However, 3rd year coach Reno Moore, who has seen his share of success in East Texas, is slowly building a quality football team just outside of New Caney and is ready, along with sixteen returning starters, to show a new district 19-4A what the Spartans are capable of. Taking over the duties full time at quarterback will be Devlin Isadore (48-90, 539 yd, 2 TD in 2011). Joining Isadore in the Porter backfield will be junior running back Colton Clark (81 carries, 374 yd, 5 TD in 2011) and Oshua Rothwell (5 carries, 16 yd in limited play in 2011). Receiver Daniel Morrison (13 catches, 183 yd, 2 TD in 2011) will be Isadore's main target. Jacob Clifton, a second team all district pick at offensive guard, will anchor the Spartan offensive line 2012 Defense Returning starters: 9 Experience will also be a great supply on the defensive side of the ball for Porter. Leading the way will be Clark (a second team all district pick) from his linebacker position. Also on the linbacker corp will be juniors Alan Stewart and Steven Cuevas. They'll be backing a line that will include second team all district defensive end Josh Cuellar. The secondary will include senior safety Rufino Romero, sophomore corner Marlin Lewis and junior cornerback Eric Cuevas. 2012 Key Games Porter will start its season a day earlier than most as they travel to Pasadena to take on Rayburn for its season opener on August 30th. The Spartans' season opener will take place on September 14th as they travel to Sheldon to take on C.E. King. Crosby comes to town on November 9th to finish the Porter regular season. But the hearty lad off of Highway 59 in Tarkington will again give all of the effort inside of them. The Longhorns in 2012 will move away from the Slot-T for the Multiple I and possibly other offensive sets and the offense will be lead by sophomore quarterback Hunter Johnson, who along with fellow newcomer, sophomore Alex Latham, junior receiver Cody Jeansonne and senior tight end Jeremiah Taylor look to improve the Tarkington passing game. Hoping to maintain its potency on the ground, the Longhorns return their two leading rushers from last year, senior R.J Nash (683 yd and 8 TD in 2011) and junior Laramie Nash (2nd team all district in 2011). Helping things along will be a veteran front line of seniors Colton LaFrance, Justin Jamail, Andrew Liggins and Nathan Walker. They will be joined by senior Sam Collins. 2012 Defense Defense: 4-3 Returning starters: 5 Tarkington returns five starters from last year's defensive squad. A young defensive line will look to senior Dylon Martin for leadership up front. He will help guide newcomers, junior Tyler Jarboe and sophomores Dallas Dorn and Matt Cates. Senior Steven Soles and junior Ben Frazier lead a linbacker corp which will also include sophomore Gage Dryden. Jeansonne will anchor a secondary that will include Nash as well as sophomores Craig O'Ferrell and Chase Grudzinski. 2012 Special Teams Senior Blake Havard will handle the place kicking for Tarkington while Dryden will take over the punting duties. Nash and Jeansonne will be the primary kick returners. 2012 Key Games Tarkington will begin the 2012 season against Huntington on August 31st. The Longhorns will open 22-3A play by traveling to Cleveland on September 28th. They will host Liberty on November 9th to close the regular season. They were not the original Week 0 team for the Hill. Coach Gage had tentatively scheduled Humble as their Week 0 opponent. However, the UIL threw a huge monkey wrench into that plan on realignment day when they put Humble into 19-4A. That left Coach Gage having to scramble for a new Week 0 opponent which now are the Tigres.
Hope that Mexican flight does not get canceled, we may end up having to whip-up on WOS AGAIN....... ;D ;)
Again? We are still waiting for the first time! -

Unless you are absolutely sure that you do not live near a store which will have the FNF magazine, DO NOT ORDER IT ONLINE. I did that last year, paid a $5 S&H fee and still did not receive my copy for a full two weeks after it had been on the shelves.

Well, I know that Coach Neece is SUPER excited to have Coach Washington aboard as the defensive coordinator and believes that Kirbyville will see a big difference with him calling the defenses.

Okay, it looks like I am going to have to use the clear blunt language again. Every year that SETXsports has posted the SETXsports High School Football Previews, it has used a section apart from the High School Football section. Those that have claimed that this is a new format for the previews know absolutely nothing of which they speak. This marks the 5th consecutive year that SETXsports has done previews in this manner and there has been nary a complaint about it's location until this year. If you are one of the apparently scant few who are seemingly unable or unwilling to master the simple steps of clicking "SETXsports Forum" at the top of the page to get you to the main index and then click on the Previews section, I have still tried to accomadate you! First, I have a thread in this section that has all of the schools previewed to date and the links that will send you directly to the preview thread you desire. Heck! You don't even have to be logged in to SETXsports as links have also been posted on the SETXsports Facebook Account and have been tweeted from the SETXsports Twitter Account! And apparently it has been effective because as of the time I started typing this post, 5453 people had managed to effectively use one of more of the methods above to view one of the previews posted to date! In short, I could give a rats rear end of what threads or polls are put up complaining about the location of the SETXsports High School Football Previews. They have always been in a separate section and as long as I am doing them, unless I am instructed otherwise by the owner of this message board, they will remain in a separate section. For those who can't manage to find their way to them with ALL of the avenues I have provided, then God help you! -

And early in the season, the strain of that transition showed. However, as the season progressed coach and team grew more comfortable, resulting in the Mustangs' first trip to the Regional Finals since 2005. But the Mustangs, buoyed by the return of 13 starters, don't appear to be satisfied. Returning to trigger the offense will be senior quarterback Jimmy Salter (1st team all district, 141-244, 1819 yd, 20 TD; 95 carries, 360 yd, 6 TD rushing in 2011). There will be a bevy of backs looking to replace the graduated Britton Lindsey at running back. Senior Ja'Marcus Rhodes (30 catches, 550 yd, 9 TD in 2011) will be counted on to lead a Mustang receiver corp which will also feature seniors Rashon McDonald (2 catches, 32 yd, 1 TD) and Tramain Anderson, as well as sophomore Deionte Thompson. The Mustangs will boast an experienced offensive line which will feature senior tackles Jerquis Beasley (1st team all district in 2011) and Dylan Brackens, as well as junior center Austin Rutledge. They'll be joined on the line by senior guard Elvis Hubert and sophomore guard Paul Hebert. 2012 Defense Defense: 50 Returning starters: 7 Seven members of the Chain Gang defense which averaged just over 15 points a game return for the 2012 season. Most notably, the Mustangs will again be strong at linebacker as 21-3A Defensive MVP Daniel Woodson returns for his senior year as does 1st team all district linebacker Joe Lynch. They will be supporting a line which will feature senior defensive ends Trayvon Blanchard (1st team all district in 2011), and Colin Janice (1st team all district in 2011) and nose guard Jhayllien Monette (2nd team all district). Spelling them will be senior defensive end Will Moore. Junior Quinton Tezeno (1st team all district) will anchor a secondary that will also include junior Ar'Tevian McDonald. 2012 Special Teams While junior Robinson Cano will handle the point extra attempts, the field goal kicking will likely be handled by Beasley, who hit a school record 8 field goals in 2011. Rhodes will be doing the punting as Tezeno (1st team all district punt returner in 2011) will be the primary kick returner for the Mustangs. 2012 Key Games The Mustangs, after a two year hiatus will renew the "Orange Bowl" rivalry with Little Cypress-Mauriceville to start the season on August 31st followed a visit to the Reservation for the first time since moving to 3A and the first ever visit to the Thomas Center in Beaumont against Central. Hamshire-Fannett will be the first district opponent on September 28th and the Mustangs close the regular season at Silsbee on November 9th. And running is something that the Bulldogs look to do a lot of again in 2012. Leading the way will be senior all district running back Keith Whitely (273 carries, 1,500 yds, 15 TD in 2011). But he certainly won't be the only weapon out of the backfield as junior running back Jonathan Lewis (102 carries, 603 yd, 7 TD) and junior wingback Taejon Wearan (2nd team all district, 69 carries, 500 yards, 3 TD) look to add some added punch. Senior wide receiver Jahvey Mark (8 catches, 85 yd) will figure in the La Porte passing game. And protecting these playmakers will be a Bulldog line that returns all 5 starters, senior center Justin King, senior guards Tony Briones (1st team all district) and Joey Garcia, senior tackle Maurice Morris (1st team all district) and junior tackle Mike Leagan. 2012 Defense Defense: Multiple 3-4 Returning starters: 7 La Porte will return seven starters from the 2011 squad. The Bulldogs have a strong leader in junior linebacker Hoza Scott (1st team all district). He will be supporting line that will feature senior nose tackle Corey Lee (1st team all district) and senior ends Alex Jones (1st team all district) and Mark Guzman (2nd team all district). La Porte also returns a veteran secondary which will include senior cornerbacks Ellis Hutchinson ( 4 interceptions in 2011)and Malik Graves (2nd team all district, 4 interceptions in 2011), as well as junior safety Vic Holmes (2 interceptions in 2011). 2012 Special Teams Senior Eric Medina, a 1st team all district pick who booted a school record 12 field goals (including a school record 55 yarder) in 2011 will return to handle both place kicking and punting duties. Whitely, also a 1st team all district pick as a kick returner, will return kicks along with sophomores Britt Grant and David Terrebonne. 2012 Key games La Porte will open the 2012 season by hosting Clear Brook on August 31st. Baytown Sterling come to town in the Bulldogs' first district 21-5A contest on September 28th. Back on the district schedule is next door neighbor and long time rival Deer Park, who visits on October 19th. The Bulldogs will finish the regular season in a Class 5A, DII regional final rematch in Port Arthur against Memorial.
