If they can complete 5 passes the score will be Coldspring by 12, but if they only attempt and/or complete 2 passes, LaMarque by at least 21. Coldspring has to complete passes to keep the linebackers and safeties from crashing the box but the predictable QB roll-outs will not work but once or twice, the rest have to be three step drops or shotgun by the QB to have time to pass. Coldspring will still do the scat-trap but I think will pass more this game. Coldspring by 12 points.
How many of these 5 completions need to be to the tight end? ;)
Smart a$$. I never said pass to one person. Just so you know the person you trying to reference played tightend last year and only plays tightend a couple of times a game now. Before calling someone out, know your facts. Or did you get your reporting skills from a Cracker Jack Box? Coldspring passed the ball several times against Navasota (to several different people) but only completed two passes, that I remember. Thats why I said complete 5 passes (to anyone). If this is only your website and no one else can have an opinion, let people know it is AGGIESAREWE.com.

6. Either Coldspring has it together on Offense/Defense already or Huntsville is extremely weak. 7 td's to 1 td.
7. Huffman beat Coldspring the first game in bottom of the 7th inning by getting one run. I think the kids realized that Huffman was not as strong as the years before and was not intimidated the second time they played. When a kid believes and has confidence anything can happen. This is off topic but to respond to Luke, a Coach should have his team motivated and fundamentally sound or you get, what you get from the parents. Coaches make mistakes same as everyone else but when they don't change or correct what they are doing during the game or how they are practicing and the same mistakes happen year after year, then the Coach is not motivated. Most parents spent a life time watching their kids play competitive sports only to see a Sunday-pick-up-game-attitude from some coaches. Thats why Daddy Ballers and parents blame the coach because somewhere along the line they seen the same kids play better ball either from better practices or different game plans and/or positions. Any parent that has been a part of competitive ball, I'm sure hold their kids to a high standard letting them hear it at the house but the coach put those kids in the position they are in (error or not) and if the coach keeps them there after mistakes then he is to blame.
8.
Is that the Kyle stewert that used to be at  Jasper?
If that is the same Stewert that was at Coldspring, you better ask someone (Parents) from Coldspring why is resignation was "accepted". Some things or bad situations are just swept under the table to save face for the school, thats all I can say on that.
9. The first two was the pitcher and catcher. The umpire got hit in the face mask with a 90 mph fast ball and I think he thought the catcher missed it on purpose. Ejected them both. They was not getting the calls they wanted and maybe he thought they did it in objection to the calls. It looked like the catcher or pitcher miscomunicated on the pitch call and/or got crossed up with a curve ball. I know the catcher and he is a good kid, competitive but good. The other was ejected for arguing a third strike call. The Shepherd crowd would not stop taunting the umpire for another inning and he cleared the stands.
10. Crazy game never seen anything like it. Three Shepherd ejections and stands cleared to continue game. Police called and umpire escorted off the field after game. Both big pitcher and his brother pitched.

Guards traveling, turnovers, and lack of shooting, when they did shoot our forwards was not in position to attempt to get a rebound. The coach seemed to change his whole offense to a spread and slash type, which pulled out our taller forwards. The one on one would of worked if they could make layups. I think the coach blew it when he sat two of our rebounders and inside players down in the Fourth Quarter. When they was in we had better defense, rebounds, and started to catch up on the offensive side. I know Sykes scored 28 but how many times did he shoot the ball? I bet he put the ball up over 50 times. Enough said, Good win, good luck to the tigers.
Sykes was 9/25 from the field, 36%. He also was 9/16 from the FT line, 56%. No where near 50 shot attempts. ::) Sykes did score 55% of Coldsprigs total points (28 of 51). The other 4 starters combined for just 13 points (Denson 8, T. Johnson 3, Scott 2, Lilley 0  The Trojans bench scored 10. (Gilbert 6, Baines 4) Wasn't impressed by the post players for Coldspring. When the guards got the ball to them in the first half, they didn't produce, missing several shots or turning the ball over. (Lilley had 3 turnovers the first 4 times he touched the ball, Denson had two as well early on). Maybe that is why Coach Northrup went to Sykes more in the second half. It doesn't surprise me at all that you would come on here and claim it was the coaches fault. It's been your mantra this whole season. Either it's the coach or the guards fault, never the post players, or at least a certain post player. ;) ::)
I never said the post did their jobs. But the coach runs a guard related offense, like he did all year. The ball is dumped down to the post and to look for the slashing guards whether it is from the top, free throw line, or from down low to the open player at top. It is not for them to post up down low but to screen and be in position to get the offensive rebound. Which you can't if the play pulls the post out top. That is the coach. Pulling one of the best players (Denson), shooter and rebounder out in the fourth quarter was the coach's decision. Every Coldspring player and fan knew Denson needed to be in the game. All year we kill sorry teams but I said several times his offense would not work against Navasota or HJ but I was hoping we could upset Silsbee. The offense is ok if it works but we had previous trouble with Crockett, FairField, and Kountze. That should of showed him it was not going to work on fast teams or when we pull the post out top. Since your the stat man how many turnovers and what was the field % for each player the whole game? How may Offensive rebounds did the three post get? It looks like I'm wrong on trying to guess stats.

13. How do you give up 18 rebounds and 6 blocks to one person, let along under 6' and say you didn't underestimate the kids from Splendora. Can anyone answer that one? The nervousness from this site's Broadcaster's during the game showed everyone underestimated Splendora. Coldspring knew Splendora was scrappy. I'm just pointing out the obvious. This is not about what you've done at the beginning of the season but are you ready now and can your team produce when a team is as fast as you. I remember a WOS Football team that suppose to of had 9 kids run under 4.5/40 yards, so speed does not matter to use. I realize our team had their problems but I believe the hype will create focus and determination for our kids. We'll see Tuesday.
14. Silsbee was holding their breath a few times against Splendora through-out the game and if a few three's fell early in the game, then it would of ended different. Coldspring never gave up that many rebounds to a person under 6' like they did to Splendora. I think they under estimated Splendora just like they are doing to Coldspring. Number 5 in state is going to their head, Coldspring is not intimidated. They are not HJ, by far. Silsbee's luck will be running out Tuesday.
15. Coldspring played Kountze, Crockett, and the team they beat Central Heights. We know who is better, Crockett by 12 points.
16. Coldspring's center and big forward gets +/- 10 blocks per game. If it is a tight called game the coach pulls the center way to ealy. If the Coach pulls one of them due to a tight called game, then Coldspring has trouble pulling the win out. Splendora stayed within 15 points the first time due to a tight called game but lost by 30 when we was allowed to play the next time. If they let them play we win due to steals and physical defense. I know Silsbee had trouble with Splendora's physical play for rebounds and their shots getting blocked. We are more physical than them. Coldspring +6 and a long ride home for Silsbee.
17. Coldspring will be ready due to the hype, but this could go either way. It all depends on Coldspring's guards. They have too many second half turn-overs and still unable to shoot the outside shot with confidence. Stafford was closer than it should of been, coach almost waited too long to sub some of the guards, Coldspring three big men kept them in the game with rebounds and defense. Coldspring by 6 points, if the referee's allows them to play.
18. Yes, I was at that game. Fernell Scott was a Senior. Same thing I'm talking about happened the. Guards too inconsistant and shots going up before the post are ready to rebound.
19. That soon, sounds like a plan. If that doesn't motivate them to get it together nothing will.
20. Silsbee and HJ has always had a good group of Basketball players and have basketball history. I was hoping to see this group (before the seniors graduate) challenge that history and tradition. I don't think they ever had played them. They are not consistant enough from the guards (turnovers, traveling, weak outside shooting, poor passing) to predict how far they will make it. But, I think Coldspring will bring their A game if they meet either one just because of the hype the schools generate. All they had to do was beat Navasota last year and this year they will need to go deep to see them.  Thats what I hope they do, go deep but looks like they will have some tuff opponents past their first game. Too tuff to be inconsistant from the guard positions.
21. Looked good first quarter, maintained second quarter, but lost momentum second half, like they lost their spirit. Coach should stay with his sub rotation that he used in the first (all of his big men), that looked the best. I see frustration setting in already for the team. If he presses then go with the smaller/quicker guards. Guards in his second and fourth quarter rotation continue to get beat off dribble (all year), has to have help defense everytime, makes for a easy pass and score and/or foul. Guards shooting weak except for Gilbert, they often shoot before the post are able to get set to fight for the rebound, this makes for a one shot and sprint to other end game. I seen the same thing vs. Navasota second round last year. I hope the coach gets it together, I would like them to play Silsbee at least one time.
22. I wouldn' get too excited. Coldspring was missing their main defensive player with a twisted ankle (6'4" Lilley). It looked like the coach tried to pull it out without him but put played him the last 3:00 hoping to get a defensive stand. It hurt without his rebounds and blocking ability the whole game. He should be ready next week for Huffman. With that being said the rest of the team and Coach should of been able to pull it out. I hope it opened their eyes to work on defense and rebounding by the whole team during games and practice, instead of running the court over weaker teams. This same thing killed us against Navasota last year in Area, no rebounds, lack of defense, and no post-up game. No excuses, good win Cleveland.
23. Coldspring won but I bet Cody Everitt had 40 or more points for Shepherd. Coldspring guards could not stop him. May be MVP if he did that on the other teams.
24. Like I said, everyone in district may have a shot at beating Cleveland this second half of the year.
25. I'm not complaining or protesting the list, just saying watch these 3 players shine when the team needs them or the coach calls their number. I've seen moments of athleticism displayed and for now they are team players and very unselfish with the ball. It is tough to spread the work or see anything special when the teams we play can't break the press. Just keep a eye on them when the playoffs start.
