blah blah blah...they went to a run game because they couldn't pass....as stated, with kids, once the two returns had them set deep in LM territory, THEY GAVE UP, plain and simple. besides the "two  td's" how many passes were down field and completed??? LM got bashed before the game saying that's all they know how to throw like it was a bad thing...low and behold, mustanks COULD NOT THROW DOWN FIELD and settled for screens...too bad WOS eats it big next week lol.

Will someone correct me or inform me please . Is newton east texas or south east texas ? I see newton on etsn.fm and smoaky.com both east texas sites . Now i have never seen in any football previews where golden triangle teams are mentioned on those sites . Just curious cause when i was coming up newton really wasnt mentioned in our area unless they were playing a team from the area which was normally hf , ec , hj and of . I guess why i am asking because we talk about state titles in this area and im starting with the 70's i counted 6 titles and the last was in 1987 by WOS . I didnt count newtons 1974 ,1998 and 2005 titles .

i know right, but these people would take a LOUISIANA  team and add them, if one of their precious SETX played against them. if you happen to be in the district, you get grouped smh. newton is NOT SETX as in Jasper is east texas as well.

Not sure how you believe that LM shut down the passing game, not so it was perfection, and we have a reserve of RB that took it to LM. 

in the first half, how many completions was there??? not talking about the two completions to LM defense lol...that would be a very big 0!!  second half, WOS had to go to screens, which is a form of a pass. with the exception of the one thrown TD, NOTHING WAS down the field burners, like you and others had predicted. as i said, i think LG will play and have a MUCH better pass defense than LM.

WOS defense was the difference in this game.

i agree in the second half. also the special teams set up very short fields on three different occasions. the blocked punt and the two long returns. that's 21 EASY points right there. the other two drives they actually had a real drive.

we are down to the last five with one week to go before the deadline...STILL like my chances.

 

first off, being serious, WOS played EXCELLENT defense in the second half. Special teams play was the difference in this game HANDS DOWN!! i hope #13 is going to be okay. i mean that due to the idiot badndn thinking i wanted a kid to get hurt.  i still think they bow out 4th rd and that's not me talking smack. i don't think LM defense is nowhere near as good as LG. LM was able to shut WOS down in the first half. that kickoff return and punt return by wos was the back breaker and momentum changer. in the second half, i counted TWO drives wos had in which they actually gone the length of the field. by that time, LM was defeated and had given up. 

 

LM-coach jackson had totally gone away from what got them there. LM did not do any zone reads in the year and also did not pass that much. now all of a sudden you want to try stuff that you never done??He kept #24-jones, the fastest and best back out of the three, on the sideline for whatever reason and tried to put him in on 3rd and forever, in which he did what he does,5-6 yards. he should have been in the game more and hardly any jet sweeps were done. maybe 3-5 and all was successful. those plays got LM that far. can't say wos was stopping them on those plays due to the 5 yards or more when they were done. in the second half, there was no adjustments made to the wos blitz. NONE!!! overall,poorly coached game. i do think LM would have possibly still loss the game, but MUCH closer. 7 points or less if coaching would have been up to snuff.

 

okay, NOW for the crap talk...despite the loss, i thought LM did an EXCELLENT JOB SHUTTING DOWN THE PASS OF WOS which most of you said would kill LM. seen alot of screens thrown after the qb got picked twice and balls tipped in the second half. i see the HJ chicken hawks were cheering like THEIR team had won smh...swingers lol. LG rb is gonna mow WOS down. You can't pull all three star backs out and expect success. The best back is not even in the game most of the time and you are not feeding him. Also stop running plays that have not been run all year. Minus that short field, it could be 0-0

Giddings is not la marque... lol They are two contrasting defenses and BIG does not always = skilled. Thats the hardest thing is to compare these two teams because they havent played many common opponents or seen eachother in some time.... It makes this one interesting. Whether we win or lose, I was looking forward to this matchup. We can all give factual "fluff" to make our teams look better than the other. But because of not really being able to compare these teams with statistical data.... there is always that unknown factor of how it will really play out.... To give an honest opinion... I think because these teams dont know eachother well, La marque's speed and blocking will catch WOS off guard initially and WOS's athleticism and passing game will test our defense constantly all night... 

 

That being said, Im going to make an early prediction on this one ... LM 24 WO 21

LETS GO 25-21. LM will not kick a FG lol...i see us missing one or two xp's.

I'd say that any team that makes it into the 3rd round, are good teams. shouldn't be called upsets. I;d say that a good team got beaten by a better team. No upsets now.................. ;)

i see what mouse is saying and numbers dont lie . PNG 1975 ,HEBERT 1976, , WESTBROOK 1982 , FRENCH 1984 ,and WOS 1986-1987. That is 2 titles in the 70's , 4 more in the 80's and so far in the 2000's no state titles . Now mind you im talking golden triangle which when i was coming up that is all i paid attention to because it had some of the baddest players and teams in the state. I live in northern va now and when i first got here and people would find out i was from texas they would ask me did i play high school football there ? Whats it like ? Why is it so big there ? Etc etc . That is why i dont get to caught up in setx , west texas , east texas and the likes because its all texas . But it is a difference seems like to me when the rounds start getting to 4 and beyond. Recently people have asked about west texas football and east texas football because they heard thats who has the best programs and some of these guys lived in those areas briefly and caught a glimpse of it . It is facts to what is being said , i just got on this site back in 2012 and started following football again , i was always kept informed about football by my friend who comes back home all the time and was shocked no one from the area had won state in years , but its great talent coming out the area as usual . Even my man said coaching isnt what it use to be and some of these schools need to step up and get with the times . When you see Katy , allen , carthrage, argyle , yoe , refugio, you just see some different ball played . I know the golden triangle can match them player for player we always had studs come out of that area . I dont have a dog in the fight , but it would be cool to see a team from the area be at jerry's world world more often , but its gonna be tough . Good luck to the young men playing take it all in leave it all out there on the field and have no regrets and have fun , because for a lot of yall it will be the last time you put on them pads . UMMM SO LOL....that's giddings, not LM. what's great about this game someone touched on earlier. both have storied programs and are impressive regardless of schedules. IMO, LM still have the upper and more recent resume and have to be respected due to it. WOS have a more balanced offensive attack with athletes just like LM. i wish they stop acting like nobody can run with them (wos)....THAT'S WHY WOS WILL NEVER RETURN TO DALLAS!!! IF the team thinks like it's fan base, then they are in a world of trouble. doesn't matter if it's LM or LG. learned that lesson from steele vs PAM. PAM had TONS of speed. CS was more fundamental and used our speed against us. keep over looking LM thinking NOBODY  can match your speed...seems to be the story of WOS life...GETTING OUT CLASSED WHEN GETTING OUTSIDE THE CUPCAKE LAND of SETX aka golden triangle.

like i said. it won't be a blow out on either side of the ball. i think LM chews up PLENTY OF clock. they won't get the yardage in huge chunks. alot of 3rd and 2,1, and inches.  i expect BOTH teams to score with very few punts.

Good that you know about our history. The difference between the 85- 86 team is the offense. We ran the Option, the guys told me here on this site, that we run a different offense now. This team is solid in their running game and, receiving play. We have many Wide Receivers who can burn your secondary on any play. (This is a fact), and our running game is really good. Offense Lineman are the best that I have seen in a very long time. I have looked at some of your video from the Texas City game, and noticed that you have big defensive players. If they cannot keep up their stamina, throughout the game, it will be a long day for your cougars. The Mustangs will turn it on. IMO.  

lady it is not a FACT WOS wr's will burn LM secondary. it's an opinion. they never played each other, so you do not  know this,....for a FACT. like turner said. you looking at game 2 of the season and think LM is the same??
