  1. District 10-3A-II Champion Newton Eagles make their final preparations for the Class 3A, Division II playoffs as they travel to Frankston to take on the Indians. W.T. Johnston's Eagles, 8-0 on the season, improved their season record to 8-0, their district record to 4-0 and clinched the #1 seed out of 10-3A-II with a 75-0 drubbing of Hemphill. Meanwhile, the Indians, 1-8 on the season, fell to 0-4 in district play with a 48-0 loss to Corrigan-Camden. The Eagles will be in action in bi-district play next week as they get a rematch of last season's Region III semifinal with Arp, the #4 seed out of 9-3A-II next Thursday at Wolf Stadium in San Augustine. 2. The Woodville Eagles and the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans battle for the district championship in this 11-3A-I regular season finale! Ty Robinson's Eagles, 7-1 on the season and 5-0 in district play, took the week off last week after a 48-36 win over Kountze two weeks ago. Meanwhile Mark Byrd's Trojans, 6-2 on the season, are sport a 5-0 district mark after besting Kountze 44-8. The winner of this game will take the district championship, the #1 seed and a bi-district date with Hempstead, Anahuac or Hardin. The loser of this game will claim the #2 seed and a matchup with La Marque, East Chambers or Hitchcock. 3. A share of the District 10-4A-I championship is on the line tonight as the Silsbee Tigers host the Cleveland Indians in their regular season finale. Randy Smith's Tigers, 4-4 on the season, improved their record to 3-1 and punched their ticket to the 4A, Division I playoffs with a 61-30 win over Huffman Hargrave. Keith Hendrix' Indians, 3-5 on the season fell to 1-3 in district with a 32-27 loss to Little Cypress-Mauriceville. The playoff picture for the Tigers is a simple matter. A win in tonight's game will secure at least the #2 seed out of District 10-4A-I for the Tigers and get them a bi-district playoff with Henderson (if they beat Palestine tonight). A win plus a Little Cypress-Mauriceville loss to Navasota tonight will earn Silsbee the #1 seed and a date with Center (provided there is not a 4 way tie for 2nd). The Indians still have a shot at a playoff spot as a win tonight and a Bridge City loss to Huffman Hargrave will send Cleveland to the playoffs as the #4 seed out of 10-4A-I and earn them a bi-district date with defending Class 4A, Division I State Champion, Carthage. 6. One thing that you can say is that Danny certainly has sports content back in the Enterprise. Something that was severely lacking under his predecessor. For that I am grateful!
  7. As I look at Danny's poll and sure, it probably would not look identical to mine. I would have Newton on the top as well as they look like 2016 WO-S in the way they are laying waste to teams this year. However, I don't know that I can fault him for who he has at the top of the list. Any school who is a defending 2 time defending state champion in the midst of a 34 game winning streak, which if extended to 35 will enter the Top 10 all time streaks in all of Texas football and who is currently undefeated and one of those victories this season coming against a State ranked 4A Division I team who is predicted to win it's region (Kennedale) does deserve consideration as the top team in the area. The latter being something that the Newton resume, impressive as it is (in fact, impressive enough for me to have Newton number 1 in my vote for our own 4A/3A poll), does not have.
