  1. Way to be a hero Biggio, swing at a bad 2-0 pitch, then hit into a double play....Hurry up and get your 3000 hits.....
  2. Trevor Miller sucks....I nearly posted this last night but was too stressed out watching the game. I wish Garner wouldve just played Qualls, Miller being a lefty has no advantage obviously. His control isnt great and lefties hit him. I hate when managers overplay the lefty/lefty matchups, garner obviously loves to do it.
  3. That was about as bad a call i've ever seen at home plate....I could tell he was safe live. Usually you see a bad call its on replay but i could tell on live tv he was safe.
  4. This poll is kind of ridiculous, Kinsler is WAY better now, those who vote for Biggio probably are not familiar with Kinsler. I'd much rather have Kinsler that Biggio, Kinsler could easily be a top 5 2nd basemen this year, and as a fantasy owner of him that would please me.
  5. [Hidden Content] This has major implications for the division. I dont think the Cards can win without him. I know its early, but i also think you can scratch him off the list for the Cy Young race. As a big fan of his, i think this is Oswalts year.....
  6. [Hidden Content] As a extra innings user from last year, i'm glad to see this. Also i'm interested in this mlb channel they will carry along with it.
  7. The one thing i took away from todays game was Jason Jennings. I hadnt seen him much before so i was curious to see how good he was. He looked good, and i am encouraged that he will have a good year. Wheeler didnt have great location tonight and they scored on a couple bloop hits, it happens... I think Qualls and Wheeler will be fine in the long run, who knows with Lidge, he'll probably be up and down. The thing i'm concerned about is our offense, 4 runs in 2 games....Although i like what Burke, Scott, and Lane have done, just wait till Berkman and Lee get going and we'll see maybe it'll pick up. PS. please call up Nieve soon. I predict a 6 era for wandy this month. At worst Nieve could be in the pen, where he was a stud last year.
  8. [Hidden Content] This is big news. You never know if this could bother him the rest of the season and how much time he could miss. This could have big implications for the NL central and the NL Cy Young.
  9. So who got 1st and 2nd in the Van Vleck tourney for the 3 divisions? I tried to figure it out by reading yalls posts but its not real clear.
  10. I would agree with you on that Bleed Orange, except i'd give Orangefield at bball a slightly better chance than HJ at football. The sad thing is that at least HJ can say basketball school which is fine because they are very good, but can Orangefield use the excuse about about basketball saying they're a football school? We havent even been very good at football the last decade....
  11. [Hidden Content] A few things that i noticed....Brewers got the most picks for the NL central, then the cardinals, cubs, astros, and one pick for the reds??? Astros only 2 of 18 experts picked to go to the playoffs... NL Cy Young- Zambrano 6 votes, Oswalt 5 votes, Schmidt 2 votes, surprisingly Carpenter only 1 vote, and Webb and Smoltz got a vote. Zambrano is a decent pick with that upgraded offense. AL Cy Young- Santana got 10 votes, Mark Buerhle got a vote? NL MVP- Bill Hall? I like the guy but thats a head scratcher
  12. Rodriguez over Nieve??????????????? Thats total garbage. If you read the article it says Wandy has given up 6 runs in his last 8 innings. And in his last start and maybe his best one, he gave up 10 hits in 6 innings. So Nieve has a 3.60 era for the spring and Wandy gives up 6 runs in 8 innings and is awarded the 4th spot.... Am i the only person who thinks something's wrong with that??? I thought they were competing for rotation spots? It looks to me like Garner had his mind made up Wandy would make it even if he did worse than someone else which happened. Does Garner have a mancrush on Wandy? I know Garner wants a lefty in the rotation but if you cant get guys out as good as the other guy whats the point??? I guess you can tell i'm a little frustrated by this move.....
  13. I guess i'm the only real fan on this board thats an astros fan. I'm going to my 2nd straight opening day game this year.
  14. i was at the kountze gym all day saturday so i saw all the games pretty much. For the juniors, Orangefield lost to Kountze in the championship game by 30+ pts. In the losers bracket, Twin County won a close game in comeback against Buna. Then Orangefield and Twin County played for 2nd and Orangefield won in a close one. For the majors, Orangefield played kountze close for a half then lost by 20 pts. Then the big surprise came in the championship game when Twin County knocked off Kountze in overtime in a great game. So Orangefield played Bridge City in the losers bracket and was behind most of the game but beat BC by 7. Then Orangefield and Kountze played for 2nd. OF gave Kountze a scare again, was down only by 4 at half and 11 after 3 quarters and hung around, but kountze was just too good and won the game. So to recap heres how the tournament ended up Juniors- Kountze 1st , Orangefield 2nd, (Twin County 3rd) Majors- Twin County 1st, Kountze 2nd, (Orangefield 3rd) Seniors- Kountze 1st, Twin County 2nd, (Orangefield 3rd) Congratulations to the kids and coaches for their efforts and good luck to these teams in nationals.
  15. In the junior division, Kountze beat Twin County, not sure how bad. Orangefield beat Bridge City by 30-40 pts. Orangefield and Kountze will likely play for first at 1pm, then the loser will likely play Twin County at 8:30pm for 2nd. In the major division, Kountze beat Buna by 30-40 pts. Twin County led by 4 at the half against Bridge City, but ended up winning by 20 pts. Kountze will play Orangefield at 10:30am, the winner will play Twin County for 1st at 3:30pm. The 2nd place game will be at 9:45pm saturday night, from what i've seen, it will likely be Twin County and Orangefield in that game barring any upsets. In the senior division, Kountze beat Twin County by 10 pts for first place. Orangefield beat Bridge City by 5. Orangefield played Twin County for 2nd place at 9:45 tonight and lost by 10.
  16. I've got tickets to opening day(2nd year in a row)...is anyone else going?
  17. OK Bluedove, you're one of the few on here that post about little dribblers and i know youve watched a lot of games. Give me some predictions for the Van Vleck and Kountze regional tournaments. I gave my predictions a couple weeks ago, which was that Orangefield, Twin County, and Kountze will battle for 2 spots in all 3 age groups, i believe all 3 have a chance at all levels. Kountze and OF i think will be the top 2 in juniors. In majors i think Kountze is the favorite with Orangefield and Twin County battling for 2nd, but i think Kountze is very beatable by either team. In seniors i think its a toss up. Twin County may be a very slight favorite, but Kountze has athletes and Orangefield has some talent so i would not be surprised to see any combination of the 3 come out of that group. Unfortunately, i dont know much about the Van Vleck tournament to give any predictions, but i've seen HF and Gulf Coast in the majors and they are both very good and have a great chance. Bluedove, good luck to HF in the regional tournament, please post the scores on here and let me know how it goes, i'll post the Kountze tourney scores....
  18. rub-a-dub, HJ are you kidding me?? You get on the boys basketball site and say Orangefield competing in basketball the next couple years is a joke. I would say Orangefield's basketball team has a better chance of competing in basketball than HJ does in football in district. I said Orangefield's bball team would compete because they had a very talented freshman class that will be very good in a couple years. Orangefields varsity bball team this year played Silsbee to a very close game at the end of the year, the same Silsbee team that made the regional finals. How did yalls football team do against Silsbee and WOS this year? So dont get on here and just rip Orangefield when people suggest they might be good the next couple years in basketball, and then say your will be the top team in football next year when yall were the doormat in district this year.
  19. I think the reason people like the spurs less is because first off, the rockets are a lot closer to us, and secondly, the mavs are just more popular and a flashier team. I dont know about the spurs not having a superstar, Tim Duncan is a superstar, and one of the 5-10 best players in the league. The spurs are my least favorite texas team, although i'll pull for them after the mavs and rockets are eliminated, which i think is how a lot of people feel about that. I've never thought are a very flashy team, i think that has something to do with why they arent huge fan favorites. I've liked Tim Duncan less and less too over the years (although i still root for him) because he seems to whine to the officials all the time, more than usual, and it gets on my nerves.
  20. I'm glad someone posted that about Orangefield winning 22-3A, because i was thinking the same thing. Orangefield, the 5th place team in 21-3A, would win 22-3A. This just goes to show how tough and how great a district 21-3A was last year.
  21. Forget the 5th spot, Nieve needs to be in the 4th spot.
  22. Look at the 2 pitchers that gave up all the runs...Sampson and Moehler...
  23. Its been a long time since i played at Deweyville, and i'm not sure if they got a new field. But their baseball field has to be up there as one of the worst. The right field line of the baseball field almost intersected the back right corner of the end zone on the Deweyville football field. You felt like you were playing in a cow pasture, and the neighborhood that was right behind the fence was nothing to look at either.
