Level of competition, meaning in the right classification for the talent you have?

Nail hit squarely on the HEAD. NO coach wins championships of any kind (District, Regional, State) without some high level talent. NO teams wins championships without a high quality coach and staff, regardless of the quality of talent. It is a marriage, both parties might NOT be EQUAL, but it takes both of them to make it successful.

How many of the 170 will be Seniors? How many does he plan on keeping on Varsity? Are they going to play a JV and a Soph schedule? Will they have 3 Freshman teams?

I don't think hiring a good HEAD coach is going to be a problem. The problem is probably going to be getting good assistants at this late date. But, if Livingston hires who they should, then he will be able to assemble a decent staff his first year. The biggest problem is implementing offensive and defensive changes with only 2-a-days to do it.

So very true. The concept that the name on the "FRONT" of the jersey is more important than the name on the back of the jersey, is completely foreign to today's players..

This is second hand information, but from what I have been told all of the speed has graduated. Now there may be some speed walking the halls, but none in off-season

While Kam Fields was pitching all they talked about was 2-sport athletes. Keith Moreland (commentates on UT baseball) played both football and baseball at Texas. College Baseball coaches love the kids that play both football and baseball. High School baseball coaches should be encouraging their players to play both football and baseball, trust me, I do.

Not the same quality of athletes they have had in the past. That group from 2006-2011 was special. There were multiple D1 kids on those teams. None of those hanging around anymore.

Not sure how much thought went into it, but one head represents Central, another represents Ozen and the one staring you down represents "UNITED."

I guess you conviently missed the "Third Base" coach taunting the Jasper dugout after the home run, but that's ok. We will see hoe this series turns out. Two completely different teams from last year.

They will get a very good football coach, if the School Board can come to the right conclusion this time and not screw it up. There are a number of VERY qualified and high quality coaches who want this job. They are former Livingston assistants who want to be in Livingston and can get the program turned in the right direction. The coaches I am talking about are dang good coaches and know what it take to be successful in Livingston.

Jasper is very good and I think "REVENGE" is a word being spoken repeatedly in Jasper. If they can, the Bulldogs will beat the Tigers as bad as they can. These two do not like each other and the antics from Silsbee last year may come back to bite them this year.

You are probably right, not a lot of Devonte Mays type kids around Livingston anymore.

Is the new track/soccer complex going to have turf? Glad you are happy with what is going on in Livingston, because accepting below average is why they are in the position they are in right now.

It's just sad that the town has so little respect for football. The NEW high school is amazing, but the original bond package had a stadium/natatorium/baseball/softball complex included, but it got voted down. The town of Livingston has very little respect for athletics and football in particular. Good luck to the Lions, hope they hire the right guy this time. Because Broussard was a complete and total failure.

I don't think the "Five Guys Burger" founder is going to coach in Livingston. He may have been the last great straight on kicker, but Mark does not have anything to do with Livingston anymore. If he did, you would think he would make a donation to help them build a NEW STADIUM, because that place is garbage!!
