  1. Yes, you are included. Maybe we would benefit but how do you know? Have you been in our shoes. No you have not. Do you understand how many years we have suffered in boy's basketball? I tried to pay you guys a compliment and you took it the wrong way. Happens on here all the time. I wish Silsbee nothing but success on the district race except againt my BOBCATS. I wish you and your family and the people of Silsbee a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. All I ask is why some of you question our schedule? It's really not about you Aggie, you really did not but some others did and that is why I posted even though I brought up your quote. We're cool, bleed. I know that you are passionate about your Bobcats like I am about my Tigers. I just couldn't let you make the comment about being "scared" go without a rebuttal. I hope you and everyone in Orangefield had a great Christmas and will have a Happy New Year.
  2. The streak ends. Us Rocket fans have to be happy. At least that's one thing we got over Boston, a longer winning streak.
  3. You are kidding me, right? If two or more teams tie with the same overall record, it will be broken by team free throw %. Who thought of that? There is enough teams to have a double elim, why play it like this? Seems unnecessary to me. I guess it's all about giving everyone 5 games.
  4. I am up only because I ate too much today. I am so miserable I can't go to sleep.
  5. Bluedove, you need to be a little more observant of the forum. We have a tournament thread at the top of this forum with all the schedules. :
  6. Cleveland doesn't want any part of Silsbee. ;D If I'm reading the bracket right, If Silsbee and Cleveland win they will play each other.........Silsbee plays Dayton and Cleveland plays Sterling.....whats the odds of both Silsbee and Cleveland winning their first game?.............I have seen Cleveland up close this year and they looked like they could beat the Celtics....could have been a one game fluke?.....they shot over 80% from three land.... I hope Cleveland does win their first round game. I would like to see them against Silsbee. But, I think Baytown Sterling will beat Cleveland.

Didn't see the game so can't evaluate rather a fluke or not. BUT, shooting 3's at over 80% rate is P H E N O M I N A L ! ! Partner, I guess it would depend on how many three's they shot that game. If they went 4 for 5, that's 80%, but I would not classify that as phenominal.
  8. Whoa!!! Somebody has a good paying job. ;D
  9. Congrats to Chris Castle of Silsbee. He was definetly Silsbee's iron man. Rarely left the field.
  10. Looks like the opponent defense went to sleep. Coming to a gym near you!!!
  11. Even though it may be "rigged" for BH, look for them to lose their first game to Spring-Delkaney. I am predicting a Spring-Silsbee final with the Tigers coming out on top.
  12. C'mon bleed, no one is scared. There is no 3A team, particularly local, that Silsbee is afraid to play. In fact, by the strength of the Tiger's schedule, they're not afraid to play anyone in this area. They may lose the game, but definetly not scared. Yes, Orangefield did play us a couple of close games last year, but that last game that those two played against each other last year will be more indicative of what it will be like this year. I believe that score was 66-33 in favor of Silsbee. I knew you would not be scared coming from a fan. We do not play the games the kids do. It will be a big challenge to beat you guys this year. All I am saying is don't coun't your chickens because it sounds like you already have. See we can't afford to count our chickens we don't have any. ;D ;D ;D Buy the way this is not about "Silsbee" it is about people saying we have a weak schedule. I may be "just" a fan, but I think I have a pretty good perspective of the Silsbee basketball team since I am broadcasting their games. I have a little more insight to the players and coaches for Silsbee than what your common fan will have. I believe in this Tiger team. They are a special group and I believe they will go undefeated in district, nothing "chicken" about that. You are right, this thread is not about Silsbee, but you are the one making the comments about Silsbee and HJ being scared of Orangefield. No, I said what would the "Golden Triangle" think if we beat the the powers like Silsbee and Hardin Jefferson. That is actually a compliment to you guys. Never mentioned that y'all were scared because we play y'all in district. Not in preseason. I am talking about other teams. That is what this is all about our weak schedule, Remember? You are a true fan for Silsbee and I respect that. So am I for Orangefield. I marked in bold your quote in your original post to this thread. You refer to "you guys" that were questioning OF's schedule. Then you suggest that "they" don't worry about the Bobcats schedule and just worry about when we play you. Then you state that you think "you guys" are scared. Just who is "you guys"? I can only assume that you meant "you guys" as a couple of us Tiger fans because that's who was posting on this thread about Orangefield's schedule. Go back and check.

  15. There are many things more serious than sports that I would wish for, but to keep it sports related, I wish for a Silsbee state championship in basketball in March.
  16. That same Central team that Silsbee blewout beat HJ so no I don't think the talent gap is closing... I think Silsbee has a very experienced, athletic, well coached, veteran ball club that would give alot of bigger schools a run for thier money THIS YEAR... Next year key parts will have graduated and they will still be good, but not as good as the bigger schools! I think the title of this thread was misleading in a sense. It should have been stated as to this area and not elude to the entire state. In this area, as for the big schools, only Ozen and Central have really done anything in the playoffs. Yet you have several small schools that have done some damage in the playoffs. Could those play with the big boys on a year in year out basis? Probably not, but I think it's closer now than it was before only because of the drop in quality of the big schools in this area and not the increase in quality of the small schools in this area. Short, as for Silsbee next year, we may not be as good next year, but we will have a good group back. We lost 3 key players from last year's state semi-finalist and returned 2 starters. Next year, we will return 3 starters and lose 4 key players in our 10 man rotation, two which are starters. With the shape of our JV, I look for Silsbee to only drop a smidgen from the level of this year's squad.
  17. I couldn't agree more, short. Central should win this but they probably shouldn't be in the tourney to begin with. I wonder why they didn't play in the James Gamble Classic or the Gulf Coast Classic?
  18. Next time Nos, don't hold back. Just tell us how you really feel. ;D btw, actually this is part of what these messageboards are about. People can come on here and think they can coach. Most can't, but it's allowed until it becomes bashing.
  19. Thanks for that info. Sorry to hear about the damage. That is a very nice gym and was looking forward to doing some broadcasting at that tourney from the Field House. Looks like I'll have to alter my plans some.
  20. I don't have a problem with any of these selections. But, I will point out that Jeremy Johnson was the district MVP over Hypolite. With Hypolite being a senior and his team beating Silsbee and advancing farther in the playoffs, it is understandable that he is up for the award. Congrats to all and good luck.
  21. We have reached the magical number of 10,000 members!! Thanks to all for making this the best and fastest growing sports site in all of Texas!!!

  23. There is a possibility that Setxsports in conjunction with EastTxsports will broadcast this game. Stay tuned!!!!
  24. That '98 team was special, one of the best teams to come out of Silsbee and Southeast Texas. They were ranked #1 all year and also was ranked in the top 25 nationaly. Short, you are wrong about what team they lost to in the first round. They lost to Tyler Chapel Hill, 68-65. They did blowout Cleveland twice that year. Silsbee was 31-0 entering that playoff game, then one and done. Truely one of our most dissappointing losses in Silsbee basketball history. I went on to the state tourney that year (like I always do) and all 4 teams in the tournament Silsbee would have handled. It was a shame.
