I thought teams got new uniforms every year. Maybe I am wrong. If the boys use the same helmets that they use in the scrimmages I think BC has the same helmets as last year. I was told that some of the boys buy their own helmets like the fiasco of the plastic shields last year, but maybe I am wrong on that also.

Boy, I can see potential problems with girls football. I guess they would have to schedule games around boys football because they would have to use the same field and I guess the same field house bucause of proximity of the field/statium etc... maybe like a Saturday afternoon game.

I don't know how good caney creek is but I did see LCM scrimmage. I say LCM because I thought they did well both passing and running. Good QB and fast RB's.

I went to the BC/LCM scrimmage. BC looked good in the controlled scrimmage. Then they played two quarters. I left with about 8 minutes left to play and the score was LCM 15-0. Someone else posted the final as 22-0 LCM. BC did not click on offence or defence very well in the game simulation. LCM looked pretty good. Their size was bigger than BC's and they were much faster. LCM will have a fine team this year. BC is very young and inexperienced and is learning a new offense. I believe they will get better as the year goes on and be able to win some games. Most of their players will return next year so they should be real good then. They passed well and ran well also in the controlled scrimmage. The secondary needs some work.

I agree that the little league season should end a little earlier but only because some of these kids are absent from school until after they are through with the little league season. My wife taught school for 27 years and she said that parents who have kids still involved with baseball when school starts do not enroll their kids until after the season ends. She said that they miss the review that the teachers give the students during the first week or so of school. However, I think the coach is off base on his reasons. This is a once in a lifetime event for these young kids and they should not have to choose one sport over the other. And I also think they should not be punished for it like doing extra sprints or whatever because they didn't choose football. If they are out of shape then make them do whatever will get them ready to start their season. If a baseball-playing football player is placed behind another player in the position he is supposed to be playing it only should be because the other player is better at that positon at that time. If the baseball player gets better than the starter then he should win his position back. I just do not feel that any kid should have to make a decision based on what a football coach wants or what a baseball coach wants. I think the Whitehouse coach needs to be more adult about this.

The Port Arthur News should have one comming out this month also. Theirs covers most all the high school teams in the area, Texans, Cowboys, and some college teams also I think. They will have schedules of all area high school teams as well as the pros. It's a good read.

We will probably know where we are at after the next scrimmage next Thursday against LCM.

I don't know what time the scrimmage was scheduled but could there been some lighting going on that canceled it? There was some bad weather going on in some parts of east Texas.

I strongly think scrimmages are useful. Especially when a team has a new coach or trying to learn a new offense and or defense. A coach can tell more about what he is trying to teach when he sees it in action against another team that may run a different defense than his own. Teams are more interested in winning than trying to work out the kinks in pre district games.
