  1. 1) Nederland

The dogs will be returning 10 players  from last year but will they have enough arms is the big question?

    2) Goose Creek Memorial

Don't know enough except they went deep in the playoffs.

    3) Port Neches-Groves

Pitching can keep them alive but will they produce enough offense?

    4) Vidor

I think they will keep things interesting in the district.

  2. I just want to give some recognition to some local high school baseball players who are working hard this summer playing some showcase baseball as the SETX PROSPECTS 18U. This team has played in 2 wood bat tournaments at ULL in Lafayette and ULM in Monroe,Louisiana. The Prospects are playing this weekend in Lafayette again and come July in Houston at Rice,U of H, and San Jac and finish up at Texas A & M University. They have competed against some very good teams and hold a record of 3 wins/5 losses. I would like to note that almost ALL of these young men are also playing Mid County Babe Ruth games.

  3. If I remember correctly...there are 8 District 20-4A teams and this would require 9 starters to play the game?

Now if my math is right...that would be AT LEAST 72 total young men starting/playing this great game of baseball but not including those who ride the pine as pinch runners, hitters, ready to play when givien the chance!

1st team 24 players picked and 2nd team 20 players picked...this is half of the district starters...so who cares if they are getting a little recognition.

Congrats to all these fine young men...GO DOGS!!

  4. Nederland's varsity is thin with players and only has 1 freshman who is a starter. He is good enough to be on the varsity team but there is only 12 players on this team. I am not trying to take anything away from this young man but I would bet if Ned had more depth at pitching with more senior players on this roster then he would more than likey not be a starter but rather riding the pine or playing JV.

Just remember that there were some good senior players who have given baseball up berfore or during their senior year for whatever reason.

Now with that being said the dogs are young and are starting to play together as a team with a goal in mind this second half!

    GO DOGS!!
