  1. Let's forget about Tramain's talent and the outstanding supporting cast. One thing at which Valastro has been masterful, in my opinion, is keeping these guys focused and humble -- almost to the point of subdued. In fact, when you see the Bucs come out calm and quiet, it's a little worrisome. Then they just seem to take care of business when the game begins.

So, stay focused, Bucs! Good luck!

Oh yeah, "Lumberton, Dayton". (I just didn't want this to be the only thread in the forum this week that didn't mention them both.)

  2. We have Chester beating HI Friday night but according to the HI isd page the Cardinals won 18-0. Does anybody know for sure who won Friday?

    http://www.esc05.k12.tx.us/hiisd/

I know it doesn't say this on the website, but the 18-0 HI victory reported is for HI's Junior High team. If you read the paragraph and then scroll down the page where it talks about a different junior high game, you'll see that the players mentioned in both "articles" are the same. I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

  3. Just as an informational point, when I was interviewing the HI super for an article, he mentioned that he thought HI was the smallest, if not one of the smallest, schools to play 11-man football. Unstated but understood, was the fact that they were proud to be able to put that team together. It's a small but great little town and they love their Cardinals!! Go Cards!!

  4. Ok guys, i know that Lucky has been around and has been an influence on many, but that does not qualify one as a GOOD GUY.  Pleading guilty to choking your wife in a bath-tub tends dis-qualify this.  I suggest that while it is ok to pray and be concerned for the guy -- we should also be equally concerned for those who lie in his destructive path-way.

Besides--it appears the Texas prison system is soon to inherit lots of football talent--so why not let him coach there?

"...let him coach there..." Now, THAT'S funny! My reference to the time out was a reference to prison. I might should have been a little more clear about that.

  5. Alright, gentlemen (mostly). Let's use our heads. He's plead guilty before in a domestic violence case. So, he has a history. Then he's arrested TWICE -- TWICE??? -- in one weekend.

It's irrelevant who he is, what his coaching accomplishments/tenures are or have been, or how 'nice a guy' he is. He needs some help. You know, my 9 and 5 yr old have become very familiar with "time out" lately because they keep misbehaving in the same manner. Maybe Lucky needs a little time out, himself.

  6. Bein' a girl an' all, I guess I don't get all the smack talk. Seems a little over the top to me. Ok, Hardin will win. We all get it. Save it for next week when the team hasn't faced such recent hardship.

Worked a little with some of the HI players shooting pictures and doing an article. They are an awesome group of kids — smart, funny and very polite. I was impressed. Hate to see them suffer. I do agree that, regardless of the score, their community will be glad to think about something other than Humberto. Go Cards!

  7. That does it! I'm going back to brunette!! The grey matter is rinsing out with the color, evidently. I really did get the reference to the previous post. I just didn't hear the sarcasm from my speakers. Will have those checked out, too, I suppose.

ECBF, you're quite the wordsmith. ;)

  8. EC is DOOMED.

ECBucFan, what are you smoking? One post it was the best game of last season and your next post says we're DOOMED? You're usually F&B (fair and balanced). But, giving in BEFORE the game? Not like you. Please clarify.

  9. Here's my brief report from

This is the hidden content, please
(Pics in this week's print edition.)

Senior Tramain Thomas and Junior Donté Raymond led the Bucs’ offensive charge against the Shepherd Pirates last Friday, and the Buccaneer defense held the Pirates to 100 yards rushing and only one completed pass. The final was a 35-0 victory for the Bucs.

Offensively, Thomas rushed for 89 yards on 9 carries and Raymond for 118 yards on 13 carries. Other offensive highlights came from senior Vance McDonald who had 63 yards receiving and Kendall Barrow who had 30 yards receiving. Sophomore Colton Dryden kicked a field goal for EC’s only score during the third quarter. Late in the game, junior quarterback Trey Lambert completed one of two passes for 16 yards and sophomore Josh Adamson threw one for 13 yards.

Shepherd’s 100 rushing yards came from Chaz Caddie and they had 16 yards passing from Jordan Wood.
