I'd be shocked if HJ doesn't win this one by at least 25, but HF has shocked me before (namely how well they played silsbee and how poorly they played WOS).
HF didn't play with the intensity they had against Silsbee. Plus Silsbee missed a bunch of easy shots and bad passes. ;)
Correction Blue - Silsbee was only missing their 2nd best player and their head coach which make up the team!  :)
 2.
Temple Dad I'm more that sure the ratings dropped when the story began to air. I know I would have turned the channel or turn the tv off. I'd rather watch my eye lids than a HF story. IMO they cover HF after they have covered every other possible school in the area. After they have covered a BMT Legacy rock paper scissor tourney and Kountze soda can collecting. I more than sure someone from HF called the station and said "hey what about us" and they just put a nice story together for you. Trust me dude, I use to work at Channel 6 and HF was very low on coverage. We would rather film 2 homeless people sleeping under Lucas  than put HF on the news.
OK I lied THIS is my last post...BS if you would rather watch your eye lids than a HF story then why are you on this thread or any thread where HF is mentioned?  Oh, I forgot, you said earlier just to be a thorn in someone's side...LOL 10-4 (that's signing off not an ignorant prediction) LOL...I crack myself up! Thanks for the entertainment all...now I have better things to do.  :)
 3. This will be my last post on this thread because the next post will be someone shocked that there is a 10/11 page discussion on this site involving HF.  But, just like there can be 23 pages of talk on the thread HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs. SILSBEE BROADCAST/SILSBEE WINS 64-56!!! there can be the same amount of talk when it comes to HF.   :o I can't help but notice that it seems to me that Smith's talents have been suppressed this season in order to give everyone "equal playing time".  This is why subbing is so important and momma, BD and myself have talked about it several times here.  Are we subbing equal talent for equal talent or are we subbing to give everyone equal playing time (like Little Dribblers)?  If I remember correctly Smith started almost every game if not every game last year and he was a Freshman. Whether starting or coming off the bench his "gestures will render sweet fruit" (maybe not to give HF a W but even if it's just to know he did his best). Momma - Martin is the player you referred to as "Frenchie".  Funny how you and AAW noticed Smith's talents.  Too bad that if he continues to get the inconsistent playing time he's getting he may get overlooked to be able to move on to another level but I know he will be ok no matter what because no one can ever take nor suppress the book knowledge he has received with the help of the teaching staff at HF.  Yes, he "rises up" in the classroom also.   ;) He, along with several on this HF Varsity team were the ones who put HF back on the map several years ago when HF Little Dribblers started competing at Little Dribblers National Tournaments again after a 13 year hiatus.  As I've said before, I know that there is talent at HF and at this level of play we are not playing Little Dribblers.  There is a lot that happens between Little Dribblers years and High School Varsity years.  Some players develop more, some don't, some lose interest and move on to something they like better.  High School years are the years where you play to WIN not just to be on the team or to collect a paycheck.  If we had teachers at HF who were just there to collect a paycheck we would not be an EXEMPLARY School District.  I believe that it is possible to have both an Exemplary School District and have W's in sports also.  It takes a lot of pieces to complete this puzzle. Like I've said before--I don't say much but when I have something to say I will say it and I WILL have knowledge of what I'm talking about.
 4.

Here you go! Mr PHd. Dude what do you all day? Audit blog sites for spelling? We are so proud that you know how to pick thru blogs and discover misspelled words. When you happen to find one, do you A) Get a scoopy snack B) Clap your hands like a seal or C). Yell YATSI!
Nope-  I just try to be a thorn in the side of anyone who is trying to be a thorn in the side of well intentioned players, parents, coaches.  Can I conclude that your final word was intended to be Yahtzee?
Nash hopefully BS was trying to be a thorn in your side as well with all of that because his A) "scoopy snack" should actually be "scooby snack"  I think he got you!  :D
 5.

I (hfmom) would be brave enough to say "If HF would stop coaching like it's Little Dribblers, we COULD handle Silsbee and anyone else in our district THIS YEAR" that's a more ignorant statement than the predictions made that silsbee would blow out HF.  you're going to brag about a loss against silsbee who was without probably their 2nd best player and their head coach?  they also surely overlooked you guys.  your coach also played not to get blown out, rather than to win (according to BD).  HF may have an outside chance at the playoffs but they're still looking at at LEAST 6 losses in district this year, maybe 7 or 8.
Ignorance - A state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge).  I have nothing to prove to you nor anyone else here but I would have to say you don't know me because I am not at all "uninformed" nor do I "lack knowledge" about the statement that I made and stand by.  Again I say, I'm not beating any chests nor am I bragging about a loss but it seems to me that you are making excuses (silsbee being without "probably" their 2nd best player and their head coach) as most people do after their predictions don't pan out.  Your statement sounds a little "ignorant" because if you have to say "probably" then I would think that is falls under uninformed/lack of knowledge.  If you're so sure of yourself then you would know whether or not whomever you refer to as being the 2nd best player is really the 2nd best player.  If you're going to quote BD then get it right...he stated "the HF staff played to lose and not make it a blowout".  HF staff needs to start "playing to WIN and not make it a blowout" and have confidence in the players they have.  I've been around these players much longer than the HF staff and I know (that's having knowledge) what talent HF has.
sorry i paraphrased that quote... quite ignorant of me to assume you'd understand.  and yes, i'll plead some ignorance as to the best players on silsbee's squad.  i know about them, but not well enough to say who's 2nd or 3rd best behind DC.   if i'm interpreting this statement correctly "I (hfmom) would be brave enough to say "If HF would stop coaching like it's Little Dribblers, we COULD handle Silsbee and anyone else in our district THIS YEAR" then you're saying essentially that HF would be at the top of this district with a different coaching staff.  you can say that that isn't an ignorant statement all you want, but you'd be wrong.  again, HF is certainly improved this year, but they're looking at 2 losses to silsbee, 2 to HJ, probably 2 to WOS, the loss you've already picked up against OF, and that's 7 if they win every other game.  Young Mr. Hunter makes a difference, but he's not going to make that big of a difference just yet.
bullets - Glad to see you can recognize when you are being ignorant (you admitted it twice in just this post). A word from the wise - don't ASSume and there is no need for you to interpret the statement I made--just READ - it's FUNdamental.  I did not say "essentially" that HF would be at the top of this district.  My statement said just what I meant - we (HF) could handle Silsbee and anyone else in our district this year.  Believe me I know that Mr. Hunter makes a difference but it takes more than one player/coach to make a TEAM.
 6.
Who in their right mind would follow HF all season. Most parents who have kids that play for HF don't keep up with them. When is the last time they had a article in the paper or a news segment about HF. Aggie is from a winning school and he follows them. HF will be a winner in some sport here soon. Maybe not this year or next year but soon. Keep that hope alive with moral victories vs Silsbee. When they beat yall by 80 next game don't say I told you so.
BS you really need to check your facts before you post.  Most parents who have kids that play for HF DO keep up with them.  If you're not from HF then how would you know?  Refer to my definition of ignorant which was posted earlier in this thread after a statement I made was referred to as being ignorant.  Don't take it the wrong way - I'm calling your statement ignorant not you as a person.   ::)
 7. 8.
Very good posts, ma'am.    But I must warn you, there is a good chance that your posting of facts may be deemed classless.   Congrats to the Horns on a great effort.  Bluedove and I continually give each other a hard time (all in good fun) but he obviously has the upper hand on me at this point.
Thanks for the compliment and for being so concerned that you feel you need to warn me but no warning needed sir.  Please define classless when someone is stating FACTS?  I understand the purpose of this site and I understand the relationship between Bluedove and many of you on this site and that it's all in good fun.  I don't say much but I'm on this site almost everyday and when I have something to say I will say it (and back it up with FACTS) and those who want to call it classless - so be it. FACTS can be FUN  :)
 9. SHSTIGER - If your comment is in reply to my post - No chest beating going on just shaking the HATERS off and if the shoe fits wear it.  Does it really matter in a game if "you never led"?  IMO - no it doesn't because it's the final score that puts the W on your record.  There's always an excuse, the coach is out sick(and I pray for his speedy recovery), we didn't have one of our best players on the floor(it takes more than one player to make a TEAM).  I've never taken anything away from a talented group of kids and Silsbee has talent and coaching which is what is needed to get the W's.  Unlike lots of people on this site I do give credit where credit is due that's why I don't call it chest beating.
 10. Funny how when your way off predictions about the outcome of the game (which is the topic of this thread) don't come true you all want to change the subject! Keep under estimating HF! We like to come out of nowhere and surprise you non-believers! Just to recap some of the predictions: Silsbee by 30+(AAW) - NOT  :D Tigers by 56(BS) - NOT  :D Tigers 107, Horns 47(bullets) - NOT  :D FITS you predicted the statement made by bullets would be the halftime score - NOT  :D 4 dunks and win 88-53(another BS prediction) - NOT(only 1 dunk attempted and it was missed/blocked)  :D Tigers by 65! 115-50(yet another BS prediction) - NOT  :D Tigers will win by 30+(consistent prediction from AAW) - NOT  :D Silsbee 78-HF 51(ANOTHER BS prediction) - NOT  :D Silsbee a 39 point favorite(a local basketball guru's prediction according to AAW) - NOT  :D If I was from silsbee I def. wouldn't be worrying about HF(Abraham) - YOU SHOULD WORRY YOU ONLY WON BY 7  :o Then after all of the way off predictions are made, let the GOLF talks begin???  Like tsg said--make a page for it! But now at almost 1am it's silent...well out of 10 predictions 0 were correct I would say that's a bad average (0 of 10) if you were playing golf or any other sport.   And BadSanta (BS fits)..you're full of it.  You went from Silsbee by 56 to Silsbee by 35 to Silsbee by 65 to Silsbee by 27 not to mention your dunk prediction...BS give it up!  :D Winner of the best statement on this thread: BLUEDOVE - If HF would stop coaching like it's Little Dribblers, we will be able to handle Silsbee next year. I (hfmom) would be brave enough to say "If HF would stop coaching like it's Little Dribblers, we COULD handle Silsbee and anyone else in our district THIS YEAR" Way to go HORNS!  In my eyes you could be 3-0 right now in district play with the way you are showing up and showing out.  Keep your heads up and always be proud to come out and show your face as long as YOU know you did YOUR best and gave it YOUR all!  ;)  ;D
 11. Any suggestions/information?  Camps that aren't a waste of time/money/scams -- Suggested workout programs?
FanintheStands i have to give it to you..your statement "Varsity ball is talent AND coaching" may be the best statement i've seen on this board in a long time!  I won't even ask if you're referring to any one team in particular.  :-X
 14. Congratulation to the HF Horns for winning 2nd place in this tournament.   The Horns worked hard for redemption and despite doubters and unbelievers, yes, they did beat Orangefield to move into the championship game.  I did not attend the game where the HF lost to Vidor and only scored 15 points so I can not say what happened in that game but the score was unbelievable.  After this being the third time that HF and Vidor have been matched up I have had plenty of time to see that Vidor is not a team that HF could not beat or compete with.  Not to mention they will meet again on this coming Tuesday at HF. Just to show how this game went: 15 18 - Vidor end of first 27 37 - Vidor at the half 46 49 - Vidor end of third 56 72 - Final Vidor wins - reason gap widened IMO - some players giving up and not playing defense, subs, Vidor's outside shooting, HF fouling to get the ball back but not capitalizing on that (missed easy shots - lay ups) jacobmccandles - "Vidor is a powerhouse"...hopefully you were being sarcastic because I would not consider them a "powerhouse" if they are winning championships at 1a or 3a tournaments.  Why is Vidor not competing in 4a or 5a tournaments if you are considering them "powerhouse"?   So, to all you doubters and unbelievers, as I've said before on this site regarding any sport when it comes to HF the talent is there and the talent can compete with and/or beat many teams out there if the talent is used to it's fullest potential.  It's not being done and that's the problem.  The blame is not to be laid on any one person, player, coach, parent, culture, etc...there are many issues that need to be addressed. Glad to see HF supporters (other than parents) out to support the team.  Hopefully this means that there is some concern over what is going on with our program.   Even a Vidor fan commented at the game that he notices every time HF makes a run subs are made and the gap widens.  Many people know of the issues that HF face but these are not the people who can make a change happen so hopefully one day HF will realize that at this level we are no longer playing little dribblers and having to qualify every player on the team. Keep up the good work Horns...you have many supporters!
 15. from hf dad. thats why it is like that now not expected to win, they competed this summer and they enjoyed playing together right now i dont see that excitement on there faces alot of in fighting the mentallity is freshman,jv,varsity it should be one program thats what i  dealt with during the summer and we worked through that but i see that it is back and should not be tolerated but it is. because no matter who is on the court they should be able to play together thats where coaching chemistry comes into play knowing strengths and weaknesses of your players and dont ask them to play out their roles and abilities.
 16. this is not from hf mom its from hf dad. if i'm correct the coach picked team captin not the players. respect is earned not given.to be polite in summer ball in which i set on the side line with said players all started the summer season, and all but one finished not sayings names just stating facts its not chemistry its just choices and that does not make it right. it works at hf because it is excepted and it is time for change.
 17.
Blue Helmets  >:(  Bring back the gold Great Pics though.
horndawg--do you think that the blue helmets are create a bad vibe for us?  Is that what's wrong...if so lets bring back the gold helmets for sure!  lol (but not really laughing--i want to WIN!)
 18. Thanks for the link.  If you are the one taking these pictures (or whoever is) GREAT job and thanks for getting GREAT pics of both teams.
 19. I heard of this news at 10:05pm tonight as my son was on the football field in Hamshire.  Shocked and in disbelief.  Prayers go out to the family, friends and those who witnessed such a terrible tragedy.  One of your greatest fears especially as a mom.  I know that the HF football team dedicated some time in the locker room to pray for Reggie Garrett after their game which was very impressive.  It's not easy but we all know he passed away doing what he loved. RIP QB.
 20. No sir you win some and you lose some and you build from that but i see you are taking notice and thats a good start. HF will win
 21. Somone from HF mentioned that nobody thought coach V would come to EC that was my point...0-10 is as bad as it gets for h.s. football thats all I have to say about that
And yes you have a point 0-10 is as bad as it gets at any level, in any sport but it still doesn't mean there is a catastrophe.  IMO it means all the pieces have to be put in place and that's all I have to say about that.
 22.
So changing to a new AD will solve HF's problems on the field and court???
Only making that change?  No.
 23.

A lot of people thought that Coach Valastro going to Winnie was a dream also. What a dump. ;D
Look at what he picked up by coming to EC look at the catastrophe in HF
Bucof2010 -- Coach Valastro didn't have to do much coaching when he got to EC.  The talent that was there was already there and Tramaine Thomas was leading it.  The kids that were there had been playing together before Valastro arrived.  What exactly did he pick up by coming to EC and what does that have to do with what you call "the catastrophe in HF"?  I would not be so quick to call what's going on at HF a catastrophe.  It was just stated today that the last time Nederland had a post season win was when Dwight Eienshower was President so does that mean Nederland has been a catastrophe?  I think it's called a slump not a catastrophe.
 24.
Need to bring somebody new into the program, not a coach that has been there before or is already there.
Mangan was new in the program, not a coach that had been there before and not from anywhere in the area and look where that got him -- so what's your next suggestion?  We've had coaches from in the area, out of the area, promoted from within(been there before), and already there.  This has been said before -- The problem lies deeper and yes the school board, community, parents and kids will all need to recognize the real problems at HF before we see improvement/success no matter who is there.   All sports under the athletic program need support from all of those mentioned above.  I attended basketball games at WOS, HJ and Orangefield where community, parental and peer support was present.  I attended basketball games at HF(HOME GAMES) where the cheerleaders were not dressed out and cheering on their team (peers).  I do understand that the sponsor had a baby during the basketball season but was no one else able to step in and be a co-sponsor? I could go on but my whole point is many things need to change, get with the program, HF is being left behind in athletics.
 25. HAHA bullets13 you're right....no way he's 5'6" HAHA
