1. The variable in this game could be non football related.  I hear the flu bug has engulfed both programs with a vengeance.
2. Just watched film Silsbee vs Buna. I was watching with my son scouting Buna and we quickly turned our attention to Silsbee's Defense. One word "Impressive".
3. I have either played or coach against the Chain Gang since 1980. The 2012 defense are like a swarm of bees in a daisy field. They attack the ball from every angle and they waste no time getting there.  At first glance, I am sure many adversaries think they can move the ball against their smaller foe but by halftime you realize your best offensive play is a punt.  IMO the 2012 bunch is one of WO-S finest defenses. Smothering is an understatement.
4. This is not the first time for Sanders to been involved in eligibility issues with young athletes. I guess in his mind he is doing them a favor and in retrospect he is hurting more than helping.
5.

No, my name is Barry Edelmon and I actually ran the youth league out here for about 5 years. Dont know Kville Kats... The film shows the kids free arm kind of whip around and the Bmt Enterprise pic to me looks like he landed on it. Doesnt matter either way and wish it would not have happened. My point was the hit was hard, and it was not a fluke hit. Our boys are different this year. Bigger, stronger and all of the "me" and "I" kids are gone. The attitudes are better, and we are excited about football in Sour Lake right now. I was basically being a smartazz when someone tried to correct me on something that wasnt even my point. Like I said earlier, I stand corrected... Moving on...
Interesting.... I don't recall any issues over there last year, other than going 1-9. Just how many of those "me" and "I" kids were there?
Having no dog in the hunt nor do you reside in the district it seems far fetched you would know the intricacies of our program. Let me reassure you there were distractions last year and I will leave it at that.
6. Bad Santa, I am so glad you are taken such a vested interest in the HJ football program. Just think, if the administration would have acted upon your wishes all these kids would be selling candy for student council instead of battling on Friday night.  I can't predict or promise a playoff berth this year but one thing is for sure, the future looks bright for the Hawks. Here is a bone for you to chew on: 7 offensive starters return next year with 3 of those being sophomores.  Defensively, 6 starters return with 5 of those being sophomores.  Also 4 other sophomores are getting playing time on Friday night.  Now I know all of this does not guarantee a thing but experience is always a good thing.
7.
I say..........YES!
Is this same person that has profoundly proclaimed multiple times that HJ should cancel their football program. Irony, I do declare.
8. Dove or DV my question never got answered just a rhetorical joke was made..  Does Wise win consistantly and a District Champ. at HF, OF or I'll even throw WO-S in the mix?  Those 3 teams seem to be on the bubble each yr for the 3rd spot in the 21-3a.
9. Roger's Park or College St. Athletic Complex.
10. Don't think that was a legitimate answer to a legitimate ?
11. Never once echoed a negative word against Yates basketball program. My complaint is directed towards the foaming at the mouth of their greatness. Also how they will end all chances for any other 3a program to a chance to win state.  Any team that experiences success will have endure their fair share of critics.  On the other hand, their success speaks for it self and does not need to continually flaunted.
12. Dove, if Wise took the Fannet or OF job would they compete for the district title on a regular basis?
13. I wonder if Vitale and Dove have a multitude of Yates basketball pics glued to the walls of their bedrooms.  Seems to me there is some stalking tendencies going on here. I thought society gave up polytheism years ago. It is sickening to hear the continued onslaught of Yate's greatness.  So what if a local team gets beat down in the regionals or deep in the playoffs by Sir Yates, at least they can say they made it to that level.  Getting beat 50 or 1 point it all spells defeat the same way.
14. I know for a fact the Coach Woodard encourages his recruits to participate if they were invited.  In fact, several athletes who have full rides  will be participating in the game.
15.   Numbers (percentages) don't lie, look them up them for yourself and then answer your own question.
16. * 2010-11 Academically Unaceptable Rating * 2010 HS TAKS Math Scores 31% * 1 0f 10 Senior's met College entrance exam standards * enrollment has dropped 10% in last 2 years. * Crime percentages in the area surrounding the school is at an all time high I Googled a certain schools name / College Readiness: out of the top 5 listings 3 were sports related, 1  dealing w/crime and 1 educational.  HJISD had open enrollment last year and we received approximately 60 transfers and get 1 starter in BB. Those numbers do not substantiate an active recruiting process. Dickie, you said one thing with merit throughout this conversation, if your program is worthy people will come.  I assure you we do not rely on our Basketball program to boost our ADA.  It would be safe to say that HJISD has more to offer than a potential State Basketball Championship.  Comparing Yates basketball program to HJ's is not apples to apple, not even close.
17.
What I would like to see from the conversation /topic is an awareness and opportunity for future seniors to know what it takes to reach their dreams to become student-athletes beyond their high school playing days. It might take a player making a list of their top ten (realistic) college choices and knowing where to turn to for advice in order to get that opportunity.
Great post and I have some pertinent information concerning this matter. First and foremost potential collegiate athletes must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse: [Hidden Content] Student/athletes need to understand that academics are as important as their athletic abilities.  Most if not all colleges use a Sliding Scale for admission purposes.  This involves your SAT/ACT scores combined with your overall GPA. It is very important to keep your GPA up because it will either be helpful or a hindrance towards your admittance. Also your High School TEKS results can effect the type of classes you have to take your freshman year.  By the way, there is several SAT/ACT prep courses available, they can be extremely beneficial. For the most part colleges are relying on Summer Camps and Combines to help with their recruiting process. Because of the cost of these camps it is extremely important to choose the appropriate camp which is relevant to your abilities.  Get your coach involved on this matter.  Camps are not absolute, therefore, gather some game film and send them to various colleges.  I would advise against Highlight Films because most coaches want to see an entire game not bits and pieces of your best moments. Useful Resources in no particular order: 1. Athletic Director 2. Head Coach of your desired sport 3. Parent or Guardians 4. School Counselor 5. Mentors Don't give up on your dreams if your desires do not go according to plan.  Any opportunity is better than none.  The most important thing to remember if you are getting a chance to further your education, expense free, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.  Let me reassure everyone, trying to get an athlete eligible to play at the next level is no easy task for all involved.  Most importantly, it is the kid that holds all the cards and ultimately they control their own destiny.
18. Although, my statement is totally an insinuation, it can be assumed that with Nash having inside information, as pointed out by many, his guarantee was justified. I was told by many close to the subject that a D1 was coming but things suddenly changed.  "Things happen for a reason and you have to make the best of it and I am quite sure Shawn will be a nice fit in Waco".  As in most cases there is more to this story than meets the publics eye and I am sure Nash will keep this information to himself. My beef was in the past a certain person has made several derogatory comment towards HJISD athletic program without recourse or remorse.  Also that same person on numerous occasions has instructed folks to stay on subject on past threads. A solid administrator in any business should lead by good example not by their on set of rules. Yes, I know not everyone is perfect but letting folks know your efforts are humble goes a long way. Just because a Policeman has the authority to uphold the laws it doesn't give him the right to take something out of your garage.  If rules or bylaws are established EVERYONE should be expected to follow them.  I know this is an 18 or above site but the HS athletes do read this material and I am sure many of them have been offended by the context.  Remember the Golden Rule" do unto others as you would have done to yourself"!
19.
I wonder if Stevenash is still giving 3-1 odds on Prudhomme getting a DI scholarship? I know that he could still "wind up" at a DI, but it will have to be after 1-2 years at a JUCO. I guess we need Steve to clarify if he meant that his bet was for Shawn to get the DI scholly out of high school and not juco.
In my opinion, this particular post is totally inappropriate for this particular thread. If I am not mistaken this topic is to discuss Shawn's ACCOMPLISHMENT not odds on bet on a completely different post .  Although, I completely understand your intent was to throw pie in Nash's face this post could be easily misconstrued as belittlement of his JUCO signing. The ole smile :) before the punch  :-[ tactic is still functioning at a high level. Back to the topic-congratulations "Shawn" on all of your achievements.
20. Cancel the program and play basketball only.  The Hawk football program is pitiful. Quotes from the past from Bad Santa. Maybe it goes without saying folks aren't responding to your inquires because they are mal and deceptive.
