Huntsville-Dayton was over at halftime last year.  Might be closer this year, but my money is still on the Hornets.

Actually, I was looking forward to the Huntsville-Ozen rematch from last year that went 58-57 Ozen. 

That was Dayton's last win for this season.

[/quote]Exactly.  Huntsville won the prior 2 years' district games when Justin Gilbert was QB.  I don't see Huntsville making the playoffs next year in this new district.  New Caney and Porter are no longer around to pad the win totals.

Well, Huntsville doesn't have to wait until the playoffs anymore to get drilled by Montgomery.  They can get that over in the regular season.

I agree.  It's not going to happen.  Any team that can defeat Carthage and Gilmer back to back has my vote. 

This one is going to be a shoot-out.  Aledo averages 56 points/game and Manvel isn't too far behind.  I'm leaning towards Aledo.  Manvel needs to jump on them early and make them play catchup.

Nursing a one-point lead in the fourth quarter, Chapel Hill forced Alvarado into three turnovers on the Indians' final three drives as the Bulldogs claimed the Class 3A Division I state championship with a 20-19 victory on Friday at Cowboys Stadium. This playoff run was pretty amazing for Chapel Hill.  LaVega, Navasota, West Columbia, and now Alvarado all took their shots but came up short.  Obviously, it was meant to be for Tyler Chapel Hill as they pulled out at least 3 of these games when it looked like they would certainly lose.

Lake Travis is 73-3 over the last 5 seasons.  Reminds me of Southlake Carroll's 5 year run of 79-1 from 2002-2006.  So, the smart money is still on Lake Travis. 

I think Argyle wins State over Coldspring. 

Wow.  I didn't realize that.  If it wasn't for J. Gilbert, they would be zero wins for 20 years.  I still remember when they were USA Today #1 in the nation around 1991.  Coach Joe Clements retired about 20 years ago after his youngest son finished, and the program tanked right after that.   

Regarding Justin Gilbert at Huntsville High, he was the starting QB in 2008 and 2009 when Huntsville played in Brenham's district.  Huntsville went undefeated in district in 2008, but then somehow managed to lose to Lockhart in the 1st round.  In 2009, they lost just one district game (to Brenham).  Defeated Hays Consol in the 1st round before losing to Beaumont Central in the 2nd round 28-24.  They should have beaten Central.  Gilbert also ran kicks back, and when he hit the open field, he was long gone.  Speed was ridiculous.  Tune in tonight and watch him run kicks back for OK State.
