Bulldog92 got a reaction from Spherictrey in Jasper 34 Kilgore 6/Final
One of the editors of DCTF has us going four rounds and losing to Navasota and the other has us going three and losing to Henderson. I think we can play with anyone, but so did Kilgore before they played Jasper. One game at a time. :)

The way we're playing, anything could happen. I'd feel better if the offense had run more than six plays the whole second half and scored, but the defense was pretty stout and I think that's more important.

Garbage time.  For sure, Barbay starts putting in the reserves faster than perhaps any coach I have ever seen.  Stats don't win games, scoring one more point than the other team wins games.  Barbay is more about developing his younger players so that they can step up when needed.  Seems like a good philosophy to me.

Jasper was one student away from being D2. It would have been nice to see WOS again.

KilgoreAggie98,  Thank you for the recap of the kilgore games.  That is good news that Kilgore is near full strength.  There should not be any excuses from either team.  At this point all teams are zero and zero.  To think otherwise is to set yourself up for disappointment.

Spikes and Williams combined had to be close to 400 on the ground with with almost all of it coming in the second half. Huffman had no answer and the score doesn't indicate how dominant Jasper was.

Huffman looked deadly with harrel at the helm. Jasper's speed was evident on both sides of the ball. Lots of talent on both teams. Big win for the dogs. Worst officials i have seen in a long time.

I was in Seattle at the time and I remember being glued to the KJAS stream in Jasper all night. They knew it was coming and that it wasn't gonna be pretty, but Rita was still strengthening Saturday morning as she went north through Jasper County and Jasper itself was hit quite hard considering how far it is from the coast.

The Bulldogs had just come off a 3A title game appearance the year before and they ended up losing QB Gilbert Moye, who transferred to Diboll after the storm. All of the momentum the program had gained in 2004 came to a screeching halt. It's taken a while to get some of that back for a number of reasons, but the hurricane started it all.

I'm watching that too. South Florida's almost certainly gonna get this thing one way or another.

Pass defense has been a problem for us since the spread became trendy. It's all about being disciplined and not overplaying everything. I'm no expert on football theory, but being overaggressive against that type of offense can kill you. People that follow Newton and WO-S should chime in on this.

We seem to have finally stabilized coaching with Coach Barbay after years of turnover due to friction between the athletic department and the school board. That in itself will help improve the program from top to bottom and get the Bulldogs back into the discussion of the most consistent programs in SE Texas. I expect us to be solid for as long as Coach Barbay wants to be there and I hope he is for a long time.
