  1. If all goes well, Texas will face Memphis in the elite 8.....but that will be a bad matchup for the Horns as Memphis while not a great shooting team, beats opponents with second and third chance shots because of their athleticism outjumping teams for rebounds...Texas is not at all a good rebounding team and I beleive that's where this season ends.....hopefully not, but hey...I'm a realist.

  2. In '02 when we (HF) lost to Kountze in the State Quarterfinals, really ripped my heart out!  We were in no way better than Kountze, Trey Peters got hot early on and before I knew it we were down 13 at the break.  Two weeks earlier we had them on the ropes at the Hamshire Dome leading the whole game only to lose by 6! Keithan could pull it from anywhere! Sutherland was prepared for the box and 1 and triangle and 2 that gave them so much trouble in our second game with them....He's a helluva coach! As well as Keener......Packed house in Ozen, the atmosphere was electric but Ashton Hall was too much! It was my junior year and it hurt so bad because I knew Keener was leaving and we were losing so many seniors like Jacoby Malone and Cody Elliot, all that was returning was me and Cedric Larnette and that district was too tough to get back with just us two and a first year coach. HF basketball hasn't been the same since.  I think we won 11 games the next year and I don't think Hamshires won 11 combined in the five years since 03......

  3. Another sloppy start for the Horns, shooting under 20% for the majority of the first half.....

Abrams really stepped up last night finishing with I think 21 points, Gary Johnson's outing was acceptable, way better than his previous outings.  He was playing pretty solid defense on Blake Griffin; Griffin is just a better player!  Oklahoma lacks talent at the guard positions and that seemed to really hurt them in the second half.

All in all it was a solid win for the Horns, but they still need to improve in the paint if they want a realistic shot at a Final Four.

  4. Michael Beasley is hands down the best player in college basketball this year....his numbers are right with Durants from a year ago and some are actually better.

Besides the terrible game against Texas A&M, DJ Augustin could be mentioned in this discussion as well, he is easily on a different level when it comes to point guards in the NCAA and it starts with his quickness and ability to get to the paint.

Another guy who you would like to give some thought to is Indiana center, D.J. White...this guy is putting up big time numbers and the fact that Eric Gordon is on the same court as him really gives him more opportunities to hurt other ball clubs with his ability to rebound and score.

On the OJ Mayo subject, yes I do believe he is a bit overrated but he is still a very talented guard.  What I really want to talk about is underrated players, and it starts with Kansas guard Mario Chalmers.  Brandon Rush takes the spot light in Bill Self's offense while Chalmers continues to fly under the radar.  This kid is a stone cold beast....he can shoot it, he plays excellent defense and if your caught sleepin', he will not hesitate to dunk on you.  I believe Chalmers is one of the best players in the nation, but just doesn't get the credit because when most people think Kansas...they thin Rush.

    Just some thoughts.............. ;D

  5. What has happen to Tramain, he dont score 26 pts anymore

It's kind of hard to score 26 when you're getting double teamed all night like the Anahuac game.....Kountze didn't really put the double team on him, it was more of a 3/4 court press and a half court press that made TT give up the ball, but at the end of the night Thomas put a 20 spot on the Lions to go along with about 8 or 9 assists.  He should have had more, but there were a few blown layups.  Vance had a huge game as well,  getting big rebounds and making his presence known in the paint.

  6. 73-47, final!  Texas really took it to em tonight... it's good to see the horns finally get a convincing victory in Big 12 play.  Another positive, AJ Abrams hit three 3 pointers.  He's been struggling since the start of conference.

Abrams struggling is a bit of a understatement!!  But it's good to se AJ get back into the rhythm of things and start hitting 3-balls like he is capable of doing...

  7. I agree 100%, Augustin is on a different level than most point guards in the country and it showed last night.  He could have went to the basket any time he wanted to.  Damien James is playing at the level of a All-American, stepping out and showing he can be a scorer and a good decision maker.

Texas will be exposed in big twelve play because of the lack of a big man. I know its only his fourth game but Gary Johnson is terrible...and I'm sticking to that until he proves otherwise.

  8. Silsbee nearly pulled 100 point against them twice last year and I think it will go to silsbee. Just too many weapons and speed like setxreporter say.  Silsbee will be playing without their leading scorer tomorrow night though. But they still have alot more secret weapons.

    Silsbee  83

    HF 52

What's Hamshire to do?  Silsbee now has secret weapons!!!!!! :o ;D ;D :D

  9. LC-M balla you are obvisouly a JV player, that thinks he's the best. LC-M has a very good team not better than Ozen, but they will either 2nd or 3rd in front or behind of Nederland.

    I predict

    1.Ozen

    2.LC-M/ Nederland/Central

    3.LC-M/Nederland/ Central

It well be a helluva year to watch.

I have to disagree with you.....while I haven't seen LCM play this year yet, I have seen both Nederland and Central..and Nederland has a snow balls chance at beating Central.....Gulley would take over that game when needed and Central would be just too quick for Nederland in general...

    1. Ozen

    2. Central/LCM

    3. Central/LCM

  10. Tonight at 7 et on ESPN we will get to see perhaps the most talented guard in the nation in Eric Gordon as he and his Indiana squad take on Georgia Tech..................Then directly following that game, Coach K and freshman standout Kyle Singler put their No. 7 ranking on the line when they take the floor with Wisconsin...

You gotta love the Big Ten/ACC Challenge!
