I have watched this team all year and the problem really amounted to depth, which is usually the case in 1A. They were just not as deep as in the past. Free throw shooting plaqued this team all season long. They did have the fight in them to come back in this game after being down by 12 in the first half. Actually came back to tie game in regulation and missed the last shot for the win. In the overtime it was just much of the same of not being able to buy a basket. They shot a horrible percentage for the game. Now about Burkeville. Coach Jamison came from N.O. after the hurricane and in two years time has won a district title and a playoff game. He has taken the talent in Burkeville and got them to be very disciplined. They dont care if they beat you 3-2 as long as they win. Hes done a great job there. As for the Evadale coach I have watched him for ten years, and he has won District 8 out of 10 and has been a playoff team all 10. Amazing in 1A when you dont have a lot of players to choose from. He will bring the lady rebels back next year and they will be tougher than ever with a great crop of young players.

Big Sandy 12-0 Evadale 10-2 2 losses to big sandy by 7pts each game Hull Daisetta Evadale will play 3rd place team in 23A which could be Burkeville West Sabine or Zavalla I think. Winner would play Bosqueville and then probably Martinsville and then Martins Mill If anyone knows how district 23A finished please post in forum Evadale is the real sleeper in the region. They are perennial playoff team and well coached. Have big team and can really get after you on defense. They will be very dangerous. Wouldnt want to play them if they get on a roll.

martins mill is very very tough. Lovelady will be a rough game for big sandy, I dont think they can beat lovelady. Evadale will also have warm up game with Hardin. Standing in the way of Evadale match up with Martins Mill is Martinsville, they are rated #14 I believe, of course looking ahead can get anyone in trouble. They both must win a couple of games to get to play Martins Mill. Good luck to orangefield this year, saw them in Silsbee and was really impressed.

Gotta mention 1A Girls coach Robert Hollyfield of Evadale. Year in and year out a playoff team.Has won district every year but one in his 10yrs.at Evadale. Has over 220 career wins. Hard to keep 1A program on top with few numbers but he has managed to do it.

Former Evadale Lady Rebel Holli Wilkins became the all time steals leader in Centenary ladies basketball history in a game 12/30 vs McNeese St. She had 12pt. 5stls. in the win over McNeese St. She will now try to become the all time leader in 3pt. field goals in a career. She already holds the Centenary record for steals in a season at 84. Congrats Holli
