1. Watercraft on College in Bmt.  Ask for Danny!
2. PPG are the single most viewed statistic on the charts but many contributions that a player makes does not make the books. Unfortunately, the average fan and voters sometimes doesn't comprehend who is contributing to the team's success.  My point is, in the eyes of the beholder, players may only seem to be average but to their coach their service's are greatly appreciated. Also, for the sake of the TEAM, the athlete's role may have to vary throughout their career.  Now this can take place without selfishness or feelings can get hurt and things can go bump in the night.  Now speaking from experience the bumping is usually is the dissatisfied parent which often transcends to the kid. The day I let my son's path take it course minus me at the wheel (wished I would have done it earlier) was the best day of my life. I realized this when I saw two different soilders standing side by side, one was a private in grungy army fatigue the other in a dress uniform showered with medals.  No difference between the two because they were both fighting for the same cause. Sacrifice, builds character and those who rise above adversity and lack of aknowlegement will be better in the long run. When a horse is being prepared for a race one of the first things that are applied will be the blinders.  Making the animal tunnel visioned helps eliminate distractions which in return helps the horse FINiSH THE RACE! I assure you that there is a many player that did not recieve accolades that a coach would tell you he is the MVP of the team.  Yea it hurts but the sacrifice that they are making is the greatest reward that they can achieve.  By the way, before critics of the forum boards evaluate my post I did this without glasses and spellcheck, so forgive me for the mistakes. Keep up the GOOD FIGHT in the end your hands will be raised victoriously.  :)
3.
I just do not understand how some of you who post on this site try to sound so knowledgeable and don't really have a clue....its like me posting in the dang soccer forum..I don't know soccer, have never played soccer, yet if I went on there and talked about a soccer team's coach that just lost in the state title game on a last se cond goal, as if I know what the heck is going on....I would sound pretty dumb to a guy that REALLY knows soccer. Same concept.... Here are some things that you may want to consider: 1) This Yates team was very good, finishing with a 33-6 record as state finalist, but although they were far better than most in Texas, they were not as good as the previous teams that dominated in 09 and 10....not even close...No TRUE PG, for starters, and I could go on, but I want to keep this simple. 2) Every coach in TEXAS would send tapes on and try to strategize on how to beat Yates...ALL SEASON LONG..Do you guys really think that Coach Wise did not see every gimmick, trick defense, offensive game plan in the WORLD throughout these playoffs? Yet was a possession away from winning state again? 3) Their Sr. Leader, went 1-16 last night, and 0-7 from three....yet it took a prayer to best them on a last second shot in the end...1-16!  This had not happened all year long...They missed FIVE front end one and ones down the stretch, which allowed Kimball to get back in the game.... wrong time for that, but how is that Coach Wise's fault? It's basketball, sometimes that just happens. 4) Ever lose a parent the day before a title game? Well Yates had to deal with THAT obstacle as well...the sophomore guard #1, lost his grandmother (who was raising him) on Friday while in Austin....Not making excuses, just stating facts here.. 5) Did one of you guys say DISCIPLINE was an issue? I'd you did, I want to ask you one question...If you have seen Yates play, have you EVER seen those kids, talk back to a ref, talk smack to an opposing player, chest pump, throat slash, or ANY of those things that you often see undisciplined kids and teams do? I will answer for you. NOT EVER. Yates has possibly the MOST disciplined kids around.. Maybe this will help some of understand better, then again maybe it won't...I was just as shocked at the ending last night as most, but I do know that in these winner take all championship situations, things can and will happen....to blame the coach that has been there many times and understands also, is just not smart...Kimball was the defending state champion...they were a very good team...it took a wing and a prayer for them to beat Yates, and they got them both last night....Congrats to them and thanks to both teams for one of the best 4A finishes EVER.
My reference to discipline had nothing to do with how the kids acted during a game but everything to do with shot selection.  Although, I was not there I heard that many bad shots were taken throughout the game.  I personally believe that kids from time to time have to be reeled in and that is the coaches job.  Go watch a AAU game and then take those same athletes in a controlled situation, one of the biggest changes would be their shot selection.  I know that coaches have their styles but sometimes in order to control the game or try to catch up one may have to change tatics.  Although, many coaches receive blame when circumstances do not warrant so, realistically, that is the nature of the beast.  After pondering my comment,  I probably shouldn't have commented when I didnt see the game first hand. Also I am extremely happy to know that Yate's players display integrity on the floor.
4. Discipline, usually will discriminate against mistakes. That is usually the number one priority that a coach will demand in their system.  Great example, the 2011-2012 Lamar Basketball Cardinals.  Same atheletes, a different coach and a positive outcome.  Coach's are only as good as their athlete's abilities but the athletes are only as good as the coach's mentality.
5. Bosha has been in my home numerous and I taught him in Elementary for 5 yrs.  Without a doubt, one of the best kids I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. Unfortunately, my son is a senior and I will truly miss our visitation times before home games.  I can assure you J. Bosha will be always welcomed in my home. I have learned from 25 years in the education business the old saying " the apple never falls far from the tree" is so true.  I have a teenage boy who has participated in sports since he could walk and by no means was he perfect.  I will add that if I ever saw him pubically humilating an opponent that action would be address harshly when he got home. Kids will kids but lets hope that their good behavior is being reinforced and the bad with negative consequences.  I have watch Coach Todd rip and put my son on the bench for doing stupid things and I would never except any less.  Nash you are right there is a life after sports and the norm of society is not very tolerant of non compliant people.
6.
Didn't Joe play for Beaumont little dribblers?  ;) [/quote Not a 100% certain but I think he play in Beaumont until his 5th grade yr. and played 6,7 & 8th in Twin County.
7. Great job 32 handling the ball in pressure situations, grinding on the boards, playing solid defense in foul trouble, being a leader on the floor and even chipped in a few points.  Your efforts are often lost in the numbers but I assure you the people that matter the most appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good fight, finish the race and be humble in the process.
8. Ed Dyer is a quality coach.  I knew it was a matter of time for him, honestly, I thought he would be a head coach somewhere by now.  Gratz Ed - well deserved!
9. I think if Coldspring uses the opposite game plan Brookshire used they may have an ever so slight chance of victory. The old breaking the press with the dribble and jacking up three's want get ur done, especially, when the shooting % is in the dirt. What good is height when it is not utilized.  The bombs were being fired up before Brookshire's big men could get back down to have a chance to rebound. I never saw a single pass thrown to the block.  If it did happen I must have been standing in the ever so short concession stand line. Oh yea, if Coldspring presses they may want to make sure once their front court gets beat they need to hump it back to help with penetration. If not the lone defender will find himself guarding the basket alone and vulnerable. Don't know a thing about Coldspring but they better grab their jocks and pull up their socks because they will be frenzied the entire game.  The Tigers remind me of the late 80's early 90's Lincoln Bumblebees.  I assure all of you young guys the Beehive was a very intimidating place.

Bounced the ball right beside a kids head while he was lying on the floor, elbowed a Kid n the mouth way behind the ball in the back court. And then HJ got to shoot FTs for a flagrant and they tried to switch shooters knowing that wasn't the kid who got fouled.
Evidently you were not watching Sealy then.  Cheap shot after cheap shot.
Come on  Thats like saying your THUG was worse that our THUG
I can't fathom how a person can call a kid a "Thug" without even knowing the person.  My only response is WOW!  And folks get there post removed for Hi Jacking a thread.  That type disrespect is oh well I leave my thoughts blank hoping I misread the contexted of the statement.
11. Will they clear the gym after the first game.  I know 1237 HJ fans that said they were going to keep their seat for the second game.  Nash said he was buying the hotdogs between games.
12. [Hidden Content] It is a verbal. Article is an interesting read, he certainly is multi faceted.
13. 2 yrs in row HJ has had defended an Texas signee.
14.

Brookshire Royal maybe better than HJ
They may but they may not be.  check comparative scores vs Nederland
and Stafford
15. I wondering if Sealy fan base is talking it up on their local pub forum about a kid named Shawn Prudhomme.  If not they should be and if they don't know about him they soon will. The difference is Shawn knows he doesn't have to score 40 in order for his team to have a chance to win.
16. Tough second round matches for all area teams.  It will be a challenge for the Tigers but their quickness, aggressiveness, confidence, and most importantly pressure "D" will wear down Royal.  Tigers will take this one.
17. It's not about completely stopping him but making him work for all his shots. I do know if he likes to get physical on the block 32 will have no problem with that. Hopefully, after several quarters the fatigue factor will set in and effect his 4qtr play.  Its all about the how refs let the post play on the block.  It will be a monster challenge but it is not about how many points one player puts up but the score at the end of the game. HJ has 3 guys that score and one of those can match Seals ppg.  Good luck to all area teams!!! Safe travel to the athletes, coaches and fans.
18. I know topics get hi jacked all the time but it sounded as if someone was trying to bogart the Hawk Nation Regular Broadcast Team from their duties.. Glad my boys are getting the call, can't wait to listen in, keep up the good work.
19. Will the change effect the broadcasting of the remaining games.  Any particular reason why the LCM/Coldspring game failed to take place?
20. I wonder which future opponent Coach Southerland is trying to duplicate with Stafford.  I like the choice because it will be played in a great venue, 30 minutes away and a great cup of gumbo right down the road. Yahhooo!  I guess coming in third place behind Royal and Sealy is not to shabby.  Be prepared Hawks it was a war last year, blood, broken bones and OT. I am sure they will be coming into AL T's town with chip or boulder riding on their shoulder.
21. How about Leadership Qualities and Work Ethic? I have seen talent become a cancer and tear a team apart.
Should know tomorrow.  Tough when everyone you ask says no!!! ;) ;)
I hear ya Just need to ask the right ones. ;)
There is the smile before you get punched tactic.  Maybe HJ doesn't want to travel 3 hours for warm up game.  May not be that important.
Yes right into a Brookshire Royal team that has two '6"6 post players and swept Jones' Sealy team in district by scores of 101-81 and 86-70. ;) ::) The concession had more to do with Silsbee wanting to lineup a particular warm up opponent and prepare them for some match up problems than the route thru the brackets.
Sounds complicated to me, knowing your next opponent is not an exact science. Why is the warm up game so important when that particular team may only duplicate one of your potential opponents. I know that game film is not usually available  but a good scouting report goes a long way.  Sometimes folks try to fly to the moon when they only need to go around the block. I am not refering to what Coach Sigler has decided to do with his team but the explanation of it. I think the idea of Silsbee getting to travel to nice facility and play an admiral opponent is a good enough reason, without, the word duplicate being used, the kids earned it. I hope they win, bond, eat good, have no injuries, make some memories and most importantly get back home safely.  One warm up game is not going to make a fraction of a difference on the Tigers road to Austin.  My opinion, I think a 30 plus game season prepares teams for this time of the year.
