  1. Represents the feelings of many.
  2. You are very right my fine Sir, Life is Politics. It has never been and never will be about WHAT you know or WHAT you can do. It is and always will be about WHO you know and WHO you chew bubble gum with. My time in Livingston has passed with a number of fond memories and some life long friendships. One day in my more golden years, I might run for the school board and see if I can be a voice of change. There are a number of factors that went into the School Boards decision and they are well within their rights to hire whomever they choose. I know for a fact that a certain faction of the board holds a personal vendetta against Randy Rowe and anybody ever associated with him, which is truly sad.
  3. I have a little bit of insight into this situation, and I can guarantee you NOBODY won with the group of Senior that is graduating. The best football player in that class was the head coaches kid. There were a few lineman that were average to above average, but zero skilled players that ever had an impact. The Juniors had moderate levels of success through junior high and attrition won the battle in high school. Some of the best players from this class quit football for one reason or another. Now the Sophomore and Freshman classes should be better, if they can keep the numbers up. These two groups had good success at all levels coming up. From my understanding, speed has been the biggest problem plaguing the program. Other that the Mitchell kid (move in from Coririgan) there has been little to no speed in the program recently and currently. The kids who were moderately fast at younger levels have been caught and passed by their opponents or have quit football all together. Because of this lack of speed, a greater importance has bee placed on increasing speed and quickness in off season to the detriment of strength. Being slow and weak is a bad combination. Broussard tried to make a splash after his first year by getting rid of the entire coaching staff, and he has been unable to hire good coaches since. Just look at the turnover during his tenure and you will come to the conclusion that there is something wrong with his leadership skills.
  4. I will be more than happy to. And, I won't say which Coach on the Livingston staff said it, but had one tell me that we (Livingston) aren't good enough to beat Huntington. I will let that simmer until September.
  5. Name the 6 wins. And I know your first two will be Shepherd and Huntington, don't count you chickens before they hatch. Not beating Liberty or Jasper. Splendora and Huffman are better programs right now. Bridge City is probably the only guaranteed win in District.
  6. Who doesn't graduate until the second summer session and goes to coaching school and can't get a job.
  7. It really comes down to how committed the Superintendent and the School Board are to the process of hiring a Head Coach and how "SECURE" they are with their position. People with leadership skills easily recognize those with the same skill set. If the Superintendent of school Board President is a "REAL" leader then they should be able to pick out a great leader through the interview process.
  8. I would say that the depth and experience should be above a "typical" 6A program considering you are combining two 5A programs from last year. However, I would also suggest caution, because having depth, means that some kids that may have been starters in the recent past are going to have to accept backup or limited roles. Are all of these kids willing to put their ego aside for the betterment of the team? Are these kids going to compete every day to play or are they going to pout and whine about not getting to start? This is why coaching is so important in this unusual scenario.
  9. He does have a plan, and a challenge. He has taken over at Diboll (2-8 1st year) and Angelton (5-5 first year) as May hires and not been real successful right out of the box. Same way in Ft. Worth and Seminole and Tomball Memorial. Seems that is takes a couple of years to get the program moving in the right direction. I will go out on a limb and predict a 4-6 finish, but he will get them in the playoffs by beating Bridge City.
  10. It is a POLITICAL decision, made by a School Board that can't get out of their own way. I'm sure Vanover is a great coach, I've been told he is. But, is he going to establish something that can last? Can he relate to the kids?
  11. Oh, you mean it would require the Superintendent and the School Board to do some due diligence and actually delve into an applicants character and vision. To decipher if this person has a plan for success. To figure out if he has the ability to lead a coaching staff and group of young men with respect. To decide if an applicant has the character necessary to earn the respect of his fellow coaches, administrators and players. You mean the School Board and the Superintendents are lazy, they don't want to do their jobs and they don't have the GUTS to make tough decisions?
  12. I know this topic comes up on a regular basis, especially during the spring when coaches are being hired. But, why are school district so insistent on hiring retreads? Guys that have been Head Coaches, but have consistently proven that they can NOT win. This to me is asinine, college and NFL teams have moved in the direction of hiring Coordinators who have had success. High Schools need to follow suit.
  13. That is good to hear, I hope they are competitive from get go.
  14. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  15. I could care less about the props, but thanks. I was just being a JA.
  16. Any discussion about the job at last nights school board meeting?
  17. Not that I have seen and no special school board meetings set to conduct interviews. Was anything discussed last night at the school board meeting or did they just canvass election results?
  18. I know we all respect Matt Stepp, but I reported this a couple hours ago.
  19. If he gets the Livingston job he better care about baseball and all girls sports. Because that is all a lot of the locals care about. If Livingston wants a long term solution he is the best choice.
  20. True, very true. And Bubba is a Cleveland graduate, if I'm not mistaken. Heard he got fired for buying and wearing Black uniforms, is that true? Special school board meeting tonight at 6:30, decision should be made today.
  21. That's an impressive and mature comment, I'm sure your mother is proud. Just a coach, who IMO, was a victim of politics last time this job was open and deserves the job. Now back to your Fhineas and Ferb viewing.
