  2. Deer Park wins volleyball match 3-2 vs. Clear Falls (21-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12). Lady Deer advance to the regional tournament to play Cy-Fair on Friday November 15th @ 7pm at Fort Bend ISD Wheeler Field House in the Region 3-6A Regional Semifinals.
  3. According to my sources everyone will play this Friday that played in last game.
  4. Game has been moved to Saturday. Still working out the times.
  5. I have been told Silsbee went 1-2 in scrimmages. Have not heard what the scores were or which opponents.

  7. Like I have stated, I really do not have a problem with a 4 team playoff system as long as every district has at least 7 teams. I just don't think it's a good system when 0-10, 1-9 teams make the playoffs but 7-3, 6-4 teams do not. That's strictly about geography and not about success on the field. A team should earn it's way to the playoffs and not be automatically placed in it or only required to win one game to get in. UIL should do whatever is necessary to equal out these districts. Then and only then would I view a 4 team playoff system as a valid system. I do not really want to go back to a two team system but if it's entirely impossible for the UIL to eliminate these 4 or 5 team districts, then I say go back to a 3 team playoff system ( still keeping the divisional districts) and reward the district champ or #1 seed a bye in the first round. This will give some incentive for teams to win district titles and require a team to at least win a district game to qualify.
  8. No it is not. Another press box I hate with a passion. Press box food is good though.
  9. This I realize it would make some schools have to travel more, but this would make a 4 team playoff system work.
  10. Still needing 7 more schedules
  11. And if the UIL cannot figure out a way to eliminate the 4-5 team districts, then I say go back to 3 teams qualifying and reward the district champ a first round bye. At least that way a district championship means something. Speaking of district champs, in this current system, I think district champs in all classifications (not just 6A and 5A) should host the first round game. Reward the teams for that accomplishment.

  13. It only works if all districts have 7 or more teams. It doesn't work when districts only have 4 or 5 teams. In essence, a team in a 4 team district could forfeit every game in the regular season and still qualify for playoffs. That sir is not a playoff system that works.
  14. Pulling for those Titans my friend but man, Shadow Creek is nasty.
  15. I was at that game and other than the beat down that Jasper got that night the thing that stood out to me was when Reggie ran down Thurman Thomas after Thomas had about a 10 yard lead. Willowridge ended up scoring anyways.
  16. I take it that you do know about high school sports? Speaking for myself, I know plenty about high school sports. It's my job.
  17. I would even be okay with 6 team districts. The 4 and 5 team districts need to be done with if you are going to stay a 4 team playoff system.
  18. Again, I am ok with 4 teams qualifying as long as each district has a minimum of 7 teams. That way, a team would have to win 2 district games to make the playoffs. If a team went 2-8 but those two wins were in district in a 7 team district, that is fine. They earned their way to the playoffs. How in the heck does a team that goes 0-10 earn it's playoff spot? Geography

  20. I think I have made my feelings known enough about this subject. Even let DCTF's Greg Tepper know what I thought.

  22. I would hope that they would do the better game which is Orangefield vs. Franklin. Also most if not all Mustang fans can make the drive to Beaumont but not all Orangefield fans can make the drive to The Woodlands.
  23. David Barron @dfbarron It appears that 86 teams with sub-.500 records have made the @uiltexas 11-man playoffs, topped, in a manner of speaking, by Reagan County, Iraan and Era, each at 0-10. There are three 1-9 teams, a 1-8 team and eight 2-8 teams.
