  1. Bobcatmom, sounds like you would like to know as much information about this team as possible so here is what i've heard about Columbia. Their best player Jade Davis averaged 25pts/game or something like that, she is a very good player, not as good as Britney Scott of WOS or Kellum of Kirbyville but just a notch below them. The rest of their starting 5 is solid but not spectacular. They have 2 posts that start that are around 5'9-10 that are decent athletes and ok basketball players but dont pose matchup problems. They dont shoot as well as OF or do anything better than OF. They've played a weak schedule and are not prepared for this kind of game. If we play well, i think we can win as much as 15-25 pts.
  2. Listen Tiger fans, im probably one of the few on this board thats seen Wharton this year and they arent near the caliber of team yall are. They would probably be the 5th or 6th best team in our district at best. I believe #4 and #10 are their 2 guards and 2 of their best players, they like to drive to the hole a lot. Shut them down and you will win big. Take it to them early and dont quit and i think yall can put them away early....Good Luck!
  3. I've seen West Hardin and WOS play and i think if WH can keep Netherly in check they have a good chance of winning.
  4. I want to see what everyone thinks of the region 3 games. I thought it would be interesting to hear everyones opinions on the outcome of these games. Lorena vs #7 Diboll- Diboll by 6 Madisonville vs Liberty Hill- Liberty Hill by 5 #12 Orangefield vs West Columbia- Orangefield by 12 Smithville vs Cleveland- Cleveland by 2 Robinson vs Fairfield- Fairfield by 7 #17 Crockett vs #2 China Spring- China Spring by 3 #5 Navasota vs West Orange Stark- Navasota by 5 (I am pulling for WOS though, yall have a good chance of winning still!) #9 Silsbee vs Wharton- Silsbee by 16 The 2 games in which i know the least about are Robinson/Fairfield and Madisonville/Liberty Hill I know there are people on here that know a little about most of these games, put your opinion on here (lets hear from you COOP)
  5. Give me credit tigersvoice, i was the only one who stepped up and predicted a 30-40 pt victory and it happened. This friday i say Orangefield over West Columbia by 12, and Silsbee over Wharton by 16.
  6. OK, due to scheduling conflicts, i have to scratch the july 28-aug 5 trip. This is the current trip and only trip now that me and my friend can take that we can both go on. Aug 14 Cards vs Brewers @ MIL (Miller Park) 15 Reds vs Cubs @ CHC (Wrigley Field) 90 miles 16 Mets vs Pirates @ PIT (PNC Park) 460 miles 17 Orioles vs Bluejays @ TOR (Rogers Centre) 320 miles 18 Angels vs Red Sox @ BOS (Fenway Park) 550 miles 19 Tigers vs Yankees @ NYY (Yankee Stadium) 215 miles 20 Rangers vs Orioles @ BAL (Camden Yards) 190 miles 21 Indians vs Tigers @ DET (Comerica Park) 530 miles 22 Braves vs Reds @ CIN (Great American Ballpark) 360 miles We might scratch the trip to Toronto just because the rogers centre is not much to look at ive heard, and we'd be driving 550 miles to boston from toronto. If we skipped toronto, that'd give us an open day to drive 590 miles to Boston from Pittsburgh. We still only have 2 people going as of now. Theres a slight possibility i will be looking for someone to go with us.
  7. Ok, heres my take on the area playoff teams chances, and i'll try to go through all the teams so i can give everyone something to read. All these are just projections, and some of the opponents i project each team to play are based on probability and the assumption there are no major upsets. In 5A, PA Memorial can go a couple rounds if they can knock off Fort Bend Dulles in the 2nd, but then they face Humble who has beaten them handily so that will be tough to get past that round. In 4A, Lumberton appears to have a pretty good draw, unlike the other 3 teams in the area. Ozen will have a really tough time getting past formerly ranked Crosby, if they do, then they have to face #16 Lamar Consolidated which i think is a tall task. If Central wins their first game, they have draw 7th ranked Dickinson which is very hard to ask for them to pull that off. Barbers Hill has the same problem, if they win their first game, they also draw Dickinson, if they somehow can win that game, they will probably draw #11 Houston Jones, i've seen them and they will be really tough to beat. Which leaves Lumberton, who will draw Crosby or Lamar Consolidated in their 2nd round. I dont know much about Huntsville or Houston Washington, but they arent ranked in state, so if Lumberton can get past the 2nd round, i would give them a reasonable chance of making the regional finals. If they do make it that far, look for them to have a really tough opponent in the reg finals like Barbers Hill, Dickinson (who beat them by double digits earlier this year), or Houston Jones (beat Orangefield by double digits). In 3A, you have 2 really good teams with reasonably good shots at the regional finals. Even though Orangefield came in 2nd, i think they got the better draw over Silsbee and WOS. OF has coldspring in the first round, then faces West Columbia in the 2nd round and in the 3rd round they'd face either Cleveland or Smithville. In my opinion, if they play well, they should have no problem winning they're 2nd and 3rd round games. In the regional semis they'd face Liberty Hill or Diboll, most likely it will be #6 Diboll. I think if they play really well in that game i think they have a good chance to win. In the regional finals, they'd face one of these teams probably: Silsbee, WOS, Navasota, Crockett, or China Spring, and i think they are good enough to beat any of them if they play a great game. WOS has Liberty in the first round which they should win, then they would face #5 Navasota which will be a tough game for them to win but anythings possible. If they win that they'd face Silsbee in their 3rd round which would be 2 really tough back to back games. Silsbee IMO has a tough draw. They play the Giddings/Wharton winner which they should win. But then they draw the #5 Navasota/WOS winner which im sorry is likely Navasota, but i think Silsbee is better and can win that game. But then, in the regional semis, they will have to face either Crockett or last years state champs #3 China Spring. I give them a reasonable chance to win that game also, but having to probably go through the #5 then #3 ranked teams to get just to the regional finals will be tough. In the regional finals, they could play Cleveland, Liberty Hill, Diboll, or Orangefield. HOW GREAT WOULD A SILSBEE/ORANGEFIELD REGIONAL FINAL BE? i'm really pulling for that to happen, how great would our district look to come out of the toughest region like that. In 2A, I know very little about all 3 of these teams, but it would appear that Hardin has by far the best chance of going deep in the playoffs. The only state ranked team on their half of the draw is #9 Winona. If they can get past them in the regional semis, the best team on the other side that they'd face is #6 Hughes Springs in the regional finals which i've heard is a very good team. In 1A, #1 Martins Mill and #6 Lovelady are on opposite sides of the bracket and are odds on favorites to play in the regional finals. If Hull Daisetta wins their first round they'd face Lovelady in the 2nd round. Big Sandy will have a pretty tough game in their first round against either Slocum or Chilton, who i've seen both and both will give them a tough game but BS will probably win. Unfortunately they'd face Lovelady in their 2nd round, who is very very good. Evadale has a tough draw too, their 2nd round game against Axtell will be really tough, and then in the 3rd round they'd get Groveton/Martinsville which i know will be tougher, and then unfortunately if they made it to the regional semis they'd face Martins Mill. Realistically, Orangefield, Silsbee, and Lumberton i think have by far the most reasonable shots of any teams in this area of making at least to the regional finals and winning.
  8. I forgot and missed it! Is it replayed another time or shown somewhere on the the channel 6 site?
  9. tigersvoice, Winning by 20-40 points is not considered running up the score. If that were true Orangefield and Silsbee wouldve been guilty of that many times this year. Coldspring only beat Hull Daisetta, the 3rd place team in 24-1A, by 5 pts in a warmup game. So i will stick with my original prediction from my first post.
  10. Orangefield by at least 20, if they play well, 30-40+ pts
  11. Slocum will play Lovelady at Pollock Central in Lufkin at 7pm. Slocum is head coached by Orangefield graduate Jay Bruce, who was the quarterback of the 98-99 Bobcats that made the playoffs.
  12. Slocum 69 Groveton 46 Lovelady 84 Latexo 78 OT Final Standings Grapeland 10-0 Slocum 6-4 Lovelady 6-4 Latexo 5-5 I think Latexo would beat Hull Daisetta handily, Latexo won the district last year with pretty much the same team and are sitting at home this year in this tough district. Slocum will probably play Lovelady at Groveton on monday night to determine 2nd and 3rd.
  13. I heard Big Sandy had a warmup game last night, is that true? Who did they play and what was the score?
  14. Does anyone know if Silsbee is playing a warmup game? If anyone finds this out please post the time, location and opponent. Thanks
  15. I heard Diboll lost to Huntington by 4, thats a surprise to me...
  16. Slocum beat Alto by 10 Grapeland beat Latexo by 20 Lovelady beat Groveton by 20 22-1A standings Grapeland 9-0 Slocum 5-4 Lovelady 5-4 Latexo 5-4
  17. Slocum beat Alto by 10 Grapeland beat Latexo by 20 Lovelady beat Groveton by 20 So heres the current standings Grapeland 9-0 Slocum 5-4 Lovelady 5-4 Latexo 5-4 Slocum plays Groveton on friday @ Slocum and should likely win that game. Lovelady plays @ Latexo, so the loser of that game is likely to miss the playoffs. Slocum could still lose and get in the playoffs, they would tie the loser for 3rd and have to have a playoff. I know if Slocum wins, 2 teams will win and be tied for 2nd, but i'm not sure how they will determine the tiebreaker. I know Slocum swept Latexo and split with Lovelady in head 2 head , if they go by that first.
  18. Let me break it down for you. Lovelady is the class of this district they are undefeated and in first place and ranked 8th in state. Groveton is coming in 2nd and Slocum (made the state finals last year) is coming in the 3rd. I've seen Lovelady and Slocum play this year. Lovelady is very good, they have great guards, 3 point shooters, and a good post. They played Orangefield very close and lost a close game to them in the Lovelady tournament. They are the favorite to play Martins Mill in the regional finals. According to the bracket, if Slocum wins their first round game they will face Big Sandy in the next round. Slocum has a good point guard and good post and they are well coached. Big Sandy has a better all around team, but Slocum could beat them if they dont play well. After that, Big Sandy would have to play at their very best to beat Lovelady in the regional quarterfinals but beating Lovelady would be a long shot to say the least.
  19. Finals tonight Slocum 59 Latexo 57 Grapeland 86 Lovelady 78 (not sure if that score is exact) Grapeland 8-0 Latexo 5-3 Slocum 4-4 Lovelady 4-4 Alto 1-6 ? Groveton 1-6 ? 24-1A should be paying attention to this district and how it plays out because the winner of district 24-1A could play the 3rd place team in 22-1A in the first round and then Grapeland in their 2nd round....Grapeland is very good and very athletic, they will be a tough matchup.
  20. [Hidden Content] This is a great site to look at reviews of all the ballparks in the majors (and minors) and see how they are graded. Of the 9 ballparks i went to last summer, Jacobs Field ranks somewhere in the middle, below Wrigley, Yankee stadium, Busch, and Turner. The distinguishable feature on Jacobs Field is the "Home Run Porch" which is located just to the right of the left field pole. If you walk right behind it you can walk out of the stadium and be about 100 yards walking distance from Quicken Loans Arena (Cleveland Cavaliers arena). Right now i have me and a friend going for sure, and another friend is probably going so we have 3 probably at least. I have a couple other friends that might go, i'd like to have 4 preferably for the experience and splitting cost (hotels, gas). If i need another person to go i'll let yall know.
  21. 1A Martins Mill will be playing against 2A Hardin at Groveton HS Monday Feb 5th 6:00. If anyone wants to scout or see the team the thats the favorite to come out of region III for 1A, i suggest you watch Martins Mill. They won the state championship game by 30 pts last year. Evadale would play them in the regional semis if they made it that far and Big Sandy would play them in the regional finals. Big Sandy has to worry about Lovelady though in their 2nd round matchup, that will be a very hard game for them to win. Lovelady is ranked in the top 10 in 1A and played Orangefield earlier this year and lost by 10 in a close game.
  22. This summer me and a few friends are planning on going on a trip visiting and touring baseball parks, traveling from city to city, catching a game basically everyday. I have put together a tentative schedule of games that i plan to attend. Here is the schedule of games, i listed the city, teams, ballparks and miles between cities. July 28 Reds vs Cubs @ CIN (Great American Ballpark) 29 Orioles vs Devil Rays @ BAL (Camden Yards) 520 miles 30 open date 31 Yankees vs White Sox @ NYY (Yankee Stadium) 190 miles Aug 1 Red Sox vs Orioles @ BOS (Fenway Park) 215 miles 2 Pirates vs Cardinals @ PIT (PNC Park) 590 miles 3 Tigers vs White Sox @ DET (Comerica Park) 280 miles 4 Cubs vs Mets @ CHC (Wrigley Field) 280 miles 5 Brewers vs Phillies @ MIL (Miller Park) 90 miles This isnt my first trip, this is a trip me and 3 friends took last season. You might have seen us on the sunday sports extra last summer on channel 6 talking about this trip we took. 7-19 ATL @ STL- Busch 7-20 HOU @ CHC- Wrigley 7-21 TEX @ CWS- US Cellular 7-22 MIN @ CLE- Jacobs 7-23 HOU @ NYM- Shea 7-24 ATL @ PHI- Citizens Bank(toured yankee stadium earlier that day) 7-25 SF @ WAS- RFK 7-26 FLA @ ATL- Turner What do yall think of my trip plans this year?
