  1. I would venture to guess that the they weren't playing that tough of a schedule.
  2. EC struggles a little on defense, but the defensive game plan may be as important as the players against Woodville. If EC can get everybody in the right place at the right time then they have a chance to keep this one close. If they are not spot on when it come to being gap sound then Woodville will score at will. EC does not have the dudes to stop Woodville, they have to play perfect defense. Now on the other side of the ball, EC has an experienced and potent offense. Woodville will have to deal with all the motion and backfield action to stop the Bucs. EC also throws the ball early and often and Woodville may struggle against the pass. I think the key to EC keeping this one close is the play of the EC QB. If he makes good decisions and runs the ball some to keep the defense honest then it will be a game.
  3. You do good work. Hope the move works out for you. Best of luck.
  4. I don't think so. I think it just the 10 day waiting period necessary for all transfers. If a school does not offer a sport and you transfer to the nearest geographical school that offers that sport, there is not a 1 year requirement. I think.
  5. Whole different story now. This will be as bad as the Dawgs want it to be. The worst part is it will be a physical beat down for the Lions. They will be battered and bruised coming out of this one.
  6. Neither team has really been tested, Huffman is the best team on either schedule so far. But, both teams are physical so it should be close early on. I just think Diboll is too talented. Diboll and Franklin will be one heck of a game. Looking forward to that one.
  7. Chert vox'mi nyet, nyet zagovora.
  8. I tend to agree with you. looking at Diboll's schedule though, they have not played anybody that is really smash mouth like Liberty. It may take them a quarter or so to adjust to the physical nature of the Liberty offense.
  9. 1. Crosby 2. Diboll 3. Evadale/Deweyville 4. Vidor 5. Shepherd 6. Huffman Hargrave 7. Jasper 8. Concordia Lutheran 9. Huntington 10. Silsbee 11. Danbury 12. Beckville 13. Mexia 14. Joaquin 15. 10. I'm thinking I need to go to Vegas or visit one of our local betting parlors.
  11. Yes, very reliable source. i think they said ACL.
  12. This one played out about like most predicted. Good game reps for the future, but for the here and now PNG needs Shug back to make any kind of splash this season.
  13. I heard he was having surgery and would be out for the season. He may have more speed than McMillian, but they are both next to impossible to tackle with one man. This will be a physical match up and the difference in the game will be in the ability of the QB's to hit open receivers. Diboll should win this one because of their ability and willingness to throw the ball.
  14. Is Orangefield that good this year, or is Shepherd down? Very impressive win for the Bobcats.
  15. I heard that HF is having trouble with all the things they are trying to do on offense. A friend of mine who was at the game told me that HF played a number of plays with 10 men and that the receivers are rarely set when the ball is snapped. He said that in his opinion the referees should have called illegal procedure on the Longhorns more than 20 times.
  16. I would say the Houston 4A and the Ft. Worth (if there are still any) would be worse. But, you are correct in that this District is rather weak. If it were tea or coffee, i wouldn't drink it.
  17. I'm a product of the '80's as well. And there may not have been as many FREAKS then, as there are today, but they were still around. And at that time, Daingerfield had more than their fair share of them. Very similar to the abundance of riches that Newton has now. The difference between then and now is that the best played both ways, all the time. And, there was a much bigger emphasis placed on defense.
  18. You obviously never saw that Daingerfield team play. Go back and look at the scores. See if you can find some video of them. That team was as athletic as Newton is now, they were some FREAKS. They gave up 8 points all season. That's 16 games. And if I'm not mistaken the touchdown was a pick 6 or set up by an interception. And the other 2 points was an intentional safety.
  19. Seeing the scores of both of their games against Livingston, i would say they are very comparable. Similar offensive philosophies, both team want to run the ball primarily. Orangefield is probably a little bit more physical, but Shepherd is not soft by any means. There will be some big plays. but for the most part it will be a grind it out game. Special teams may make the difference in who wins or loses this one. Obviously, penalties and turnovers could also have a huge impact.
  20. Ok, good luck, I really do hope it works out for you like you see it.
  21. And it is not like they are playing up in classification either, schedules are average at best.
  22. No reason why the can't.
