7. Bulldogs pulled this win off! It was a great game played by both teams. Sanderson and Nevala are a strong duo. Nevala came in under pressure and got the job done. Feltman looked real strong behind the plate. Nederlands infield defense is still very weak with a solid outfield. Humphrey started out strong but the Dogs started to figure him out. Roddy's fast ball and curve ball kept the Dogs on their toes but they finally found their groove kick started with a 2RBI shot by Feltman. Nederlands crowd got a little rambunctious while LCM seemed to keep their cool for the most part. Great showings by the players though. It was a fun game to watch with class acts on both teams!
 8. I have to say the times I have seen them, Nederlands outfield defense is solid with the weak defensive links being in the infield. I would agree though that the pitching staff is solid, hitting line up is solid from 1-9 and they seem to have great team chemistry with no hot shots. I bet Nederland will go far this season!! IMHO
 9. NEDERLAND WINS 8-1!!! Sanderson was dominant!! Great showing by all the Dogs!!
 10. Solid pitching with Sanderson, Nevala and Ramoin. Outfielders look great with not much getting by them, infield is a little weak and batting is looking really good. No big power hitters this year but consistent hitters are just as good. Getting on base and being aggressive on base running will win games.  Going be a great season if they keep this momentum.

 12.
Robbin's is not the JV coach. Bottom line is that playoff team got beat.
I just wanted to put my .02 in...You are correct that Robbins is not the JV coach but supposedly he makes the calls as far as line ups. Their JV coach doesn't know anything about baseball so there is definitely some micro managing having to go on there!!  :o  ???  :o From what I've heard that program is being run into the ground. Poor decision making and favoritism kills a program, everytime!! Ned needs to wake up soon before their demise with so much talent on their hands!! It was a great game no doubt, (yes I was there)  I was just surprised to see them pull Nevala. I've been watching that kid pitch/play for several years and he was no where near being done. I think Ned would have won had they left him in  :-\... that's all....bad decision turned loss by the coach, IMHO!  Definitely talented group on both sides though!
 13. I KNOW most kids choose to play select if they are truly serious about playing at the next level. I know my kids do. Why else would we choose to make a monetary investment, time investment and hear our kid get griped at for not making adjustments or doing what they're told WHEN they're told to do it???? I don't remember who said it but they made the comment that on these select teams...they are just that...select. The coaches can and WILL let a kid go if he doesn't bust his butt like all the other players. High school sports has gotten too soft!! More importantly, high school coaches aren't interested in assisting their athletes get scholarships. I've heard time and time again that if they "help" one kid attempt to get a scholarship well then they have to help them all. Umm...isn't that what they're there for??? If a high school program were really there to help their students/athletes continue on at the next level then they would make a vested interest in their towns athletes and start programs in the middle schools to culturize their future prospects. I know some very upstanding, honest and sincere select coaches that personally vested in my childs future. If they can tell people that they have a player from their organization signed to wherever that helps their organization. I would totally think a high school coach would help promote school pride and help athletes continue on but I have yet to see one make such an effort!!! I miss old school coaching like crazy!! BRING IT BACK coaches...there are parents out there that don't mind when a kid gets griped at for not doing what they're told! Unfortunately, the softness I've seen from coaches will only produce a bunch of pansies and wusses!!!! That's our future too!!!! If the coaches won't promote their athletes which in turn promotes school pride...then so be it...The End of High School Sports!!!!
 14.

I think it comes down to passion for the game and wanting to "know" the entire craft.  Too many times i see guys wait for the ball instead of attacking and playing the routine ground ball rather than letting it play them.  Dont worry about making it look good just make the play.
A lot of coaches don't care if a kid has passion for a game and don't even realize that they've got some boys out there that know more about the mental game than the coaches do!  Some of these boys practice very hard in their off season time only to go backwards during the high school season. I know of several boys that go above and beyong during "off season" for the love and passion of the game. If only coaches would capitalize on THAT attitude I think we would see some state titles in the area!!
I am not ready to dismiss the coaches that we have at our local high schools.  I know they do have passion and to label them as basically the sole cause of this problem is ingenuous.  However, while they do not happen to be the cause (at least in my eyes anyway), at least until the end of April it is their problem and they must craft solutions to the problems...I don't think the "they will pull out of this" mentality is applicable in many of the cases we have seen.  Perhaps a day or two (or more if necessary) where every bat is stowed except for the fungo bats of the coach and his assistants would remedy the problem. Let's remember the point that admin made in his original post on this thread.  It is not merely the failure of many teams to play outstanding defense, it is the disturbing failure of many teams to play even sound fundamental defense, resulting in games where teams are committing an average of nearly an error an inning.
While I can agree with what WOS said I can also see where Trueblue75 might be headed with their thoughts in that we could be watching better defense because there are boys out there that are honing in on their craft?!  I totally agree with what Crash said...boys need to be running up on the ball and not waiting for it to come to them. Those split seconds can mean a run!! Be proactive instead of reactive and MAKE the play instead of waiting for a play to be made!!! Nice topic indeed!

Complaining this early after one scrimmage?
I didn't read about anyone complaining. Voicing concerns (after what they've seen so far) maybe but not complaining. LaSalle is a great kid though who should at least be given the chance to begin with. That's just my opinion of course. He's not my kid but I see how hard he's worked to get on Robbins varsity team. It's difficult for the kids to understand what exactly is needed to play at that level for Robbins when they see what is chosen over others is all. When weaker players with weaker work ethics or kids with grade problems are chosen over ones that have similar talent (if not more), better work ethic and better grades, it would be questionable to anyone would it not? Especially the boys working hard to get there.
"So far"= 1 week of indoor throwing and hitting + 1 scrimmage....kind of early to be complaining???  Jordan started out on JV his Sophomore year and performed very well and ended up moved up to Varsity.  Don't let the first week or scrimmage bother you.  Something you always need to consider....Do you want a player up on Varsity where he might not play much or do you want him on JV getting more time?......Finally, I have had both my sons on playoff teams.....They went further with the less talented/experienced team because of chemistry....Adults on here can hurt that chemistry! :(
Good points NHS!! Chemistry IS what makes a team successful and hopefully Nederland's got it this year! Has anyone heard if Kelly has played anywhere yet?
LaSalle looked strong for Nederland. Nice speed and control (even with some heckling from the BC dugout). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with heckling but I just wanted to point out that it was strongest during Cole's pitching and he handled it well. In my opinion, he was one of the strongest pitchers Nederland showed that night. Not exactly sure why Robbins hasn't moved him up permanently?! I thought it was about what would be best for the program but with some of the decisions made so far it doesn't quite seem like it.
It's only been a week of indoor practice.  Noone knows what will happen.  One scrimmage doesn't tell it all.  I've had one or both of my sons on Varsity for the past 5 years.  While I have not always agreed with Coach Robbins, I do understand that with the depth of talent in Nederland, he has to make some tough choices that will not make everyone happy.  He has several pitchers that would start/play on other teams.  It's a good problem to have.
I do understand that. I guess that's why first impressions are always so important since they make just that...impressions! Someone once said they hope this coach can make better decisions than football and so far it's questionable. Only going on what has been seen so far is all. There is a long season ahead that's for sure!
Just remember that a lot of times first impressions are wrong too! I personally have seen several boys from Nederland play in other circles and they have a lot of talent that's for sure. Their coach has a difficult task at hand so give him some time to prove something. He's got the talent to produce so sit back and watch what he does with it. The season has JUST begun!
 17. Awesome....congratulations Kael & Bubba!! Best of luck to you both!

Know your role. Nederland has been pretty successful from what I remember. They have 3 year lettermen and D1 players that work their behinds off (in multiple sports too). They do not need to be taught, they need to be observed. I am willing to bet that most (if not all) of the people on here will acknowledge talent. What most of us do not like is being told in advance how much we should be in "awe" of someones talent. If anyone, for one second thinks that any of us do not want talented players on our teams, you are sadly mistaken. I will never shy away from competition. It makes the TEAM better. I do shy away from arrogance. It trends to do just the opposite. My advice to you is to stop watching BP. Go and see what happens when the fans are long gone, when no one is in the stands. Go and see who's taking the extra infield, shagging some extra fly balls with his teammates. That's the kid I want to watch!
I couldn't agree more...THAT'S when you'll see the heart of a true player, is when no one else is looking! Wish more coaches watched at that time too!!  :( Obviously everyone wants talented players/teammates on a team. What's hard to stomach is the praise of anyone that has a bad attitude, disrespects coaches/teammates/bosses and has terrible work ethic. You see most of that off of wherever you practice/play/work.
well said trueblue75! very valid points made.
 19. Yikes...although, I'd be willing to bet that ALL the schools have athletes in more than one sport and nothing is being done about it!! Don't you all remember? Rules are meant to be broken?! At least that's what is obviously being taught our children!  >:(  :( ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I should rephrase this...if indeed this rules means what it states (?), than most schools would be in violation.  I DO have a hard time believing that this major rule would be completely disregarded by so many coaches. There's got to be some sort of loophole.
 20.
First of all no newbie has made Varsity yet, they may be given the chance but nothing is determined until after the scrimmages. They may think they made Varsity allready, but in reality they haven't and the Varsity Team will be very hard to make. What they need to do is get to work and quit running their mouth or someone on a Varsity squad will humble them. From personal experience it's best to come on a Varsity squad with ears open and mouth shut, player and parent. Respect the players above you and learn from them, respect the parents that have been there and learn from them. I've been to my share of baseball games and never has a parent, player, coach, fan ever measured a homerun. That is just messed up. The W is what counts. 84 MPH U14 Select-88 MPH Varsity-92 MPH Elite Varsity, big difference, if that swing is long forget it. Spoonbill I'm kinda of worried he may be sleeping with the awards and wearing the jersey as a nite-nite. Has the photo on the counter? Hmmm....
VERY well put Doggie! Busting butt is usually the best recourse for trying to prove ones self!
 21. Didn't matter if they DID test positive anyways...nothing ever happened to them, other than start the game on Friday night. It was a waste of money from the get go!
 22.
Oh I almost forgot, I do have one of Weisbrod's uniforms, 3 baseballs signed and misc photos of him playing for the Bandito's at my shop as we speak. I am getting ready to shadowbox same for his dad. Quite impressive. two of the baseballs are marked as over 400 ft. home runs. If you care to stop by PM me and I will be glad to show you his trophies.
I laughed out loud! This is hilarious! I can't tell if this is actually serious or a what!!! Really?? PM you to see some little kids trophies!! There I go again...laughing out loud! Thanks though!!
 23. Numbers reported for NHS were 16 freshmen and 27 sophomores. Previous post stating 100 underclassmen is WAY off!
