PNG 24 Bad Guys 21
Make up your mind, akifan...why do you list PNG in your prediction as both the winner and loser?
-
Groves 8TH GRADE "A"
36-12 Over Vidor Gold
4-0 on the season
They have a big one next week against CO Wilson, who is also undefeated at 5-0 after beating Little Cypress last night. Not sure of the final in that one, but it wasn't close. CO Wilson's B team also remained undefeated with a 26-14 win over LC.
-
Keep thinking yall are all that and underestimate our "D" and your QB will be eating alot of turf, and dj? please line it up and run it at him all night
I don't think Nederland underestimates PNG's D, but penny is right...bringing 8 plays right into our hands...PNG may have a good D, but the key will be can PNG cover all 4 of Nederland's wideouts...central brought the heat last week and it didn't work out so well for them; as for dj, if you recall, he played an outstanding game against you guys last year and is playing very well this year; you guys may want to give Grogan some thought as well.
The entire week of MC Madness is almost too much fun; this is by far one of the best rivalries around.

we didn't play the tyler schools two in a row. tyler lee played some out of state team. sorry i count all victories. had we lost to ray and fb,you would have counted them. 6-7.
If you count all victories, then quit trashing evrybody elses schedule.
In all honesty, I think that Se Texas has limited chances to have a state champ this year. It seems that our talent level has waned over the years. In 5a, WB seems to be the frontrunner, 4A, Nederland, 3A, WOS, 2A Newton. It is still VERY early and much football is left to be played, but that is how it looks right now.
BTW, titan, did I almost hear you giving Nederland props? You really are scaring the hell out of me if you did.

Keep talking bullpups,we hit driver 4 time before he got rid of the ball because everything was covered downfield and we picked him for 4 more, plus 3 fumbles dont hurt, like i said in another post an awesome PNG "D" against a great NED "O" epic battle but NDNs walk away with it this year
In light of what the bullpups (Nederland Wilson Jr. High) actually did to PN last week, you may want to stay away from the "bullpup" reference.
-
Congrats Nederland. L Train will stop you soon.
Probably in your best interest to take it one week at a time. It seems to me you guys have 4 other teams you should be worrying about before you worry about Nederland.
-
Should be an epic battle...Dogs 24, PNG 13. The scary part is to look at how many underclassmen Nederland is playing. The future is bright in Nederland.
-
Great win for the Dogs, to say the least. I guess the second guessing is human nature, and for what it's worth I would have rather seen us run at least once on the late 3 and out. However, let's look at that in retrospect. On first down, Nederland rolled Bellow out and was looking for a big play IMO. Central got good pressure on him forcing him to throw the ball away, but Broussard was wide open down the left seam and had Kirby not been under so much pressure and got him the ball, the game would have been over and everyone would be talking about how much they loved the aggressive play call. Just imagine what Lumberton posters would have been saying last week if Credeur's aggressive call of going for 2 had backfired and they lost.
Bottom line is I don't care how it happened, but Nederland just beat a very talented football team on the road, by 2 scores, on their homecoming night no less to get to 2-0 in distict. Central is not going to lose many more games, I'm telling you, unless they let down emotionally. They flat have some serious speed.
Nederland's offensive line is steadily improving and Kirby is really coming into this own. He has a very talented stable of receivers and our run game looks improved since our line is getting a better push. Bass hits holes quickly. Next week is a big one against arch rival PNG, who is also undefeated in district.
In summary, job well done, Dogs and I have to admire Central's fight. They did not pack it in.

CO Wilson B 36 (3-0-1)
Port Neches B 0 (0-1-2)
CO Wilson A 56 (4-0)
Port Neches A 6 (1-2)

8th grade A:
CO Wilson 56
Port Neches 6

I would expect nothing else from you, titan.

Nederland wins this one 21-13 IMO. The game will be closer than many think, but the Dogs prevail. This game seems to be Vidor's Super Bowl every year and they will get up for this game like no other the rest of the season. Vidor really has a strong distaste for Nederland for whatever reason so they view this game as highly important.

8th grade B:
CO Wilson 46
Vidor 14
8th grade A:
CO Wilson 54
Vidor 0
-
8th grade B:
CO Wilson 14
Little Cypress 0
8th Grade A:
CO Wilson 38
Little Cypress 8

It amazes me how many "4.4" kids there seem to be these days. That's world class speed. I am certain that this kid is very fast and elusive, but if you listen to this board, 4.4 guys are a dime a dozen and I somehow doubt the realism of that. It seems to me that everyone's times are a bit exagerated.

What do you want me to say? "Great job RIders"? That's just not a real interesting read when everyone says the same thing. It just seems at some point in the season(like maybe when they were 20-3, they would have stepped it on up to open ball(or whatever it's called at that age)
To be honest, I would have just preferred you say nothing at all. Not sure what the purpose of your comment was in the first place. If it ain't an interesting read to you, then move on to another thread.
For the record, I am not related to or nor do I know any of the kids on this team. I just think they have had a season they can be proud of and I am proud of any local team that can fare well on a broader national or regional scale.
-
Great job, Riders. That's a great run, especially after getting into the loser's bracket early. BTW, West End...there is no AAA in 9U baseball. It's either AA or 9U open. Don't try to dampen the accomplishments of 9 year old kids.
-
I am OK with parents attending practices to watch and observe only. Please, please let the coaches coach. Politicing to get your kid more playing time teaches the wrong message. Kids need to learn that you earn your place in life (not just sports) based on your ability and contribution. Anyway, I doubt that most school coaches worth their salt play kids based on who their parents are.

Is this not the most ridiculous thing ever??? Using this same logic, if I get hurt in a car wreck without my seatbelt on, I should sue the car dealer for not showing me how to put it on.
-
I actually look for Nederland to be much stronger on the defensive side of the ball next year. Alot of talent is coming back plus offensive starter Chris Guiterrez is rumored to be moving to LB. The offense will be the bigger challenge as a great deal of talent is graduating, including Mosley and most of that great OL.
-
That was probably more of a poor choice of words on my part. The consolation survivor did end up playing the championship game loser to see who got second. In this case, Barbers Hill A beat Beaumont to claim the second spot.
-
BH beat LP and then Beaumont to claim second in the major division, so Nederland and BH advance to Nationals.
-
Nederland ends up winning the championship with a 52-40 win over Beaumont. LP and BH were to play to see will face Beaumont for the consolation championship and berth in the national tournament alongside Nederland.
-
Update from Nederland last night. Beaumont manhandled Port Neches, Nederland A beat LaPorte in 2OT to set up a championship match with Beaumont at 1pm today. In the consolation bracket, Nederland B beat Barbers Hill B and Barbers Hill A beat Lumberton by 2. So today, LP gets Nederland B and BH A gets Port Neches.
Who Do You Want To Play In Non District Starting Next Year?

I would definitely like to see the Nederland/WOS series renewed. These games produced soem of the most memorable moments around.
