  1. Coach Edwards, a former assitant for PN-G, used to always say "I've seen better hands on a penguin" when a player would miss an easy fly ball.
  2. There are alot of names worthy of mention here. Stringer is leading BC through the playoffs. Reagan is a legit pick for Jasper. West Brook's Svoboda is worthy. I know I read in the PA News that PNG's Flores finished district with .41 ERA (It said he gave up 2 ER in 44 innings) If that's true then that is really something. There is alot more that I am leaving off, but take your pick.
  3. I know the district was just wrapped up, but can anyone tell me when the coaches meet for the all-district selections? In a few weeks I suppose, but I was just wondering if there was a certain date scheduled.
  4. Nice win for the Indians tonight. Dayton fought hard and had a nice season this year. Flores ends district with a 0.41 ERA while continuing his streak of 5 straight starts without giving up any earned runs. Good luck to the Indians in their first series against Huffman.
  5. First of all, Congratulations to Beau. A no hitter against any team is huge, and he did it against PNG. Mosley had the only RBI of the game. The runner who scored reached on an error by the shortstop. I believe Flores gave up 2 hits, no ER, and 6 k's. Helmke gave up 0 hits, and surprising he had 0 k's. Great job by the Bulldogs D, and way to go Nederland!
  6. And to the starting pitcher who collided with the fence that you are referring to.. I believe he was the kid who pitched a no hitter this week. Looks as if he.. bounced back (no pun intended).
  7. Well here's my opinion if you are dieing to know. PN-G is undefeated in district play. West Brook has lost two. Right now PN-G is the hotter team. Things can change awfully fast though. But to further prove my point, PN-G beat Bayton Sterling and West Brook losses to them. PN-G then losses to West Brook in extra innings. Who is the better team? No one can say, that's what is best about this game. To conclude this, I believe both West Brook and PN-G are both very legit teams, and I think the only reason PN-G has the edge in this ranking is because of the undefeated streak that they are on.
  8. I'm sorry "donkey", but rankings don't happen like that. You can't always base a ranking on who beat who. PN-G beat BH 2-1, does that mean that they should be #1? The answer to that question is no. Anyone of these top 10 teams can beat each other on a given day. I'm not saying that PN-G is better than West Brook by any means, I just don't believe that one game (that happened to go into extra innings) can really validate your argument.
  9. PN-G is 8-0 this year against 4A teams. 2-0 against teams that are ranked in the top ten in 4A (according to the poll). Unfortunately, the 6-6 preseason record against 5A teams has hurt them. I guess that's the price you pay to get ready for district. I don't think Coach Stone and his Indians care too much about these polls. If anything, they can use this as something to prove. Congrats to the local teams that made the new rankings.
  10. Alot of great pitching performances this week. I'll go with PNG's, Flores for Pitcher of The Week. 7 Innings, 0 Hits, 0 Walks, 11 K's against a competitive Central ball club. Would have been a perfect game if the Indians didn't commit two errors. Nice effort by Shawn, Keep it up Indians.
  11. Surprisingly, It was consistant. No missed calls as far as I saw.
  12. PN-G’s Flores no-hits Central The Port Arthur News BEAUMONT – In a game that was woefully short on hits, Port Neches-Groves pitcher Shawn Flores didn’t allow a single one Friday night. Flores struck out 11 batters and pitched a seven-inning no-hitter as the District 22-4A-leading Indians slipped by Beaumont Central 2-0 at Price Daniel Field. The Indian moundsman didn’t walk a batter. Only two PN-G errors prevented a perfect game. PN-G got only three hits off Central pitcher Cameron Alexander. The Indians, now 6-0 in district and 13-7 overall, scored both their runs in the top of the first inning and no one crossed the plate in the next 6 ? innings. Payton Faseler tripled to start things for PN-G and Drew Barnett doubled to score Faseler. Jon Carnahan later scored Barnett from third on a sacrifice fly. PN-G’s only other hit was a seventh-inning double by Jeremy Dominguez. Central fell to 2-4 in district, 6-8 overall. The Indians host Dayton Tuesday at 7 p.m.
  13. There is alot of talent on the mound this year in our area. Who has the best combo? I'm going with Harrington/Flores at PNG. After 4 district games, they have given up 2 ER's combined. Maybe that's more like a 1-1 punch. Give me your thoughts.
  14. Well.. PN-G has beat the #3 and #4 teams on this list, and they took the #2 team into extra innings.. I believe it may be time to throw the Indians right in the middle of the rankings.
  15. Flores is doing well. He found out yesterday that there is no ligament damage in his knee, but it is still badly bruised and swollen. He had to get 13-16 stitches on his eyebrows and a little above. He won't be playing in tonights game against BH. He hopes to be able to play some first base and DH this weekend, but it looks doubtful. I talked to Shawn and he said he should be 100% by the first district game against Ozen.
