I hope this doesn't make him want to lay off football next year and concentrate on baseball :(
If I were his parents I would ask him not to play. Lots of time recruiters ask you not to play other sports besides like track or powerlifting, non-impact sports. If he really did commit to UT for baseball then he's elite good. Most time you only have about 10-15 full scholarship players on a baseball team and most of those are pitchers. The other kids went to A&M because UT and Guirrido didn't offer, those programs are on two different levels. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Denny plays second so that means he could have just as well gotten drafted and went to the minors depending on the signing bonus offered. No way I would let him risk a torn acl for something that doesn't matter after next year.
I have no data currently but I would be surprised if a college team had that many full scholarship baseball players.......not saying you are wrong, it is just hard to believe
You're right, most of the time it's about 10 max. A lot of times baseball scholarships pay everything besides room/board and a meal plan. Those aren't "full" scholarships but they would only require the parents to pay about 2k a semester to supplement the rest of the scholarship and this is what the majority of baseball players on the team will have. Most of the full scholarship guys are pitchers anyway though, going to be interesting to see if he can make it to the big leagues and stay unlike our big league Crosby product who set the Astros single game rbi record but can't seem to bat over .200 for any extended periods of time. Got somebody to follow from Barbers Hill besides a golfer now.
Actually, you have had several BH baseballers to follow the last few years. Hales, Thamm, Silva, Barrera,Townley,Henscey, Burditt, Presnall, Padgett(two of them), Campbell.  Got a roundballer at Tx State, Ybarra. D1 has 11.7 scholarships a year, max. No full rides in baseball unless you get academic. best I've heard recently (two BH pitchers, mine included, 70-72%). Most include a meal plan. Top tier gets a per semester stipend check to use as wanted. If you are paying room/board,food, elec, cable, you are shelling out way more than 2K a semester. that's not counting any spending money.
Way to go Jacob, awesome young man, well deserved.
Congratulations to Jacob, surely he had more to pick from than Lamar huh? I understand it's close to home and stuff, but with his build and velocity I would think he would have had more offers.
I actually helped recruit Jacob for the Houston Heat...It is my understanding that this is where he really wanted to go and the "deal" was done early. I think it's a good choice for him and look for him to be very successful. Best of luck, Jacob.  The Cardinals are getting a quality pitcher and a fine young man.
 3. Congratulations to Christian. I saw this kid play twice this year while scouting another player. Very impressed with Thames...Lot's of talent and plays the game the right way and with passion. Best of luck !

I simply can't believe the UT's and Baylor's don't give Full offers
Not normally. The top is usually 70%.
Wow. So that explains why some look to go pro instead....especially if they are full time baseball players
Possibly. You can get to 100% with academic scholarships, etc... The pro scouts provide potential draftees with multi-page questionnaires. The gist of which is focused on your financial commitment to your family and your educational commitment. They have a real good idea about your signability before draft day.
You got that right...If you are projected to go in top half of the draft, the scouts know 'everything" about you. SummerCreekitis---It is also one reason you see kids go the JUCO route. You remain draft eligible each year. If you sign with a 4-year university, you must stay 3 years or be 21 to be draft eligible again.

 7.
Just curious but why do they need to be juniors?  I know several 2015's who have played 17u ball the last two summers and have looked good , real good on the mound while demonstrating the qualities you are looking for.
They do not neccessarily(?) have to be juniors..We have bumped up a few sophs in the past. Please send me PM if you have someone in mind. I would appreciate it.
I will say this. The owner of the site is searching for ways to increase the amount of income for this site in order to keep it running. The costs of running the site has gone up. We upgraded to a bigger and better server to handle the increase in traffic. The bigger the site grows, the more expensive it is to keep running. Would love to keep this site a free site, but times do change. The site will not go down within a week. That was tongue in cheek. But that doesn't mean that everything is "peachy king" as far as the costs are concerned. There will come a time when this will have to be addressed in order to keep the site running. The owner has set up the donation function again. Any donation is appreciated. We are discussing things like subscriptions and advertising. If anyone has any ideas please post them. We could use all the input we can get. Thanks for helping make this site what it is, simply the best!!
Posters have to pay a dollar for every smite they get?
Holy smokes, I can buy ESPN for that amount of money.  ;D
You got that right... ;D ;D ;D
 17. Congratulations. Best of luck. ULL was one of my son's main rivals (ULM) but I tell you the atmosphere at games (football and baseball) was awesome at ULL. Love the way they have the stadiums and tailgate area set up. Fun exciting times for Mr. Guidry, best of luck.

He is projected to be the #5 starter on the MLB roster next year. [Hidden Content]
Awesome stuff. I've knowed Brett from his varsity years. Really like the kid....hope nothing but success for him.
My son played in LL with Brett many years ago. He was 9 and Brett was 12. Their team won the Highlands LL Major Championship (very big deal at the time). They have been friends since. Brett is a great young man with a good head on his shoulders. He is currently working on his degree in the off-season. No matter how his baseball career pans out, Brett will be successful in life.
I completely agree. However, knowing Brett, pretty good chance his baseball career pans out.
