  1. Rumor has it that there will be a 3A level of soccer within the next couple of years... rule says that you need at least 100 teams for the UIL to add that division in a sport, and there are currently around 80-90 teams i believe in 3A.. and if they were to add a 3A i believe that several 2A teams would add soccer teams because they would then be able to play up at the 3A level. I know Kirbyville would for sure have one even if they dropped to 2A, Kountze used to have a soccer team when they were 3A, but were forced to drop it after going to 2A

the secondary from lst year couldnt cover someone 2 save there lives. nick mccown did lead the team in tackles he was a monster at safety and was the most athletic on the field but still couldnt cover someone and you cant say im wrong. the only problem is our d line and there getting there stuff together. the whole secondary this year and linebackers run 4.9s-4.5 and they are most athletic than last years. i think this year the defense will be better hands down at the run and pass. alot of people is gonna underestimate HJ this year. jus wait and see.

I agree.. There is some talent in this years Sr/Jr class that can fill some spots.. they can all play, just gotta step up and compete.. Who will be filling in the missing D-line spots? Ames will be the only returner at DE, lost some big guys on the DL Sechler, Leger, and Brown.. and the LB core was very talented last year as well, Walters, Michelle, Ainsworth, and Corbello got their jobs done.. but there are some guys like Walker, Anderson, Taylor that could fill those spots and they will be good there.. Secondary could be good this year, got the athletes to fill those spots, but McCown is a big loss.. Not saying it isn't possible for this years defense to be good, just lost ALOT of guys that could play.. some of the new guys gotta step up and fill in

HJ lost alot of seniors true. but most of the returners and people coming up is more athletic and more physical than most seniors last year(the big loss was turner-RB and venable -QB). HJ is returning all recievers from last year and i think they have the RB situation locked down. the defense will be better than it was last year especially the 2ndary.

Last years Senior Class was very athletic.. I dont think that the defense will be better.. You lost 3 Defensive linemen, The whole LB core, and your whole Secondary.. 5 of those started since they were sophmores.. Nick McCown - Safety led the team in Tackles, Luke Walters LB a close second both were Seniors.. You only have one returning starter, and a few players that got some PT last year, but i dont see the defense being better than last years..

According to DCTF, these are how many returning letterman and starters each team has for this coming season:

                           Letterman        Starters O/D

    Bridge City             16                    7/5
    Hamshire-Fann        19                  10/9
    Hardin-Jefferson      12                   6/4
    Orangefield             13                   5/6
    Silsbee                  15                    8/7
    WOS                     20                    6/7

All this time, I thought the Mustangs had 19 returning starters. ;) ;D

I guess that's what I get for taking the word of a certain LCM grad. ;) ::)

Idk exactly what the requirements are to be counted as a Returning Starter are, but the usual starting defense for HJ last season consisted of 10 seniors and 1 junior
  5. US should win.. And as long as they win they advance I believe.. Regardless of the Slovenia/England game, a US win would advance them to the knockout round..

IMO after FIFA investigates the game, Finley should be allowed to play.. That "hand ball" yellowcard should not keep him out of this game, because that referee was not prepared for the speed of a world cup game
  6. From what i understood he did not call offsides.. It was a call by the Referee, not the Assistant (offside ref), that called the goal back, but the Ref would not say what the call was.. there did not appear to be any foul committed by the US..

Also the "Hand Ball" call on Finley in the first half that the ref gave him a yellow card for was awful.. The ball hit Finley in the face and he was yellowcarded and will now miss the game against Algeria because of that..

a relatively boring day today.  two weak teams tie 1-1, IC vs. Portugal ends 0-0 in a game with about 2 good scoring chances the whole game, and at this point, at least, N. Korea has held Brazil 0-0 through 50 minutes.  That last fact is pretty impressive considering that Brazil is #1, and N. Korea #105 in the world...

Ronaldo had one very nice shot that glanced off the post..

It seemed like North Korea was playing a very defensive game, had the entire team back on defense several times.. looked like they were mainly just trying to slow down Brazil.. which they managed to do for the majority of the game.. The first goal for Brazil by Maicon seemed to be just very lucky.. looked like he meant it as a cross and it just happened to go straight.. North Korea had a few other chances to score.. I was impressed with North Korea because as you said they are #105 and Brazil is #1
  8. When was the last time HJ was predicted to finish anything other than 5th or 6th? and HJ has only finished that low once in the past 4 years...

    09-10 season - 4th place finish
08-09 season - 3rd place finish - bi district playoffs
    07-08 season - 5th/6th place finish
06-07 season - 3rd place finish - bi district playoffs

Not sure yet on if Q Evans will play football this season.  Alot depends on how his summer baseball goes, but if I had to guess right now, I doubt he plays football.  Can't really blame him, he will more than likely get a D1 baseball scholarship.  This has been a problem at Orangefield the past few years, some of the better athletes in the school dont play football.  Its hard for a school the size of Orangefield to compete in football when some of the better athletes dont play.

    HJ and Basketball.. I understand..

good analysis, Chocolate, except i'd only give Australia a 20% chance of escaping their group.

Who do you see taking the second place if Australia doesn't?? Slovenia or Ghana? I'd Say Germany is by far the favorite to win the Group, but IMO Australia will more than likely take the second place
