  16. Not sure how I feel about that. I like the fact that the move to 11 man indicates that there is increased enthusiasm, if not enrollment, has increased down in High Island. It is just that I remember the last few years that High Island was in 11 man with Coach Jones, they were playing essentially playing iron man football at every position. Any injuries could lead to forfeitures which is already a problem in District 12-2A-II, which is purportedly the district that they would be aligned to. Sabine Pass has cancelled their district schedule, Burkeville, which has a 6man eligible enrollment, will probably have a similar problem unless Coach Williams can work some magic. Good luck to them none the less.

  20. On Monday, July 1st, SETXsports.com will roll out it's 2019 Football Team Previews. The final set of questionnaires have been sent out and the coaches' responses are already rolling in! I have determined the final schedule of the previews but will do so in the next couple of days.

  22. The Big Sandy Wildcats have only one team between them and a third consecutive Class 2A State Championship game and that is their state semifinal opponent, the Albany Lions. Jacob Hooker's Wildcats, 34-4 on the season, come in as the Region III Champions and reached this semifinal via a 2-0 (18-0, 17-0) bi-district series win over Mumford, a 8-3 area round win over Shiner, a 2-0 (4-1, 5-2) regional quarterfinal win over Thorndale, a 3-1 regional semifinal win over Mason and a 2-1 (0-10, 6-3, 10-2) regional final series win over Refugio. The Lions, 23-7 on the season and Region I Champions, reached this round with a 2-0 (13-3, 15-1) win over Cross Plains, a 2-0 (4-0, 14-0) area round win over McCamey, a 2-0 (15-1, 6-3) regional quarterfinal win over Haskell, a 2-0 (2-0, 5-2) regional semifinal win over Hale Center and a 2-1 (0-8, 7-6, 4-3) regional final win over New Deal.
