I am just speaking on principle. Some decisions shouldn't be about "pleasing the masses". I completely understand that what we have as our GOW will not change the landscape of how people think around here. I just think that the MCM game shouldn't be an "automatic" every year.

But that's the point. If we don't show some love to teams outside of the 409, then that interest will stay low. The prediction thread for MCM was going to be active regardless if it was our GOW or not. That really should have no bearing on what is decided here as GOW. Everyone knows how big of a game the MCM game is year to year. One of the best rivalry games in the state. But just to automatically make it the GOW without considering other factors is a disservice to our other teams we cover. Here's a hypothetical that I would like some of our local media peeps to comment on. What if United and West Brook were playing this week for a district championship? Would MCM still be their GOW?

Well, we here at SETXsports need to be a little more "open" minded. IMO, our Game of the Week isn't just about rivalry and history. Should be what the best or most important game is on the slate. Don't get me wrong, love the game. But I will never vote it as our game of the week if neither are making the playoffs or both have losing seasons. BTW, I voted for the New Caney/Porter game.

I've often wondered if PN-G and Nederland had losing records and both teams were going to miss playoffs, would Mid County Madness still be the game of the week for our local media outlets?

I view that game as a toss up. Center has a very good offense. I see it as whoever turns the ball over less wins that game. I'll take H-F by 4.

Who can clinch what this week: West Orange-Stark can clinch the #1 seed with a win or a loss of less than 7 to Hamshire-Fannett. Hamshire-Fannett can clinch a #1 seed with a win of more than 7 over West Orange-Stark. Silsbee can clinch the #2 seed with a Hamshire-Fannett loss or with a West Orange-Stark loss or more than 10.

School district did not pay for it. Sponsors paid for it. Basketball fam wants school district to pay for such things. Majority of Tiger fans like it. You always have certain few who think their kids (sport) gets the short end of the stick. But, I do wish the city/school had something other than the two banners in gym repping the state champions.

They will be better this year (of course they only won 3 games last year) but you are correct. The well is pretty dry over in Kountze.

We will shut this thread down if you guys continue to shout (use of all caps or large font) 6) NO SHOUTING!!- (Use of "Caps Lock") The standard practice on most message boards, forums, emails, web pages, etc. is that the use of all caps is regarded as SHOUTING!!

A school district has to count the students that are at alternative schools if they are going to come back to main campus. Otherwise, schools could send several students to the alt campus just to lower their numbers for realignment then have them back the next week. Early College is a separate campus and should not be counted but Pathway students should be counted because they are still considered students at main campus. Also, Early College is mostly all seniors or vast majority are seniors and you don't count senior class in any snap shot for realignment. The Livingston ordeal was they purposely did not count students that were at their alternative campus. You have to count those students. Thing is, Livingston had been counting them for years but then someone had the "bright" idea not to count them that time just so they would drop in classification. What I don't get is why schools would fudge on numbers for realignment? Why would they report less? A school should report whatever their number is because that's where they get their money from the state. More students, more money. If you are going to fudge, then report more, not less.
