Do people really watch horses race? Its not a sport, the animals do all of the work. And its okay for them to take steriods.

Well apparantly its not anyone on here's choice to make. If Tubbs and Simmons agree that Woodard is the man for the job, what are we going to do? Not support the football team? I dont think so. This is what we wanted right? Football. If Woodard is the coach, then he is the coach. Everyone on this board will support Lamar except for probably TT. The majority on here including myself will have season tickets and be at most of the practices.
As long as he recruits the area for the best players he can get from around here and goes out and steals a few that he shouldn't be able to get from some bigger named schools. And of course wins more games then he looses, he will be okay.
Does anyone know what kind of offense he ran at Navarro?
-
I'll have to agree with you there on taking Brandon as our first recruit. That is a pretty talented list. I wonder how many kids are going to be trying to transfer back to Lamar for football over the next 2 years?
-
Sounds like he knows that he is the new coach.
-
Not a bad idea UNLV. I bet we would have a whole lot better list of candidates. I'm not saying anything is wrong with Stump or Woodard. With that kind of money, we might be able to lure UNLV's dream coach out of South Florida, JJ.
-
Wasn't Woodard only at Navarro for only a year? Would he be committed to 3 to 5 years, or would he be trying to jump ship as soon as he could? If he is the coach, I still think Stump should be the OC.
-
I kind of like the idea of Coach Stump being that he is from the area and he is offensive minded. I agree with Cola in that the money donors would go for him and that he might stay here for a while. The local kids I feel would benefit, but would he be able to recruit other parts of Texas well enough? I know nobody wants to rush this process, but Lamar isn't even giving us any teasers. :-X

Cowboy and Westend, I have to agree with you there. PN-G, Nederland, Vidor, Livingston, LC-M and Lumberton, all members of 20-4A are 1 high school towns. So they have the benefit of their middle schools going to one high school. Stowers, Stump and Rison share 7 middle schools in Beaumont. Just because a kid is in one of Centrals feeder middle schools doesn't mean he will wear the maroon and silver. BISD gives the kids so many options and ways to attend the school almost of their choice.
I also agree that more of the kids in Beaumont grow up playing basketball verses football or baseball. All it really takes is a ball, goal and at least 2 people for a one on one game. Were as for football, you need a group of kids and a field/yard. I know a lot of parents who are scared of the kids getting hurt at a young age, that's another reason they grow up playing basketball.
Prime example. Anthony Collins. Played basketball most of his life and at Central. Really only played football his senior season for the Jaguars and was a all district DE. Went on to play OT at Kansas. Got drafted by the Bengals in the 4th round Sunday. There is nothing wrong with any of what I have just stated. But just what if he would have started playing at least in the 7th grade at whatever middle school he went to. That would give him at least 6 years going off to school vs 1. Good thing for the kid he just worked hard and continues to work hard.

If Stowers took care of his coaching staff, they would take care of him. He knows football. From what I hear, because I work for one of those coaches that left, its all about him when its going good. When its not, its everyone elses fault. If it wasn't for that, one of the head coaches that left, would be back now as his assistant.
Yes, Beaumont as a whole, supports teams when they are winning. But when they are struggling, look at the stands. I'm always there. I always get the letter every summer asking if I want to buy my season tickets early.
I hear they are supposed to use the Air Force style of offense this year. What ever they do, I hope they succeed.

Trying to confirm that Mt. Carmel is closing. If so, we will try to find someone to replace them on the schedule. I know it is late for scheduling.

I know Soulja from being on here. Really don't know him personally. Cowboy, you are a new name on here. That doesn't mean that he has more love for the Jaguars then you. Soulja has been supporting them from day one. I'm sure you have to.
Yes, Central did good in track this year. But we all know speed helps, but it takes more then that to win. The Jags always have speed. They don't always have discipline. I personally know the Jags current coach. I didn't really know Suggs, but that was the biggest difference, discipline. Those teams wanted it, they were teams. There wasn't any I's.
We all want the Jags to win state. You want to know why we want. Its not support from the fans. Its because the best athletes are walking the hallways of the school, pants below their ass, thinking they are "gangsta". They want to be known as hood, cool, tough, etc. They are not dedicated to the sport. They don't work hard to get better. We all know that when the 07 season ended, they should have been thinking about the 08 season and getting ready. That's the difference between football teams and football programs. We are still a football team. I hate to mention there name, but the Brook is on the verge of being a football program. The coaches, parents of students, faculty and current team members need to get the kids that are not playing football out there.
Soulja, that big armed QB is walking the halls.
Most people have jobs and families, so going watch the team practice everyday and lift is unrealistic.
And yes, until this year since 95 when I graduated, i was at just about every game. They only reason why i missed no more then ten games in 12 years is because of work. It didn't matter where or who they were playing. Now I am pursuing my on coaching endeavors with Legacy so I didn't get the chance to see them at all this year. It felt awkward. I still keep up with the Jags though.

You know what would be nice? If Lamar would have a contest for the design of the uniforms and helmets. We already know the mascot and color but what if there was a website where us the average fan could design the helmets and uniforms. For several years on the EA NCAA college football game series, i have been designing and playing with Lamar. Maybe they could give away season tickets to the person with the best design. Just a thought.

The board is kind of quiet without him. No good info lately. Im not big on baseball, need some football info! Where in the world is rim? ??? ??? ???
-
I think its a pretty nice idea/dream. Too bad BISD, Lamar and Ford Park cant get on the same page. That would be a real nice complex off of I-10.

Above the rim or UNLV, isn't today the deadline for applying for the coaching position? When will some factual candidates names be realeased?
-
UNLV, Adam Henry has nice a nice little resume there. But would he leave the Raiders to start up a program. The benefit is that he might would like to be closer to home. I dont know what his salary for the Raiders is. Do you think it would be a raise or lower than what he is currently making? Has Louisiana ties which could be good to get some of McNeese's recruits.

I heard on the news that there were engineers looking at Cardinal Stadium yesterday to see what it would take to renovate the stadium. They also said that 12 million was put to the side for the football program but that it would take other large donations to get the program going.

Now that my season is over at Legacy, I had the chance to go see Lumberton this pass Friday against LaMarque. Pregame, the Cougars came out cocky, taunting the fans on the side of the field they were warming up on. They acted like they were supposed to be there. That Lumberton was just another stepping stone for them. Being that I hadn't seen neither team play this year, and that I saw them beat Central last year, I figured LaMarque would win. Wrong. LaMarque brought their finese, speed and cockiness. It wasn't enough for Lumberton's size, power, strength, suprizing speed and just the will to win.
The fan support was crazy. They have some true fans. Being that Central played at Deer Park last year, it is a nice place to play. The jumbo tron is a lot bigger then the one in Baytown so you can actually see what is going on. They replay ever play on the screen except for controversial plays/calls. Good Luck! Save me a seat. I'll see you there.

Keep the red helmets! Why does it seem that every team with a cardinal mascot except for Stanford U. has a white helmet. High school included. Nice last drive.
-
3 Starters and 3 others are still playing football. ;D

Looks like Texas A&M and Baylor's coach are going to be available.

The Austin American Stateman originally posted the score between San Marcos Baptist and Texas School for the Deaf as 58-20 for San Marcos, but it actually was the other way around. Texas School for the Deaf is the 3 seed which mean they will play Legacy. The date and time is 7 p.m. on Friday. When I have a location I will post.
