On normal kids schools wait because they always think they can get players they can't. They have a certain number of slots to fill at a certain position. If a school is looking at dbs they have a wish list and a another list of who they would take if all those kids commit. Pick an offer/commit sheet to look at on ESPN, right now you have all the "wish" kids with offers and the others with just "interest". When the "wish" kids commit then they offer the "interest" kids, but that usually isn't until January when they review all the kids on their "big board's" senior season. A lot of seniors right now are just getting recruiting calls and letters, once it gets closer to signing day you will start to see those turn into offers. Kids like Mitchell and Raliegh Johnson just have interest right now, by the new year they'll start to pick up offers. Jakobi Jones doesn't have an official offer on rivals yet either, do you think he's going to Lamar or McNeese? Please post what you know. Recruiting has jumped over the years if you dnt have and offer by now from a fbs school your probably not getting one. And yes Jakobi Jones will end up at a juco or Lamar or Mcneese type of school. I do all the recruiting for WOS and most of my kids had offers before the season started and while they are all talented experts wouldn't call them elite.

If he goes to a school like that it's going to be grades or other issues, he's small but they take kids that size all the time. It's probably more along the situation I had my senior year with UH. Coach Bradley Peveto recruited me after I blew away a 7 on 7 camp but told me he had to recruit me as an athlete if Anthony Evans committed as a rb, Jones is most likely in the same situation. It's idiodic to think that some seniors now won't have offers three months from now though. Your basically saying recruiters say, "we're only taking kids that have great junior years, forget what they do when they're seniors."I am posting what I know, I was recruited and offered by SFA, Sam, and McNeese as well as other FCS and D2 schools. I didn't get an FBS offer until around January when I committed to Rice after being recruited by Barney Farrarh, two or three days before signing day I found out that I wasn't going to qualify and wanted to take the scholarship offer I had to play db at UH but they were fully committed by then so I went to South Dakota State instead. Coach Farrarh wanted me to go to East Mississippi or Southeast Mississippi JUCO for a year to get my grades up but back then I thought I was above a JUCO. These are the WOS kids for this year, maybe I shouldn't have used the word elite and instead said "being shown interest from multiple FBS schools". The WOS kids are on some FBS schools "wish" list and therefore have impressive offer sheets already.  [Hidden Content]

Manor may be too much unless the Coogs figure something out between now and then.
And by the way I know the score was worse but we played Dayton when they were still good early in the year, but you know BH is the only one of the top 6 teams Dayton played in the district that didn't put up over 300 yards right? I would worry about BH, you averaged 11 points a game on the playoff teams in the district.
 3.
I'm rooting for the Cougars, but they are very lucky to be in round 2 after what I watched on Saturday. Manor may be too much unless the Coogs figure something out between now and then.
Other than the two turnovers in the redzone I don't understand what looked so bad. We gained the second most yards on Ozen and held them to the second least and they had 6 playoff teams on the schedule. This is pretty much the same team that put 40 on BH at home last year when they were 4-6 just like Saturday. Austin had either 211 rushing yards or 226 depending on what stats you believe, the most given up by Ozen to any one player. We didn't throw for as many as we usually do but Ozen has the best secondary in 20-4a according to recruiters. We also underthrew a slant where #15 had broke the db off and was wide open but the ball was too low. This was a game team with a solid defense, I believe they had second rated D in 20-4a behind Ned. and they showed up and played like that. Ozen was the second most athletic team we played all year behind SC, Ned. has good athletes but the Ozen guys were faster and more agile. Ozen's first td came after Crosby stopped them on 4th and 5 from about the 10 but the db lined up offsides. Ozen probably had about 75 total yards before the last drive in the 4th quarter. They ended with 167 total yards and 68 of that came on a Jakobi Jones run where our dbs had to go catch him from behind. Even with that run Jones only ended with like 107 on 18 carries. We also held them to 25 passing yards on 9/13. Nobody on their schedule besides Ned contained Ozen like that. It's all good though, only way to disprove the non-believers is to win.

 5. This is the kind of team that gives BH trouble. They spread you out and try to get it to their speedy playmakers in space. I know this year's Brenham's team was over rated because of their usual 9-1 record but Elgin still held them to 271 yards, put up over 500 and forced 5 turnovers. Elgin looks like the same kind of team as Crosby so we'll get our chance to see if the BH d can deal with the spread rushing attack now.
 6.
I Summer Creek fans aren't talking about another teams defense.  You have up 417 rushing yards to a one dimensional team.  All they do is run the ball, you knew they were going to run the ball and you couldn't stop it.  You better find a plan for Angleton because they will run for 500+ against you.  I'll be rooting for you guys against G'rown.
Angleton's O sounds like it's pretty good but they still lost to a 2-4 George Ranch team earlier in district play and only managed 21 points. Ned put up their second highest point total of the year with multiple turnovers. Ned just doesn't put up any yards, they only had 276 on Vidor and got outgained by 35 yards. Ned moved it on Dayton, but all the decent teams in the district moved the ball on Dayton like that besides BH. If Ned could only beat Vidor by 7 and Vidor had a chance late to tie it up, plus gave up more yards than they gained I just don't see how Ned can score enough to stay with SC. They could have easily put 60 on Vidor if they didn't get off the gas and all Ned could manage was on more point than they scored on Crosby. Ned is good but I don't think they could score enough points to stay with SC for 4 quarters.
 7.
Vidor would've pummelled Crosby, seriously.
Only game you could make an argument Vidor played better than Crosby was Ned. They scored one more point on us than they did on Vidor. Vidor scored 6 more pts on Ned than us but is was our first game of the season with a new coaching staff and live play-calling. You get Crosby that played KP maybe, you get Crosby that played BH probably not. We went 6-2 in what could be proved the toughest district in the region after next weekend, don't get it twisted because you didn't get TOTALLY embarrassed by SC. We would've had another td and well over 500 total yards if we didn't have a drop where the Crosby receiver beat the SC db on a post with with no safety help. Maybe Crosby and Vidor get to do it next year with senior twins and no MQ, cheer for Central.
 8.
460 to be exact. if my memory is correct i think that's the most yards any team put on sc.
Yeah, Crosby had 459 yards on SC per the Chronicle( Baytown Sun said we had 481). South Houston had 28 pts so you lost that one by one. Don't think Vidor would have beat us though. We held Ozen to less yards and had more, beat them by the same 7 with two turnovers in the redzone. Plus the Chronicle over here said y'all had 450. [Hidden Content]

He has the mental skills, and There have been small players  his size who have succeeded in college, and pros, but not many lately. I can't see him playing QB anywhere. (there are just too many HS QB who have a more well rounded game (pass, and run QB's with experience)) I can see him being a running back, or safety. (if he gains 20lbs, so he can survive college level hits.)
Actually, after seeing the stats of Alabama's player's, Vidor's Montana could possibly play there, and some other teams. Quite a few players there are his size, and are starters.
I agree, you don't have to be big but those guys you're looking at on the Tide roster possess a different level of athleticism. That's why Quirante may have similar size to Brown at Ozen but Alabama has already offered him as a junior due to the nature of his ability, not his high school stats. Look up a kid named Bobby Gonzalez from Weslaco, great high school player like Quirante but never got the looks because of how the scouts perceived him.
 10. This is probably another kid you see switch to db at the next level. He's definitely a qb on the FCS level but I think he's going to bet FBS offers which would probably require him to switch to wr or db. [Hidden Content]
 11.
What's they story on Crosby? What type of offense do they run?  Just trying to see what my Mustangs are up against this Saturday.
We run a spread option. Our backfield are identical twins, QB has throw for about 1850 yards and rushed for another 700, the running back has a shade under 1900 yards on the season. Have a couple good receivers and a nasty defense. We just held the last team we played to their second worst showing of the season and we were the 6th playoff team they played this year. I think the team we just played is a lot like y'all except Manor has a better passing game. The team we just played though probably has 3 D1 commits in the secondary along with Tony Brown who might be ranked as the best db in the country for the 2014 class. Our defense bottled up their playmakers though, including Jakobi Jones who is one of the most dynamic players in the region.

He's going to be competing against kids like Glenn Roberts for a scholarship at the rb position this year. I think he's best suited to play weak side lb or depending on how fast he is, strong safety. Couldn't find the official offer from BYU, just something about a visit. That doesn't mean they're not going to offer or ask him to walk on though.
Couldn't find the official offer? 15.
This team has a lot of rushing yards considering 1) this is a pass 1st offense, and 2) the starting RB's rotate (thunder and lightening). Combined rushing yards by all 3 backs is over 1500 yards. If one of our backs had those yards, we'd be singing another song right now.
Y'all shouldn't think Aldridge is the best then. Walter finished with more than all three of your backs. He had 1,667 yards during the regular season and 211 more. If he ran behind y'all line you could pencil him in for and easy 2000.
 16. This is the game right here SC might get to quiet all the naysayers. Playing a school that just dropped down from 5a at realignment this year and could be going back next. Going to be the first time all year SC doesn't have a size and speed advantage. If SC goes out here and executes and wins comfortably I think they have to be the favorite to win the region. I believe this year's version of Dawson has too many holes, if you can manage to stop their power run game their offense is seems to lack a second act this year so I would take SC in that one if they could get past Ned. Georgetown can throw it around just like SC so it going to be interesting to see what the mirror holds. I'll take SC by 10 though, banking on Georgetown's 10-0 being a little weaker.

(possible weak defense at Angleton?) If so, then it may turn into a shootout, if SC makes it past Georgetown. (Georgetown looks like they may be evenly matched against us.)
Maybe not weak, but not as good as their used to seeing. Ned scored their 2nd highest point total of the season on Angleton and if I'm not mistaken Ned fumbled like 5 times.
4 INT's and a couple of fumbles. And Hopkins was not even in at running back the second half.
Yeah, wasn't sure but I remember y'all saying something like that.
 18. I'll take Ned. No statistical reason due to nature of it being too difficult to compare districts, especially when they're 150 miles apart. I'll just go with this: Manor just beat Connally at home and is the third place team in their district. I think the first place team from 20-4a is better than the third place team from 17-4a Connally just lost to. Ned also has a more impressive body of work beating 6 playoff teams to this point, over half their schedule. Don't know the score but probably something in the low 20's, the exact game Ned wants.

Manor Huntsville?
Waco loss 20-14:  First game of the season. Got behind early, came on strong at the end. We scored to close to gap to six with a few minutes left. We recover the kickoff on their 25 yard line. We got a penalty for illegal formation. One kid with both feet behind the 35 yard line. We stop them, and got the ball at our 3 yard line with 1:20 left. Game ended on their 2 yard line. We caught the pass and our receiver knocked his teammate down. Leander loss 28-7:  Tied at 7-7 midway thru the 3rd.  Should have been up 21-7 at the half. Drop two wide open balls. Their bigger, stronger was better than our faster. Georgetown loss 43-8: we played without our QB. They dominated.  I don't think we would have won with him, but it wouldn't have looked so bad. Best win: @ Pflugerville Connally 20-17. No one outside of Manor thought we would win.  Down 10-0 at the half. News cameras went home. RB Owens had maybe 20 yards in the first half. Ended the game with 254. Huntsville win was big. We dominated them in all phases of the game. ( Including turnovers and penalties. We sure had a lot more of each)
And this is why Crosby will lose in a blowout.
You must think they would blow Vidor out too. Y'all beat Ozen by the same 7 we did. We put up more yards than Vidor on Ozen and held them to less. Scored 6 less points but we had the two turnovers deep in the redzone. This is going to be one of the nastiest and fastest defenses Manor has seen all year. We had a bad game against Dayton. Still put up nearly 500 yards on them just had numerous breakdowns in the secondary but hopefully that's fixed. Even with our Ned game we're still averaging a shade under 400 ypg on the 5 playoff teams we've played so far this year. Stats don't mean anything now, if they did Vidor wouldn't have almost gotten doubled up by SC.
 21. I was sitting at the top of the stadium about 10 row behind a BH fan and his sons. I want to apologize ahead of time for giving them any hope of thinking they can beat Crosby in the near future, plus I'm predicting it rains the next 11 times we play removing all doubt. Just enough for my youngest son to graduate. Can't believe there aren't more Dayton excuses, that might be worse than having excuses because at least that means you thought you were supposed to win. I bet it's been a long time since a Dayton fan had a loss that seemed like it was somewhat expected.
 22. Just for the Cougar fans feeling a little shaky about the performance: We just gained more yards on Ozen (314) than any other team on their schedule besides Nederland (330). We also held them to the second least yards of the year (167). Ned held them to 127. Ozen schedule included Beaumont Westbrook, PA Memorial, Stephenville, Vidor and Livingston. Ozen also surrendered 211 rushing yards on 21 carries and 3tds to Austin Walter, the most of any single player on the season. Like I said, if Crosby would have played cleaner the gap could have easily been double digits but it didn't happen and Ozen made us play 48 mins and then some. Hats off to 'em. I think the Cougars will be fine with a little tuning this week. Great upcoming matchups though, everybody in 19-4a plays the team that finished in the same position in 17-4a. See if we really have the strongest district in the region. (Chronicle stats above) *(Baytown Sun stats for Ozen game - Au. Walter 226 yards  Crosby team total  335 yards)
 23.
Hard fought game that went to overtime. ozen never did quit or give up. Thanks seniors, time to regroup for next year. go panthers.  8)
Thank you also for your band. Panther band drowned us out all day and played at the right time (when Crosby had the ball). Had me jammin' for about 3 hours straight.
 24. Missing a couple numbers in there. Aston has 1764 passing, 661 rushing. Austin had 1665, 10.6 ypc before today. 2580 rushing - 1945 pass - 4525 total, 452.5 ypg (per today's program)  Manor can move it though, had over 500 yards against Huntsville. Might need a calculator for this one.
 25.
Those teams over there are hard to judge. I know Vista Ridge, and Cedar Park are really good. Georgetown just dropped down from 5A, and Manor, Elgin area are growing so fast out there that they are bound to have some good athletes. I'm just guessing on all of these games honestly by who they've played.
I was actually thinking they had a weak district until they swept 18-4a in impressive fashion. I don't think 18-4a's got within single digits any of their games.
