If refs called all the fouls in a game today we would be at a game for 3 hours. Look folks whats happening to basketball is it is a contact sport. The UIL, Refs, and too many football coaches coaching basketball has changed the sport for the worst. You will just have to live with the non calls in basketball until the UIL gets more games like the Silsbee/WOS game to wake them up and tell officials to start calling the game the way it is supposed to be called. Three refs have made the game worse and its a waste of money because now you have three out there not calling anything. You can go to any boys or girls game in this area and see the same thing. Pushing, slapping, over the back, reach in used to be fouls. Now you almost have to be sent to ER to get a foul. Officiating and the UIL are ruining basketball. Just my opinion and I love the game. >

I wondered when this was going to happen. I posted an article not long ago about Chicago schools playing on Saturday afternoon in closed gyms because of fights on the court. Lets get real for a moment. The problem isnt with the kids or coaches although all involved out to be suspended along with the coaches for allowing players off the bench. Look the UIL needs to have meeting with all Officials chapters and get them to start calling the game tighter. In other words playing basketball instead of football. Just because the NBA has gotten so rough doesnt mean we should lose sight of how to teach the game to these kids. Tighten up the game and let the fouls flow and I guaranty you the coaches will adjust along with the players and we can get back to watching basketball. Of course this has to be statewide in order to level the playing field. That would take some work by the UIL(the worst Highschool org. Ive ever seen) On a lighter note, I went to a fight the other night and a basketball game broke out. ;D

as a former official let me get my 2 cents worth. The game has changed and the style of play is now more rough than ever. We are losing the fundamental things in the game of basketball because of what officials see happening in colleges and in the pros. It all filters down. I have always felt if an official isnt sweating he isnt doing the job. 3 officials arent necessary. They let go just as much as two officials do. Its a waste of money. : I have just two gripes about todays officiating. (1)Officials who go to the scorers table and ask what the foul count is on each team. They dont need to look at the scorebook after they sign it before the game starts.(2) Dont be in such a hurry to get home. Call the fouls dont worry about keeping the clock running. A well officiated game should still take only 1 hour or less. Hustle the game up. Make players run to the foul lane for free throws. If you walk up and down the court so will the players.

I would suggest everyone be careful going in to Evadale. They are starting to buy in to the new system and becoming very competitive. Walk light those return beating are coming I guarantee it...... ;D

Let me tell you where this is headed from experience. In the Chicago area sporting events became so hostile that they moved the events to Saturday afternoon. Some even had closed games open to players and coaches only. I know that sounds extreme but when the UIL keeps a pulse around the state of what is going on and they feel an injury or violent occurence may happen and that dreaded word (LAWSUIT) pops up, they will take action. Lets look at the real problems. Administrators and teachers should not have to be security officers. Most schools dont have the money to pay for professional security but believe me it makes a difference to have security visible at these events. For the fans who cannot contain their emotions, remove them for the event and two removals and their gone for the year. The other problem is the officiating. Good officials are not even noticeable at a game, but when officials start warning the crowd and threatening fans of removal it just incites most fans. Referee the game and leave the fans to security. Make no mistake an incident of violence or injury at a sporting event and the whole system will go under review. Be smart fans, root for your team, make as much noise as you want, be respectful and if you have idiots in your own fandom help keep them from getting out of hand. One bad fan can make a good community look bad.

i have watched the coach from warren for many years and he is a great one. i am sick and tired of referees who think they are the almighty on the court. Number one they shouldnt even here what any fan or coach says unless the coach has a question. the refs in todays game take to serious what a coach says as a matter of fact some coaches come up with some great comedy from the bench. my advice for refs is call the game, relax, have some fun with the coaches and dont be so quick to show everyone you are in control we all know you are and when you make it obvious it just makes you look like a jerk. :-* i once sang three blind mice at halftime of a game when the refs were coming back on the floor and they looked at me and all laughed and i laughed too.. its all in fun. just dont get vulgar and curse or call anybody by name and get personal and everyone will have a great time. You refs have to remember you are only going to please 50% of the people anyway so why try to make everybody mad. ;D ;D ;D LIGHTEN UP As for the vist to Austin for being ejected that is plain stupid...... I once had a coach who wore a football helmet to a certain gym because when he came out the opposing fans used to throw m&ms at him. When he wore the helmet everybody had a laugh and the candy throwing stopped and they admired him for his sense of humor. Cant we just have fun.

ease up on coach Henry he is a good man and coach. Changing schools and jobs always makes for a chance of error. Then changing chapters throws in more chance of error. Ive gone to plenty of games where refs dont show or are late so it isnt always admins. fault. however coach Henry is standup guy and assumes responsibility what more can you ask. Make up the game at the end of the year if it makes a difference in district standings. The only thing I would do is make HD play at a neutral site so Big Sandy didnt have to make the same trip twice. common sense solution and no feeling hurt.
