  1. Besides the talent that is already on the 40 acres, Texas will have 5 star SG and No. 2 SG in the nation Avery Bradley, 5 star forward/guard Jordan Hamilton along with 4 star forward Shawn Williams from Duncanville coming next year for the '09 class.  Texas still on the radar for 5 star and No. 2 PG Kenny Boynton from Florida.  This Longhorn class will rank in the top 3..........

Also top 2010 prospect Tristan Thompson has already committed and hasn't started his junior year yet..........Rick Barnes should be eyeing a national title in the coming years.

  2. De La Hoya was brilliant in this fight.  Forbes was completely overmatched and ate De La Hoya's jabs all night.  I have a lot of respect for Forbes because of the fact that he has never been knocked down, but he didn't seem to be that great of a fighter.  De La Hoya on the other hand looked like the Golden Boy of old.....I probably needs two more fights before the rematch with Mayweather but I think he is only going to get one.

  3. I think you are right....but the emphasis on baseball wasn't there before Landry got there and changed everything.  Baseball athletics wasn't even thought of until my senior year of '03 which I think was Landry's first year.

Maybe basketball will get the same thing one day.  A coach (not saying Richards wouldn't) that puts basketball first and demands offseason practices and workouts...someone like Keener.

  4. Yea and then Walker came in and there was STILL a basketball offseason/athletics.......His decision to leave for the Hitchcock job had nothing to do with Tarver, it had to do with him and the fact that he would have a great shot at winning a State title!

I don't know how Mangan runs things now in Hamshire, but basketball offseason or not....your still not gonna be able to work with ALL your players, period.  There has been 3 coaches at Hamshire since Keener left, and believe me..they didn't leave because there was no basketball offseason!

  5. Keener knew what was happening at HF, he knew he had to leave after the '03 class.  The talent level dropped terribly bad after Larnette left. So DickieV is right, there are no hoopers in the Hamshire Fannett area ANYMORE.....The days of Brian Delord, Kirk Ensign, Elijah Bob and Cedric Larnette are long gone......Coach Parr had a good group before Keener got there, but couldn't get them to advance in the playoffs.  Keener was there 3 years and got that HF team further than any other Longhorn team in history....He's just a great coach...

To answer your question BlueDove......To get back on track, HF needs talent....you can be the best coach in the world but without talent..your simply garbage!  I went to one HF game this year and it was against Jasper when the Horns lost on a buzzer beater!  Just watching that game made me throw up in my mouth a little.

  6. This poll needs to be deleted. Its not about who is better? Its about the team and I am sure that all the guys you mentioned were team players. You win and lose as a team.

That's fine and dandy but if you think any great programs (E.C. H.J. Ktz.) Got anywhere without some standout players your sadly mistaken. Its a fact that some are better than others.

You are correct. We all know that. But nothing positive can come out of this poll. Each player was valuable in their own way. Plus there was alot of good basketball player that came from East Chambers. I remember one in 1980 his name was Billy Ray Thomas. You can go back futher than 1980.

Reason for all of these being from the last 5 years is that's as far back as I can remember. I'm sure Billy Ray and others were great but they had kids playing before I was even born.

Billy Rays son is Tramain and Brett McDonalds son is Vance. Their kids did not play before you were born. Actually they are your age.

I knew whos kids they were and your right about them. Billy Ray had an older son you may not know unless your from Winnie who graduated long before I remember watching football and basketball games. I didnt think about the McDonalds. But this all started at great players from say the 80's and earlier when in all reality i wouldnt know whom you were talking about even from the 90's unless it was Ben West or somone like that.

You're talking about Tramains older brother Billy...he graduated in '01 or '02, you should remember him....
