Just like the politcal party system...Ya the Dem. hate the Rep....but they will work together to always maintain that the choice will only be between a Dem. or Rep.  They won't allow a 3rd party to survive just to keep it in control of the 2 parties)   I've posted less than 40 posts in my entire time on this site...and many of them have over 400 views, plus there were series of posts made about me, from others, that generated over 1,000 views.  I literally didn't have to post anything, and people were viewing/posting about me...seems like an opportunity to me.  I look at this as: Turn Lemons into Lemonade - and I do not have the "bells and whistles" that comes from the already established organizations.  I have to create with the most modest resources you can imagine...and in the 2 very short years I've spent as a full-time Coach for youth baseball - the training is effective.  Different? Absolutely  Has it never been done?  Haha, of course not.  The game is over 100 years old.   ...so, how does one materialize an idea into the area with already established baseball community, competing with countless people who can provide greater resume's to the public - who already have made a decision they feel comfortable with years previous?   You call it "promoting myself" "immaturity" or even "under qualified compared to the other options" I call it: "getting noticed"  "maximizing an opportunity"  and "disrupting the current status-quo of the baseball community"      - As far as a more accurately response directed to the right person - I am not furthering the conversation unless you sign your name to your posts.  Not being confrontational, I just know I can avoid making the same mistake twice if I knew exactly whom I am speaking with.   All the best, and again Allen - my bad man,   - BJ Myers
  8. It's because I don't think I am the 'all mighty guru of Baseball' and that I still work to study/learn the Game - especially the Coaching/Managing side of the Game.     Funny, but I can remember comments from you, during our time together at Athlete's, complimenting my attention to detail and how effective I have shown to coach *whether it was the 14U team I had, or after tryouts when we'd all meet together and discuss our notes from the players who tried out - can't remember a face to face interaction where you weren't 'positive' towards my work.   I don't know where I did anything personally to you - even during the whole 'potential roster movement' within Athletes (regarding one of your players) where his father approached me and the FIRST thing after my practice I did was talk to your little brother about it, and then call you on the way home about it to be as 'professionally-courteous' as possible to my coworkers.  Every phone and face-to-face interaction I've had with you, to my knowledge, has never been anything 'ill-mannered' towards you.  Hell, to be real, I never knew you had a beef with me until the posts you posted about me on here after "the meeting" I had with my 12U parents - hell man, we played on the Jays together for the MSBL and never seemed to have any problems    I appreciate the Chess shout out because I take great pride in my Chess Game (though my online rating is only 1425 - like baseball, still much for me to learn to improve)   If you feel I act "immature" then why not be glad I'm no longer affiliated with the organization you represent?  If I am so 'under qualified' and 'have no proven track record' then who am I to have any influence on your thoughts, emotions, or actions to even speak out against?   All I know is that you obviously have a personal distaste for me, and I don't know what I did to you to cause it...but hey, that's life I suppose - and I've learned through the short-time I have been involved as a Coach, that I will never please everyone - so I don't try to.   Allen, I have big respect for your Game and how you played the Game.  The crazy deceptive pickoff move and pitching backwards with an emphasis on your inside slider to Right Handed Hitters is a weapon I saw you master, and felt you raised the bar (in this area) when it came to Pitching.  I was even a fan of how ferocious you swung the stick, and can vividly remember seeing you park a deep shot against LCM at Vincent-Beck to take Game 1 of the Reg. Finals in 04 (want to say it was off of Cloeren) - but it seems we are not on the same page when it comes to Coaching. I hope one day we can share the field in peace again - but I do not shy away from rivals, nor competition (To be honest...I welcome it.  It only brings out more intensity in competition -  and I eat that up)   All I know is you proclaim against my "maturity" and how "I would much rather my son play for someone who is proven and conducts theirselves in a mature manner such as Prospects, Gladiators, or Sundevils."  however plenty of people in the stands at Marauder Park saw me extend my hand to you at home plate, and you refusing to shake my hand at the start of the game...hmm...   As far as "being proven" or "guys in this area have gone way farther in their careers than me" - ok, cool.  Anybody with a brain stem can put my resume to another's and see where many others went further - but if you seriously think that being a "proven player" is what qualifies you as a "proven coach" - then I think there is much to the Game you have to learn as well.   I'll see you on the field again - I'm hoping we don't need to succumb to these forms of communication to "proclaim our stances" especially if were are going to be nothing but spiteful towards each other.  We both have each other's phone number - we can communicate directly.     Same thing I offer to others - leave me alone and let me do my thing, and I'll leave you alone to do your thing and see you on the field.  There's no reason we can't be civil - especially if we are both in the business of "leading young adults."   Wish you all the best man,     - BJ Myers
  9. Haha, you would think right?  I am very glad to have played with the Jays to meet/reconnect with many of these guys.  I feel very confident in the abilities of the guys on board and those that know them, know they know the Game.   Who knows - maybe we'll give it a run at topping our 29-1 season from a few years ago?   More additions to the Staff are to come.  Darrel Stevens has agreed to come on board in a part-time role (shift working schedule to work around) and I am in talks with 2 others to join (one part-time, one full-time)   My big goal is to have an 6-8 man coaching staff (including myself) to cover 1 program, divided into 2 teams.  Create as much diversity in "perspectives of the Game" to teach the Athletes, while surrounding myself with wise council to carry out decisions.

MBC is proud to announce the addition of Logan Champagne to the coaching staff!       If you have a strong passion for the Game, knowledge to share that you know will better the future of the Game, and want to work in an environment where you have flexibility to contribute when you have the time to give back to the Game...get in touch with Me - I have opportunities for you to be in the Game.       MyersBaseball.com   [email protected]
  14. Guadalupe Estrada has joined MBC to offer his skills and knowledge to help improve the Game.       MBC will open an Umpire Training and Development Classes for any individuals who wish to: Become an Umpire, Gain/Share Knowledge and Experience in Officiating, or simply Umpires who want actual practice and repetition work in their Ball/Strike calling skills, Field positioning and calling skills - any thing we can think of to work in bettering the abilities of the Authorities of the Game.   MBC believes that by working to better the Officials who call the Game our Players participate in, we can create a better learning environment for our Players to truly understand the "in's and out's of the Game." *1 of the 5 Point of Views taught by MBC*     This is perfect for anyone ages 17- 65+  This service is intended to offer knowledge and practice for people to better their Baseball Officiating Skills, regardless of experience or level of officiating (Little League - Div. 1) We are here to share our knowledge to you.     Starting Sept. 13 - MBC will host a multitude of Umpire Training Opportunities until the Christmas Holiday Break       For more information - please visit: [Hidden Content]
  15. In regards to the statistical figures -   Numbers I used came from the various company's websites.  For SETBA, each private lesson rate vary's by Coach.  I looked at all of them posted, and plugged the average Cost per Minute listed from yall's site. ([Hidden Content])  Athlete's posts theirs on the left-hand column ([Hidden Content]) and Bullet Sports lists on their site as well ([Hidden Content])   In regards to the services offered -   For the Training and Development Classes - yes they are "group lessons" but the structure of the groups, and how the information is taught is where I offer a different approach to Training.   Individual Private Lessons (1 on 1's) are available, for no extra charge to monthly membership dues - I don't do any of this for money.  If you get to know me, you'll find out how much I hate money.   This whole thing is an alternative option to Baseball Training - This is Me, doing My thing to the fullest extent of my abilities, without dealing with the worries of a "select baseball season" and the crap involved with it being the primary function of the collection of people. Yes, we'll play in many tournaments - but those tournaments will have specific training/experience focus for the players. I don't care about the W's and L's from the tournaments my athlete's play in while they are 12-18 yrs old * and the reality is that Nobody cares about your stats or records while you are 12-18 - it's what experience was gained, and how much did you develop/grow that matters. I don't care about "trophy chasing" (Wins and Trophies will be a result of our work, but not Why we are working) - I only care about Baseball and getting my players to the highest levels they can earn, and push them to do better.   This is a 12-Month Training Program, that's it - playing during the regular season is only a part of the training that goes into this, it's not even the primary focus       - Personal Opinion - (because this is my first interaction with a member of another Southeast Texas Organization that is showing opposition to my service; lately I've been working on partnering with many people to create the Southeast Texas Baseball League and have found support)   I would think the "SETX Baseball Training Organizations" would be glad to see me do this because, 1. I'm getting out of the "select baseball" industry - Y'all can have it. Now I have a Private Club in which I can conduct training without having somebody tell me, "well, I don't know if we can do that..."  2. I'm only accepting a limited number of people - Y'all can have the crowded facilities with 100's of athletes wanting to spend money to train with yall.  I encourage my members to gain as much diversity in their training as possible.  I don't see where I am going to hurt yalls Quarterly Statement with my service. 3. I'm only training people that are in my Club, that way I can best organize my Time and Information shared with my Athletes - Once it's going, I could care less who goes where on their own free time, as long as they honor the Once a Week Workout Commitment they have made with MBC.     I am training people, so I treat them as people - Complete freedom to make any choice they feel is best for them, even if it is choosing not to train under my direction.   You get out what you put into this Game - This is my own little creation to be a 'Baseball Haven' for those ball players that want to work as much as possible - with no limit to how much work they can to put in, while not being a financial burden, to better their Game.  I'm simply offering MORE to their training.  They'll know where I'll be and what I'm teaching.  If they want to get more work in a specific skill set? They are free to come to any and all of my T&D Classes ("group lessons") - If a member wishes to have a 1 on 1 private lesson for an hour, hour and half? I don't care, I don't put a watch to it - We set it up and work until we stop.   Check the site - get the details, and man...you should take me up on that offer I made you months ago to go grab a beer and chat (after Mr. McClelland talked with you when you had your outburst to the parents of my team, while I was on the field warming my team up not able to defend myself?)   The entire area has seen us act against each other - but I promise you, we would dominate this area if we found a way to mutually work together.     After all that has gone down during my tenure as a Youth Coach, I would think people would know that if I were attacking a specific organization, and creating a business to hurt a business...well...it is not the Southeast Texas Baseball Academy that is on my radar.  And I'm not even doing THAT!    This is Me telling all the other organizations "I don't care what yall do - I am doing this."   I'm creating a way for me to better the future of the Game, while having a place in the Game.   If your beef with me is simply because you have lost games Head-to-Head against my team, then fine man...can't help you there except "it's not personal that we scored more runs - it's just Baseball."  I don't carry over emotions ignited from the Heat of the Game over into my personal life to act on, I leave it on the field.   Whenever you came over to my dugout, shook my hand and said, "Hey BJ, let's bury the hatchet" - I was hoping I could take you at your word.   I'm not doing any of this to ruin anybody - I'm doing this to better the Game, and myself.  If you are opposed to that - then why are you involved in the Baseball Training Industry?   Like I said - Let's get together and find a way to work together.  The competition between You and Me brings out magic on the field when our team's compete...I think it would be valuable experience for the future of the Game if players got more experience in that experience.     Give me a call - Let's get that beer and get to know each other off the field.  We'll most likely find out that we have a lot in common, and can give more to the Game if we found a way to work together.       Hope to hear from you soon man,   BJ Myers
  16. Now promoting can be simplified - For more information regarding MBC, and ways to contact/communicate directly   Please visit     [Hidden Content]   and follow on Twitter @Myers_Baseball     *be patient, I'm still designing and constructing the site - yet I do have limited areas (including email and mission statement) set, with more information to fill the website as every hour passes.     - Coach BJ Myers
  17. Have you done the math? 12 months of MBC Service @ $200/Month = $2400   The cost of: Matching the amount of time spent training a specific position for more than 40 hours over the course of 4 months (from any other organization in the area) is equal to TOTAL YEARLY COST of MBC Membership.   Plus you have complete freedom to attend any and all Position Specific Classes through the course of the MBC Offseason Training Program (Before Christmas Break - Already 5 blocked and scheduled *Potential of receiving 100+ legitimate Training Hours towards your craft, and only choose the ones you want to develop - and how much you want to develop)   August is the "scary part" because it is start up for MBC - Taking the leap of faith in joining my Baseball Club can have acute, and long-term, improvement to the Quality of your Training.     Why not come hear what I have to say, and ask any questions you may have? Before we discuss anything about "Trying Out for Me" - I want to "Try Out for You"
  18. MBC Trains Under 4 Phases of the Baseball Season: 1. Offseason  2. Preseason  3. Regular Season  4. Post Season   During the Offseason MBC will offer a large multitude of Position Specific Classes until December (which would be the beginning of Preseason, thus the schedule of events will evolve with the appropriate season.)   The first product I am offering - one I am confident to be the 'bread and butter' of MBC - Catcher Development.    The outline is already drawn up - Come to the Prospective Member Meeting to see the diagram, and what will be taught each Sunday.   I challenge anybody to top the amount of instruction, work, information, and overall End Result I will deliver to this class. You are looking at a minimum of 40 hours worth of work and instruction on CATCHING alone - I promise you, your knowledge and skill will improve.   Aug 3 (5pm-730pm @Doornbos Park) Aug 10 (1pm-330pm) Aug 17 (1pm-330pm) Aug 24 (1pm-330pm) Sep 7 *Competency and Proficiency Test 1-4 (1pm-330pm) Sep 14 (1pm-330pm) Sep 21 (1pm-330pm) Sep 28 (1pm-330pm) Oct 5 (1pm-330pm) Oct 12 *C/P Test 1-8 (1pm-330pm) Oct 19 (1pm-330pm) Oct 26 (1pm-330pm) Nov 2 (1pm-330pm) Nov 9 (1pm-330pm) Nov 16*C/P Test 1-12 (1pm-330pm) Nov 23 *Final Class - Set Charts (1pm-330pm)     Along with Catcher Development and Training Classes - the Saturdays and Sundays for every month, until February (Regular Season), are blocked for as much Baseball as you can handle.   MBC Members will receive the outline of all classes (Times and Topics of Training) scheduled for the Offseason - and are free to come to any and all they choose with no additional cost to $200/Month.     Other Featured Position Training that will go on During Aug - Feb: Offensive T&D (>40 Hours) Pitching T&D (>30 Hours) Middle Infield T&D (>20 Hours) Corner Infield T&D (>20 Hours) Outfield T&D (>20 Hours)       Checking the website and rates of the local competition...if you were to schedule 40 hours of Position Specific Training *in this case, Catching* you would pay: Athletes - $60 per 60 minutes of Private Lesson Training = $2400 SETBA - $35 per 30 minutes of Private Lesson Training = $2800  *avg rate of $45 per 45 minutes of Private Lesson Training = $2,399.99 Bullet Sports Academy - $60 per 60 minutes of Private Lesson Training =$2400     How much does it cost for MBC Members? $200 per Month for MBC Member Services = $800 total spent by the time the Catcher Classes are completed     Don't forget that MBC Members have the "Monday-Friday Option"...want to know what that is?   Please attend the MBC Prospective Members Meeting @ Doornbos Park (Nederland - on Ave. H) Friday August 8, 6pm/ Saturday August 9, 1pm/ Sunday August 10, 3pm
  19. Doornbos Park - 2301 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627
  20. The most inventive approach to Baseball Training   To hear the details of the Club and it's Training Methods/Programs - please attend the MBC Prospective Member Meeting @ Doornbos Park (Nederland) Friday August 8, 6pm/ Saturday August 9 @ 1pm/ Sunday August 10 @ 3pm   I am only accepting 4-20 Members for the MBC Offseason Training Program before employing another coach.   This is a Private Baseball Club - Exclusivity is a Principle used here     ** Appetizer of Details pertaining to MBC **   $200/month Membership Fee - never changes all year   Mon-Fri ON CALL for Private Training to any member - no extra cost, regardless of how many private lessons   Access to enroll in any/all MBC Training Classes *each class will be the equivalent to a "camp" offered by the other organizations, at no additional cost.  That's right - having 16 3 hour Catching Classes from Aug - Nov with each class the equivalent to a "Catcher Camp" AT NO ADDITIONAL COST to Membership.   Entry and Travel provided to various Showcase Tryouts in a 200 mile radius   Entry and Travel provided to various Collegiate Camps in a 200 mile radius   Application of Comprehensive Training Platforms to fully develop the 'Complete' Baseball Player - while always remaining Pragmatic (another MBC Principle)   and many more (I just don't trust the copy and pasters that represent my competitors from this area to disclose any detailed information - I am sure this training model will be quickly copied, so I am playing things 'close to the chest' until MBC has reached a 'satisfactory state' in it's operation to disclose training information)       This Club will operate under Principles that are designed to deliver the most complete Baseball Training Experience; with many perks to be had with the implementation of a continual core Principle to the Club: Innovation   All in all, MBC is Me...and I will only train Members of MBC; and by being a Member of MBC you get ALL I have to offer, and the quirky/potent training methods I can conjure.   Your service from MBC will not be completed until my Players physically sign the letter of intent...so as long as you are a Member, I will work to realize that dream for you.  My training services will be given to athletes from the ages of 10-18, ONLY the very serious need to join my Club, as I am not a Coach that fits for everyone.     If you want me to train you - I want you to join MBC   You are looking at spending thousands of dollars less over the course of 12 months than any other organization in the area - literally, THOUSANDS (Calculate it...you have the possibility of limitless private lessons, 100+ position specific training classes that each will be categorized as a "camp" by other organizations *ones you spend extra money for, sometimes in the $100+ range EACH, exclusivity of having me and my training ONLY directed towards a few number of Members *you aren't just one of hundreds...you are one of a few, countless hours of personal training and not having to 'fight for time' from the leader of your training system, 20+ articles of gear, and much much much MUCH more...all at $200 a MONTH   In regards to the Spindletop Sox   It appears that interest in my Coaching may create 2 Teams that will operate under MBC - The Youth Team "3 Year Varsity Project" *in which we are about to undergo Year 2* and the High School "Showcase Development" Team.  The manner in which these 2 Teams will operate will not be disclosed to non-Members as it intends on using various platforms to deliver an Experience that cannot be matched.  Though I will say that the Sox will only have ONE SEASON, PER TEAM, PER YEAR.  So for people in the 'here and now' - the Sox will undergo 4 months of OFFSEASON, then 2 months of PRESEASON before starting the REGULAR SEASON (Feb)   That's right - MBC believes that playing too much baseball at this age can hinder a player's career, and will only operate One Season per Team that way the players may get the adequate rest and physical rehabilitation their body needs after playing all summer.  The vision of MBC is the End Game for it's Members, not so much the 'here and now.' MBC will not "trophy chase" as entering tournaments where we are the "best on paper" conflicts with the MBC Principle of Competition.   Tryouts will not be held until late November, early December so a full Offseason/PreSeason Training Schedule may be implemented to MBC Members.  *Perk to Member * During the Offseason/PreSeason (Aug - Jan), you are free to play in any sport your school offers and MBC will not interfere with that schedule.  MBC Events during the off season will occur on weekends that way Members have freedom to start the new school year with as little interference from obligations made as possible.   Do you love to play multiple sports? I do too - and I welcome multi sport athletes to join.   Do you want a 'break' from playing baseball, but still want to be involved with baseball - Now is the best time to join.   *I hold no grudges over any Athlete - by being a Member of MBC, you are free to employ any other coach of your choice to have lessons outside of MBC - I wont tell you how to spend your money, and I wont ever restrict a Member from exploring an opportunity - MBC is here to offer a better future for ALL involved and I have faith in my ability to deliver that even with the free will to chose another training system, you will chose MBC.     P.S. The Spindletop Sox will operate as one of the many unique Training Platforms used by MBC - Only MBC Members may be selected to the Sox.  This Club is not a "Select" Club, nor "League"...it is completely different to anything offered out there - this is a Private Baseball Club.  The focus of MBC is to teach/develop the most dedicated Baseball players in the most unique way to realize their full potential in Baseball.  We set no limits to how far we can go, and we operate without a 'safety net' - For optimal development, this Club will operate under it's own direction, with it's own Goals, and in full intention of becoming the most elite Baseball Training Program offered in the State.     P.P.S. - Yes, a new facility will be built to house the operations of MBC.  An investor has agreed to contribute the cost of acquiring land (in Port Neches) and the construction of MBC Training Needs (indoor cages, bullpen, practice infield and outfield, study hall/film room, etc...)  *Completion of construction is aimed for late November, keep your eyes peeled for a SOLD sign in the very near future on a patch of land in Port Neches.     Until the completion of the MBC Clubhouse - training will be done at: Doornbos Park, Quinn Indoor Soccer Complex, and various other locations in the area.  *Until the completion of the Clubhouse, private lessons may be held at a location in closest proximity to the Member.   Yes, it is a leap of faith - and Yes, all the parts are not fully in place...but I promise you there are enough people interested that have set the wheels in motion.  MBC is going to happen and it will happen in a short matter of time. You do not want to miss out on the opportunity to be involved in my Baseball Club.     I put my name on this club to portray how serious I am at building this into the most distinguished baseball training system - and to document all training methods under MBC Intellectual Property.  Those that know me know how serious I take Baseball - and those that really know me know that by me putting my last name on this project, I couldn't be more serious about anything else - Myers Baseball Club is my working realization of a dream, and the spoils will be given to those that believe in the quality of product i am capable of producing.  My work will speak for itself, and my work is not validated until I honor all my promises to you - I want 100% of MBC Members to play in some level of college baseball, and I will do whatever I need to do to make that happen.     To Contact Me Regarding MBC - Please Attend the Prospective Member Meeting.  I only deal face-to-face when it comes to Baseball Business.     Do you have further questions regarding MBC? - Ask me, in person, at one of the Prospective Member Meetings.   My first spots will be offered to previous families I have coached - after they get the first option, then the Public will have an opportunity to join.  Space is intentionally meant to be limited, so I can only promise about 6, or so, openings after meeting with my 'First Call Members'  I will only take as many people as I can confortably state to deliver a Quality Product through my Training.  I do have 4 potential Coaches to join MBC, and I am not limiting how big this will grow - as long as the Quality of Product is not compromised.   This is a MUTUAL Business Agreement, not Capital - one of the many key fundamental difference MBC will operate under that differs from all local competitors.       Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you soon   - Coach BJ Myers       ...MBC is offering you what nobody else can...a complete Premium Exclusive Baseball Experience that will yield riches you won't be able to quantify with dollar signs
  21. 1 - The team name will be changed to...Spindletop Sox.  I like it better and feel it gives us more of an "old school Southeast Texas" vibe for a club.   2 - The roster will be comprised of 12 and 13 yr old Baseball players   3 - Auditions and Club information will be posted at the conclusion of our season.  We still are active for the Summer Season (yes, even after playing 48 games so far) so all information will be disclosed after I meet with the current members upon the completion of our season.   All I can really say is...space will be limited and these are going to be all of my "really good ideas" put together for an incredible experience.   Feel free to contact me after July 21 for more information on Club Membership   - Coach BJ Myers 409.720.8951
  22. The Southeast Texas Sox will field an 11 player MAXIMUM High School Summer Team for this season.   It will be a 16U team that is welcoming younger players (8th graders, Freshman, and incoming Sophomores) who are looking for the challenge of playing against Houston's best, while consistently being the youngest team in the tournament.   The primary objective of this team is to begin the development of a Recruiting Showcase team to represent Southeast Texas Baseball Players in the upcoming years.  This is the start-up season where we enter among the already well-respected Baseball Organizations of Houston, TX.   There will be 10 tournaments played in Baytown, TX in the duration of 4 months.  All tournaments are 4 game min. and will be played under Texas Amateur Baseball.   Regular competition against: Houston Heat, Houston Banditos, Houston Miracles, Line Drive Baseball, and many other highly notable Houston-Area Premier Baseball Organizations.   The course of training will cover a broad spectrum of instruction the Sox feel is vital (Baseball Theory, Strategy, Ethics, Personal Throwing Strength and Development, Personal Workout and Dietary Health for Physical Development, Personalized Hitting, along with much more) to the development of the High School Athlete who has aspirations of earning Collegiate Scholarships, or even being Drafted.  We are here to develop the complete Baseball Player, and should a Player show strong proficiency in certain aspects of the Game - we will hone to maximize the development of that specific skill.   We are not here to make money - we are here to grow Southeast Texas Baseball and to have the future of our area possess all the knowledge and skills necessary to make it further than we did in Baseball.   I have had the fortune of playing under great leaders and coaches who are helping me sustain, what I believe, to be the best approach to "Select Baseball" and to get the most out of this industry for the Players.  Make no mistake about it - I have always remained a Student of the Game, and there is much I owe to the Game.  This is one aspect in which I am "giving back to the Game."   If this is something that interests you, and you would like to make a 4 month investment on an aggressive development program - this is the Team to join.   $375/month for 4 months - nothing more, nothing less - covers EVERYTHING the Player will need.   Contact me - BJ Myers - at 409.720.8951 for more information.  - or email - [email protected]   TRY OUTS   APRIL 12 - 1PM AND 330 PM @ GROVES MIDDLE SCHOOL *OPEN LOT - Take Hogaboom to Wilson - Wilson to Taylor   APRIL 17 - 2PM @ DORNBOS PARK - Nederland, TX *off Avenue H   First tournament will happen in May - the season is among us and the time to jump in the big market is NOW.   By being a Member of the Sox, you will be expected to compete against the toughest competition we can find - it will NEVER be easy (it is not meant to).  This is NOT for everyone...but for the 1% it is for - it will be one hell of a time.   We are growing and developing as Next Level Baseball Players by going out and facing the Best.  You get out what you put in - and the Southeast Texas Sox is more than a 'Baseball Organization' - it is a 'Baseball Experience'
  23. Are you on a "select" Team that seems to be operated with motivation towards...money?   Are you on a "select" Team that is showing uncomfortable favoritism to certain players based on reasons that have nothing to do with Baseball?   Are you apart of an organization that never rotates their: batting order, defensive positioning, pitching rotation, etc... to give player's more experience in more aspects of the Game?   Are you paying more than $150 a month to have your child on a "select" Team only to play local and against the same Teams every tournament - and in some cases, playing DOWN?   ...the real questions you have to ask yourself are...   Do you want your child to be apart of a Team that will push/challenge their skills - along with playing against the toughest competition we can find? Do you want your child to learn skills that teach: Overcoming Failure, Identifying Situations and Solutions, Reading and Exploiting Baseball Opponents, Creating a Personal Style of Play that allows you to express yourself through the Game, and many more "intangible" aspects to competition....?   *Yes, we challenge and train the MIND*   Monetary responsibilities...simple...$150/Month.  No 'nickle and diming' during the month to cover costs that were never made transparent.   Sox Baseball is not a "money making" operation - it is simply a Baseball Operation.  We don't say were 100% Baseball...we Act 100% Baseball.   Remaining Schedule   March 21 - Twin City Shootout - Shreveport, LA, Super NIT (already 25 teams from 4 different states entered to play) *12U Maj April 5 - Golden Triangle Games - Beaumont, TX *12U Open April 26 - *Pending Player Vote* Global NIT - Big League Dreams or Clash of the Titans - Cy Fair, TX *12U Premier May 10 - Marauder Classic *13U Tournament *13U Elite May 23 - The Texas Invitational - Baseball USA *We have a spot, not waitlisted *12U Premier June 7 - Governor's Games - Lake Charles, LA *12U Maj June 28 - State Championship - Beaumont, TX *12U Open World Series - July - *Pending Parent Vote* - San Diego, CA or Park City, UT   If you are reading this and find that this information appeals to you...give me [BJ Myers] a call at (409)720.8951 so we can chat.   *I am not responding to anything on this forum - If you want to talk to me...CALL me*   *Rosters are about to freeze, so ask yourself what journey do you want to be apart of for the remainder of the season...?   Who are we looking for? A Baseball Player that isn't afraid to be challenged   On this Team, you will play 3 Positions regularly (3 is the minimum, overall Goal is offering exposure/experience to every player at every position.  We do not limit the amount of Baseball our Players should learn)   "We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it."
