  1. [Hidden Content] If you sort throught each teams pages you can figure out the standings for the most part. I think it goes like this though. Cleveland is undefeated. Liberty has beaten everyone but Cleveland and is in 2nd. Tarkington has beaten everyone but Liberty and Cleveland and is in 3rd. So here it is i think is my best guess, the 22-3A standings. Cleveland Liberty Tarkington
  2. Ok, to answer the question to the original post, yes, i do think there is a harder district than 24-1A, which would be 22-1A. Now that i've thought about it further, i dont think Spurger and Hull Daisetta would make the playoffs in 22-1A, which means only 2 teams could go. On the other hand, i believe 4-5 teams in 22-1A could make the playoffs in 24-1A. So therefore, i guess that would mean 22-1A is a harder district. Another district i would add that is just as tough is district 19-1A with the heavy favorite to come out of region III,#2 ranked Martins Mill, along with Lapoyner, and Cayuga, which are very solid teams. Grapeland played Goodrich at Grapeland. Grapeland beat Palestine(3A) by 15. They beat trinity and tatum (2A). They lost Madisonville (3A) and Buffalo (2A) by 1 pt, both very good teams.
  3. Ok, the top half of 24-1A is probably as tough as it gets, but 22-1A is every bit as tough as 24-1A top to bottom. 22-1A consists of Grapeland (5-0), Latexo (3-2), Lovelady (3-2), Slocum (2-3), Groveton (1-4), and Alto (1-4). Alto and Slocum were both ranked #6 and #13 in tabc in december and both are missing the playoffs at this moment! Grapeland and Latexo should be ranked and are every bit as good as West Hardin and Big Sandy (Grapeland beat Goodrich). The main difference in this district compared to 24-1A is that there is no gimme games like Evadale, High Island, and Sabine Pass, all 3 of those teams would finish dead last easily in 22-1A. Groveton will come in last in 22-1A probably and would finish no lower than 5th in 24-1A. If Slocum, Alto, or Lovelady were in this district they would have a great shot at 3rd place easily. Every game in this district has been within 20-25 pts and there has been several games decided by less than 4 pts.
  4. Slocum 56 Groveton 51. Final from last night. Here is the current standings for this very tough district 22-1A. Grapeland 5-0 Latexo 4-1 Lovelady 3-2 Slocum 2-3 Groveton 1-4 Alto 1-4 It looks like Slocum and Lovelady are battling it out for 3rd place. Lovelady plays at Slocum this saturday.
  5. I've seen this girl play twice now and i can without a doubt she's hands down the best player in 21 3A. She can handle the ball, play the point, post you up, get in the lane whenever she wants, and rebounds well. She should be the MVP of the district because if Kville makes the playoffs it would be because of her.
  6. I've watched the freshman team at Orangefield a lot since last year when they were in 8th grade and they have a lot of talent. They've only lost 2 games this whole year, to HJ and Silsbee, and they've won several games this year handily. Keep in mind, their 2 best players moved up, one is probably the best player on jv and the other freshman is a key contributor on varsity who averages around 10 pts a game now. I know everyone in Orangefield is excited about this bunch of kids and what they can accomplish over the next 3 years.
  7. This game didnt get much attention back then, but it was quite a shocker when it happened. In the 95-96' season, over the christmas holidays I saw Orangefield beat West Orange Stark at WOS 82-75. Back then West Orange was a considerably bigger school (they still are compared to OF) and was 4A, and they were very good. They played a couple of guys over 6'6 and i believe they made the playoffs that year. I believe its the only time OF has won at WOS.
  8. Just curious. If any of yall want to read some stuff about texas 1A-3A girls basketball and want to hear any statewide scores or girls bball discussion its a good forum for that. I just thought i'd start this thread though to get more people from southeast texas involved on the site to give our teams down here some more recognition. Here are a few threads started that involve our area that yall might be interested in and want to read or post about. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  9. I'm glad to see that Brett Ramsey is getting some recognition in the area finally. Its a shame that 1966 Total Yards and 28 TD's (19 rush, 9 pass) cant get you an all district selection but i'm glad that sextsports made a spot for him (it couldve been higher).
  10. Slocums record is now 15-4 for the season. They play at home against Mt Enterprise Jan 2 before starting district play Jan 9 against Lovelady.
  11. What are you smoking diva? Oswalt is one the most consistent starters in the majors and is in the top 5 in innings pitched and cy young voting the last 3 years. He's always pitched deeper into games than hometown heroes Clemens and Pettitte. He has been underappreciated for years in his hometown. If it werent for him, we dont win our first playoff series against the braves 3 years ago and we dont go to the World Series last year. Of the 30 major league teams, AT LEAST 25 of them Oswalt would be their #1 starter. Its a very short list of people you can argue i'd rather have on my team than Oswalt, i can name Santana, maybe Halladay, maybe Carpenter but thats about it. You want proof, heres some... 12. You're right tvc184, you cant go strictly by the numbers all the time. But you have to admit theres a lot of numbers that support ramsey having the better year. Speaking of teams and their expectations, going off your coach of the year argument...Ramsey took a team picked DEAD LAST in texas football magazine and made them into a playoff contender (5th place out of 8 teams) that played everyone competitively and EXCEEDED everyones expectations while Dishons team finished about where everyone thought they'd finish. And vp93, while statistics are facts your opinion about a coordinator trying to figure out how to stop dishon over ramsey is totally opinion. Because one could argue while dishon is more athletic, there isnt threat of the passing game that there is with ramsey and ramsey can still run well and is hard to bring down.
  13. After looking at the 21-3A all district selections i can definitely see one glaring omission and that was Brett Ramsey not making all district QB. I can only think of 2 reasons why Dishon made all district qb over Brett. Reputation and politics. Because if you look at it objectively, there is NO WAY he shouldve made it this year. And if anyone from Bridge City is reading this and disagrees with this, i'll spell it out completely for you where there should be no argument. Here's a few simple reasons why: 1. Stats (Season/District). The most objective measure of an individual record is stats. Ramsey was better in almost every category thinkable. heres their stats for year. Dishon 1600 Total Yards 13 TD's (let it be noted that 3 of Dishons 4 biggest rushing games came in nondistrict play) Ramsey 1966 Total Yards 28 TD's District stats: Dishon 670 yards rushing 300 passing Ramsey 790 yards rushing 500 passing Season Passing td's: Ramsey 9 Dishon 2 Season Rushing td's: Ramsey 19 Dishon 11 2. Games versus the 3 playoff teams. While Brett Ramsey was quite a gamer against the 3 best teams in district, Dishon had pedestrian stats against the powerhouse district teams. Here is their stats compared in those games: WOS: Ramsey 182 yds rush, 12 pass, 2 rush tds Dishon 74 yds rush , 0 pass, 0 tds Silsbee: Ramsey 72 yds rush, 106 pass, 1 rush 1 pass td Dishon 37 yds rush, 41 pass, 1 rush td 0 pass td Kirbyville: Ramsey 73 yds rush, 165 pass, 2 rush 2 pass td Dishon 28 yds rush, 56 pass, 1 rush td 0 pass td Ramsey total yards in 3 games: 610 Dishon total yards in 3 games: 236 3. Passing. While Dishon is a great QB who's an unbelievable athlete, most would agree hes a running back playing the qb position. Ramsey is the total package nearly breaking 1000 yards passing and only rushing for 100 yards less or so than Dishon. Ramsey passed for at least 70 yards in his first 7 games while Dishon did it only 3 times all season. Ramsey had 4-100 yd passing games while Dishon had 1 (for 108 yds). Both players were vital to their teams success so to make that argument is splitting hairs because neither team wouldve succeeded without their QB this year. I welcome any debates or arguments for both sides. BC people are welcome to defend your guy on here, but i say good luck based on the stats i've given.
