  1. Non-district games are on a 2 year contract in 99.9% of the circumstances. This season started a new 2 year cycle for everyone (it coincides with realignment). So Tarkington could've scheduled anybody they wanted to as long as both teams agreed. Go back and look at your post that I quoted. I was referencing your statement that you can't replace someone on your schedule from last year.

I understand that part, but I meant that schools cant replace who they played last year if the other teams do not agree to play. So I could see how sometimes you end up with a schedule more difficult or easier than other years. But in reality you play who is on your schedule and to make playoffs you have to beat whoever is on your schedule regardless. So we can argue the whole who has an easier schedule all day and get absolutely nowhere. But goodluck to both teams! Go Horns!

  2. Um actually this years schedule started a new 2 year cycle...so Tarkington could've theoretically scheduled anyone in preseason

Um actually when other teams decline your request to play them you cant put them on your schedule. From what I hear there are several teams from Tarkington's general area and that were in the district last season that declined to put Tarkington on their schedule. So in theory it doesn't work like that

  3. Dude look at ur schedule...ur plsying schools who look like a freshmsn team...wake up...or better yet keep flying high so u have farther to fall friday night...gonna be awesome to see those stands clearing early on homecoming

You have lost your mind if you think that Tarkington is just going to give up and not play Shepherd in a tight game. Both teams have improved and if you can't see that then you are a complete moron and know absolutely nothing about football. It will be a close game but Tarkington has some major confidence and defense has been playing well. Its not going to be an easy game for either team this week. You are oblivious to how the schedules get set as well. Its not like you can just cancel a game that was on last years schedule and replace it with  whoever you want to.

  4. Trust me I wasn't talking about you or any of the Tarkington fans.  If you read many of the threads on here you will see a few people that talk about their team kicking everyone's butt and so on and on and on and on.  In our district we cannot hardly "have any discussion" without some of these guys taking over the thread with 20 pages of posts about how they are gonna beat everyone down.  I haven't seen Tarkington play in several years.  Our team is not very big this year but we have some speed and our kids will always play hard.  We are proud of our team and coaching staff because of the way they play and act on and off the field.  What is Tarkington looking like this year??

I definitely understand that because there are several people on here that are very uneducated on what they talk about and "smack talk" for no reason....Several big guys. Didn't lose very many guys at all. Several outstanding athletes and a few D1-D2 caliber players. Multiple offensive threats. This team plays well together and tough group of guys. They all play hard and give everything they got. Horns still are going to have to execute and play almost perfect football to beat EC though. From what I have heard and from what I saw last year at the scrimmage they are very disciplined and play at a high level and are very good at executing. So its going to be a good game and a really good test for the Horns to see where they are as a team play this type of caliber team. Especially one with this many consecutive playoff appearances. Good luck to both teams and safe travels for team and fans.

  5. If you don't know a lot about Kountze then how do you know Shepherd will win?

Because that is my opinion and I am going off of what I know about each team. I don't know who all returned from Kountze last year but going off the score last season and how much Shepherd has improved my gut tells me that Shepherd will win. Just making a prediction.

  6. We read the board but don't post too much.  Rather do our thing on the field.  We've been in the playoffs for close to 20 years in a row so there is no need to constantly run off  at the mouth like a few of the posters on here do.  I guess they are just now seeing some success with their program and don't know how to handle it.  As far as predictions go, I think EC has too much speed for Tarkington and will get the win.  I don't think any team will go unbeaten this year in our district.

Not to stir up anything, but just because a person states their opinion on here about the score or how they think it will turn out is not necessarily smack talk or "run off at the mouth". Also it does not mean they don't know how to handle it a little success. I took Cat's comment as he thought there would be more discussion "not smack talk" about the upcoming game and how people felt the outcome will be of the game. There was not many EC fans to begin with posting anything about their thoughts about either team. Just my opinion.

Goodluck to all the coaches and players in this one for Tarkington and EC. Going to be a good one. Like Socrates said it will be a good test for the Longhorns.

  7. Scrimmages are for the coaches to see who can play where, and to get everyone a chance to show their abilities and get some live work in. Not play varsity level all 7-10 innings and not put any lower level players in. Its a scrimmage so don't read too far into this score. Also how the weather has been I'm sure either team has not had a whole lot of scrimmage work or live work from practices lately. Most of the time scores are irrelevant in scrimmages and nobody cares what the score is it's just to get extra work. Glorified practice!

Correction. That was actually an error on the last play.....on a side note....a lot of respect for number 4 on both teams. Both are classy individuals and both left it all on the field along with their teammates. Very good matchup and almost identical teams with both games decided by 1 run. Congrats Orangefield
