  1. Diboll 7-0 8:51 left in first q. Scored on 4th down pass.
  2. UT has very little depth at RB right now. Starter Keontay Ingram true Soph, 2nd team Jordan Whittington is a true Freshman are both good to go week 1. 3rd team Daniel Jones has ankle injury, 4th string Kirk Johnson has a shoulder injury that will keep him out for a while. One of their freshman RB recruits Derrian Brown had a stroke during his senior year, so he is out for the season as well. Walkon Jarrett Smith out for first game. I hope this isn't a permanent move, but Shug is electric. UT's freshman this year have a chance to really show out.
  3. Peyton Havard JR Bridge City 1 vs Nederland Sam Carpenter SO Bridge City 1 vs Nederland
  4. Believe me, if I knew the answer I would be telling everyone I know. I've had season tickets since the early 2000's when we dropped to 3a. There have been some awesome seasons and some that are tough to watch. I've heard the phrase its not the X's and O's its the Jimmy's and Joe's, but I can honestly say I've seen both sides of that be true. Over the last 20 years I've seen some great athletes come through the program and some good coaches too, they have rarely crossed paths. Hopefully the current regime can help the program continue to grow and move in the right direction.
  5. So, because there is an opening at Bridge City for OC, that led to once again BC kids being soft, scared, lazy, and the baseball coaches are selfish and forcing those same soft, scared and lazy kids to commit to the baseball program? Am I understanding this thread correctly? And as for me being a baseball guy that tries to pretend like it doesn't keep happening over and over, I don't have any ties to the high school baseball or football program. My son is in 8th grade right now, he plays football, and baseball and throws shot and discus . He will play football and baseball as long as he is in school. My only reason for even commenting on this post was because every time BC football comes up, the same people get on here and complain about how the big bad baseball coaches and the terrible daddy ball baseball parents are ruining football. I just want you guys to know that some of us don't hate football
  6. No, we love football. It just seems like some Bridge City posters on here just hate other sports.
  7. I agree junior high and sub varsity success doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. What i do hope to see, is continuity with the coaches and the offseason program. Kids do have to buy in and commit like CardinalBacker said, we have some hard working kids coming up and hopefully they can continue to get better. That's all we can really ask for at this point. Get better everyday.
  8. Look, i realize this is a football post. Football is king in Texas and always will be. I was just trying to give a few reasons why a kid may decide not to play football. Unless my kid gets another concussion, he will play football until he graduates. If he chooses to do so.
  9. I'm fairly certain that the type of offense has something to do with people wanting to play QB. The previously mentioned athletes played for quite different coaches. Potential for injury probably has something to do with it as well. Concussion possibilities are changing this game, parents of younger children are already making the decision to not let their kids play. Scholarship opportunities are a lot greater in baseball at BC as well, which leads back to the injury point. If a student has a scholarship to play baseball, why would he jeopardize that? College ain't cheap, my oldest doesn't graduate for 5 more years and i cant imagine how expensive it will be by then.
  10. Are you guys seriously talking about Dan Hooks becoming the HC at Bridge City? 80 year old Coach Hooks?
  11. Sorry to see Coach Dubois go, but wish him well
  12. Aren't those the kids that were on the Beaumont youth team that were beating everyone by 50+ points a few years ago in the STJFL?
  13. I can't agree more with the comments about the parents involvement. I remember back in the beginning of the season it was pouring down raining and one of the news outlets on Facebook had a pic of the WOS players running stands. There were so many comments about how the coaches were stupid and and endangering the kids.I bet not one of those comments were from a parent of the Mustang players... I've witnessed first hand coaching little league football. Watching a game before ours at Wos, parents were angry at their own kids for not doing what was expected and they are held accountable for it. It is the polar opposite in BC, in my experience. Coaches are idiots, run the boys too much, don't have little johnny in the right position etc etc. That also trickles down to kids. You would be amazed to hear 11, and 12 year olds talk about how coaches are stupid and don't know what they are doing. Now where do they hear that from?
  14. Wow, great video!! I just shared to Horns Digest. He would sure look good in burnt orange.
  15. Is the video on Texanlive yet? just wondering if its my computer or not.
  16. I believe OF beat two of those teams from above. and WOS B has some VERY good players #12 is a dang good ball player
  17. Yeah, that's what Coach T said on KOGT after the game. Didn't want to take the chance of something going bad, and kids getting suspended from the next game. It was the right call. They said couple kids from each team shook hands and hugged after the game. Sounded like it may have been a positive ending to a terrible couple days.
  18. Yep, good call. It just caught me off guard because i don't remember seeing this before. Sounds like good things happening on the field now according to KOGT. Wish i were there to see it.
