    This year has been one exciting season around all Classes of VB.

    Some great teams all around our area and the ability of the smaller schools to compete can only make all teams better.

    It is really great to see the 2A and 3A schools schedule some of the 1A schools it really makes for some great volleyball action.

    Some really great rivalries have been formed and a lot of great friendships made.

    Congratulations to all the classes of volleyball teams and coaches in our area on your seasons and good luck in the playoffs.

    whatever happened to winning and losing. Yes they will be declared tri-champs by UIL technicality, but I guarantee you the teams will know who won the district in reality by how the 3 way playoff comes out. Give the teams some credit, they can accept winning and losing. If they couldnt they wouldnt participate in athletics. Everyone wants everybody to feel warm and fuzzy but guess what in athletics just as in life their is success and yes even sometimes we fail. Picking yourself up after losing is what is important in life and learning how to handle defeat as well as victory is just as important.

    Sorry but the UIL wants everyone in the playoffs and everyone to feel great and eventually we wont even keep score to see who wins and loses. Again, sorry, but not everyone wins in life and our kids need to be taught to try to win as hard as they can, but also that sometimes their is a team or an individual that is just a little bit better at something than you are. SO WORK HARDER......

  5. Senior night at Evadale

    Honored before their game with Hull-Daisetta, Lorne Anders,Lona Nichols,Marenda Block,Carolyn and Kristen Gregory, and Megan Toms all Senior volleyball players for The Lady Rebels, saw their night end in a 3 set victory and a piece of the District 23A title.

    Following a coin toss to see who will get the bye, three teams Goodrich,West Hardin and Evadale will have a playoff to determine the seeding for the UIL tournament.

    All three teams finished District play with 6-1 records. Goodrich def. Evadale, West Hardin def. Goodrich,

    and Evadale def. West Hardin.

    Congrats to the Lady Rebel Seniors,Coach Hollyfield and Coach McAdams on a great season 21-4 and good luck in the playoffs.

    Special thanks to Shelby,Amber and Kayla for all your help.

    Evadale resumed its volleyball program in the old gym while major repairs will be needed in the new gym.

    Looked like the team isnt in need of major repairs as they picked up right where they left off before Hurricane Ike. Three straight vs Spurger who we might add was kind enough to make the trip and play an unscheduled game just to give both teams the work. Spurger also with a very good team this year and trying to keep the team playing as opponents are hard to find now that district has started for all the other classes. The district will begin Oct. 7 for both teams and trying to find teams to play in the meantime has been difficult.

    Our thoughts to all those who are suffering from the effects of Ike.

    sorry i should have mentioned that the games forfeited were due to teams having to evacuate for GUSTAV.  Didnt mean to mislead anyone both teams were willing to play just wasnt in their best interest and by all means it was for their safety. Might also mention what a great job Coach Wilkins did in managing to finish the tourney with all the adjustments she had to make to the bracket and Coach the lady cougars too.

    Job well done...........and congrats to the lady rebels of Evadale. They are a very interesting class 1A team making a lot of noise with the bigger schools.
