  1. It is pretty funny to listen to people talk about scheme and how important it is. If you have the athletes, any scheme can be successful. The key is not the scheme, but rather the ability to coach it, make adjustments and the ability of play callers. Every scheme has the ability to run the ball and the opportunity to throw it. Really, it is all about the ability and willingness to call the plays and when to call them. Plenty of pass plays in the wing-t and slot-t playbooks. Coaching matters, but if you don't have the DUDES......
  2. How many coaches does Breaux get to bring with him? How many must he retain? How good are the ones he will be forced to retain? How good are the coaches he is going to be able to attract to Orangefield?
  3. All Athletes, male or female, benefit from proper strength training. If the Athletic Director is not making sure ALL Athletes are being properly trained in the area of functional strength then they are doing a disservice to the athletes.
  4. Lots of teams wear white gloves at home and dark gloves on the road, it's very normal.
  5. Exactly I'm obviously not the voice of all coaches, but the opportunity to build something sustainable is the greatest measure of a coach. Winning one is impressive. But, creating a long-term, winning culture that wins consistently and has the opportunity to win multiple State Championships is what all coaches want. The opportunity to stay in one place and CREATE a program that others are measured against is what it's all about.
  6. Yes, yes we are. He's not bad. He's got a whole lot of his DAD in him. He will definitely let you know about it when he does something right,
  7. FWIW, Randy Rowe is on staff at Coldspring Oakhurst and his son is a Sophomore QB that started 4 or 5 games this year.
  8. Who was the guy who picked Coldspring to win the District Championship?
  9. Yes, unless expectations have gotten out of hand in Orangefield I don't see any reason to leave.
  10. I can guarantee you your District 9 prediction will be wrong.
  11. Who did North Shore hire as their new Offensive Coordinator?
  12. I don't think so. Hearing Nac is in on a SETX head coach though.
  13. Kirbyville is looking for an Offensive Coordinator, so I assume Larry is no longer there. Would be a good spot for a guy like Larry.
  14. What's your list? Who wants this job? Best player is transferring.
  15. Hasn't been "awarded" anything. Verbal offers are non binding and may not be committable when the time comes.
  16. I'm not going to put a number to the wins and loses, but the biggest hurdle that faces the new coach is developing toughness, mentally and physically. Especially if he going to run the double wing. Tarkington has been in some form of the spread for 3 years now and the results have not been stellar, but the one thing they have lacked since Stan Howard left is toughness.
  17. Taylor is a good coach and a good dude, he will definitely get the most out of those kids if they will let him. He will bring a level of toughness to Tarkington that has been missing for a while. It make take a while, but.......
  18. Tarkington going to the double wing.
  19. None for golf and tennis, because you see talent in those sports at a very early age and the parents just move to Highland Park or wherever before those kids get to high school. Football, basketball and baseball talent does not show up for certain until 8th grade and by then it is too late for some to move and play Varsity as a freshman. Is Crueder the guy?
  20. She was actually the Girls Athletic Coordinator....... If that gives anybody a clue as to her real identity.
